COTTAGE LOCATION & ACCESS
Located on a quiet and peaceful property overlooking Doctor's Gully, Gullyview Cottage is secluded but also close to the town of Daylesford - the best of both worlds!
Daylesford is about a 1.5-hour drive (115 km) from Melbourne or there is a V-Line train from Daylesford to Melbourne.
The property is situated 900 metres from the main centre of Daylesford - this is a 1–2-minute drive. Or if you prefer to walk into town, it is around 10 minutes to everything you need! It is also only a 5-minute drive to the famous Hepburn Springs Bathhouse & Spa.
The unsurfaced access road is private and only consists of five properties. There is private, off-street parking.
WOOD FIRE
We have an enclosed wood burner, and we provide a small amount of firewood which should be enough for the first night’s evening fire.
As firewood is expensive, to keep our rates reasonable we cannot supply wood for a constantly roaring fire. If you want to operate the fire all day and/or for multiple nights you may need to bring or purchase your own wood which can be done at any of the petrol stations in Daylesford. The fire is a medium-sized firebox so please purchase wood cut into one-foot pieces, so it fits into the fireplace.
Please also note that government fire-ban restrictions are usually in place from November until March which means that the wood fireplace cannot be used during this period.
Other things to note
WIFI
We have NBN now! Unlimited WIFI.
The cottage has a huge smart TV so you can enjoy your Netflix, Prime and Stan. Please just log out afterwards. Please don’t visit immoral or pornography sites on our internet connection.
HOT WATER
Please note that we have an environmentally friendly heat pump hot water unit. Please use hot water sparingly. If you use too much hot water and then try to fill the spa you may run out of hot water. Please just wait a little while and the hot water tank will refill.
FIREWOOD
We supply enough firewood for the average stay. Firewood is expensive and to keep our rates reasonable we cannot supply wood for a constantly roaring fire.
Should you wish to operate the fire constantly (all day or for multiple nights) you will need to provide your own wood.
Should you require additional firewood you can purchase in Daylesford at the petrol stations at your own cost.
INDUCTION STOVE
We have recently installed a brand-new induction stove top (2 burner). Please use the special induction pans provided only. Note that the stove gets extremely hot! However, it is not hot to touch. Heat is conveyed to the special induction pan.
• The controls respond to touch, so you don’t need to apply any pressure.
• Use the ball of your finger, not its tip.
• You will hear a beep each time a touch is registered.
• Make sure the controls are always clean, dry and that there are no objects (e.g. a utensil or a cloth) covering them. Even a thin layer of water may make the controls difficult to operate.
DECK CHAIR
There is a lovely deck chair on the deck. Under the main king-size bed, you will find the long cushion for the deck chair. Please put the cushion back under the bed when you are finished with the cushion and before final departure.
SECURITY CAMERA
Please note we have an external security camera at the front of the cottage for security purposes.
