We appreciate the feedback regarding your recent stay. We want each of our guests to have an exceptional experience, and deeply regret that you did not! I’m afraid the issues you’ve described may have been a combination of bad luck, bad timing, certainly some opportunities for improvement, and a dash of misunderstanding. Just prior to your stay, we unfortunately had a severe thunderstorm that wreaked havoc on our internet connectivity, and also soaked the logs in the outdoor fire area, rendering charcoal as our only alternative for use. The indoor fireplace, indeed, is decorative only. I apologize that this was not clear. Thankfully, this has been understood previously, and we photographed it with candles to try to make the usage clear. Similarly, the bathtub is decorative, and hopefully this review will be another tool to help make that clear to future guests. Of course, neither feature has ever been included in our list of included amenities. Our property covers 10 manicured acres that our previous guests have thoroughly enjoyed walking, as well as their strolls along our tree-lined, quiet street. There is plenty of space to roam, as noted in other reviews, including a wide trail that goes to and along the river. I do apologize when you called me about where to walk that I failed to mention that specifically. For cleanliness, we have received excellent reviews for our immaculate levels of cleaning, so your observations in that regard are very puzzling, but clearly we somehow did not meet your expectations. And our washer and dryer has had no malfunction. However, if you had trouble using it, then certainly some additional instructions for its digital systems are in order for us to provide. Lastly, I would like to say that I sensed in our communications prior to arrival that we were just never quite able to get on the same page of what our property offers and the specifics of your expectations. For example, you inquired whether we offer restaurant and spa facilities on-site. We try to make our listing crystal clear that we are an active business and recording studio, which happens to also have three beautiful accommodation options. We are by no means a resort-focused destination, and we will continue to improve our clarity on that point. Gratefully, I believe this is the first time I’ve needed to respond to a negative review, and I trust our lengthy history of positive reviews will help future guests to have confidence in us for their future stays.
