Una vez que el ferrocarril dejó de venir el estado de Virginia hizo un carril a los rastros parque llamó el parque de estado nuevo del rastro del río que comienza en las fritadas y va para un poco sobre 50 millas a Pulaski. Junto con montar en bicicleta hay gran pesca, piragüismo, tubería y senderismo y se puede unir a algún ole tiempo porche sentado.
Fries se encuentra a 6 millas de Galax, donde hay un Super Walmart, otros comestibles, tiendas y restaurantes.

Wonderful house and village with two great restaurants in town a short walk away along river. Bike trail head is right below house views were amazing as was porch w rockers and fully stocked house. Richard helped me w trail bikes in shed out back which was great. Allowed my wife and early teen children to ride 10 miles out and back on trail. We definitely want to return. Everything was very nicely decorated in house / very homey. A/c worked great. Loved coffee in the am and glass of wine in eve sharing time on porch on rockers with family overlooking river and hearing the sound of river water and water falling over 40 foot Fries dam nearby. Thanks for sharing your house bikes and dining tips Richard and Rachel - look forward to staying w you again in near future. :-)

Riverview Getaway

My husband and I were looking for a long weekend of much needed R&R and this fit the bill perfectly! The cottage is adorable and the kitchen well equipped. Access to the New River Trail couldn't have been easier and the quiet evenings sitting on the porch watching the river was exactly what we were looking for! Fine dining options were a bit limited but decided to take full advantage of the ambience/view by eating in (although it appeared WalMart was the only "upscale" grocer choice.). Be advised there are steps (both front and back) to access. Use of the locked garage/shed to store or e-bikes was also very much appreciated. Have put this on our list for a possible visit again in the fall.

Cozy home away from home

We greatly enjoyed our time in the riverfront home! We had an excellent view of the river and dam and the home came equipped with just avout everything we could have needed. We look forward to another stay in the future!

Girls Trip

From the Bayous of LA to the mountains of the Blue Ridge. We enjoyed everything about the cabin. Super clean and everything we could possible need. Unfortunately we were there during the storm w no electricity so some better candles and lamps would be nice. Everything else above and beyond. Thank y’all so much!

Perfect little home for our stay

My sister and I stayed here while in town for a family wedding. It was perfect for us and my sister wanted to make sure I left a 5-star review. We love the multiple outdoor sitting areas, especially the front porch overlooking the river. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen adorable, and the bathroom updated. It made our stay wonderful. We also appreciated having parking in the back, since some of the nearby homes only had streetside parking. It was slightly tricky to find, but after a few drive-bys (street side and alleyway), we found it. My sister and I 100% recommend staying here and will stay here again if we are ever in town.

Lovely spot

Highly recommend this rental. The view of the river is fantastic you are walking distance to a nice restaurant downtown and 5 mins to tube and kayak rental. They let us use the well maintained bikes for a beautiful trail right outside the door. They also lent us chairs for a concert at the BlueRidheMusic Center which was awesome. Extremely nice owners and extremely clean home.

Great View!

Very clean and comfortable home. Rented for our in laws to stay and they loved it and the town. They even saw a Bald Eagle flying in the park. Owners were wonderful.

Sweet, Cozy Home

We loved this home. It was a super cold weekend, but it was so warm when we walked in. Something about this place reminded me of being at my granny’s house and that made me feel extra safe. It’s close to a steakhouse, cafe and a bike trail. It was too cold to use the deck area, but it looked very nice - this is a well loved, clean home!

Lovely house overlooking the river

Enjoyed our stay. Nice updates to the house. Good utilization of space. Very good, quiet and cool running AC. Loved sitting out on the front porch with coffee while enjoying the river view. Very nice updated bathroom. Great parking spot in the back. Bikes safe and sound locked in the storage unit. Highly recommend rental.

Fun in Fries

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. A lovely wrap around deck with views of the river and lots of seating. The kitchen was well stocked. It had everything we needed. It was great to be able to store our bikes in the shed when we weren’t riding the trail.

Another Great Stay

As was the case last year at their other VRBO home in Fries, VA the house was very clean, accommodations were exactly as described, and the owners are always responsive to emails and questions. I recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful view of the river.

We hope to return for another stay!

This house was spotlessly clean and a delight to stay in, and our hosts had clearly thought through what mattered to their guests. We came to this area to bicycle on the New River Trail, and the house included a separate locking shed for our bikes. Nearly everything in the former cotton mill worker house has been updated, making it very comfortable for us to spend several days cycling and relaxing. The house overlooks a broad, shallow expanse of the New River that serves as the ‘beach’ for the town of Fries, VA and we spent many hours sitting on the covered front porch, absorbing the sights and sounds of the river. Sometimes it was over coffee in the morning, and sometimes over a book in the afternoon, in a rocking chair on the porch, with clever popup tables for each chair. The kitchen is fully equipped, so we cooked for ourselves happily for several days. The house includes a recently-added wrap-around porch with grill, tables, chairs, and sink, presumably to allow anglers a place to clean their catch. Many flowering plants and bushes featured in the pretty landscaping. As an added treat, we were able to participate in a local traditional Appalachian music jam, held every Thursday night at the community center. A thoroughly charming visit to western Virginia, courtesy of excellent hosts.
