The Reivers Lodge offers two bedrooms with an open plan kitchen/living space and private hot tub surrounded by woodland for the ultimate countryside retreat. The open plan kitchen, dining, and living space has a beautiful vaulted pine ceiling and large French doors that open onto an elevated decked terrace. Guests can fully immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the magnificent views through the woodland, over the river Leader and towards Thirlestane Castle where the turrets can be seen rising above the treetops across the valley. Complete with all the cooking facilities you could require, a large dining table, cosy living space and electric stove; this is the heart of the Reivers Lodge and the perfect space for relaxing brunches or long evenings of delicious dining and boardgames. The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed and en suite shower room, while the second bedroom has twin beds and is adjacent to the family bathroom. Decorated and furnished tastefully, with textiles inspired by the Scottish countryside, each room is finished to the highest standard. There is a handy utility/boot room, hanging space for outdoor gear and a washer/dryer. There is also a payable electric vehicle charging point.. Thirlestane Woodland Lodges is part of our Wanderwood Lodge Holidays Collection, set within the beautiful Lauderdale Estate in the South of Scotland. Located a short distance from the charming Scottish Borders town of Lauder and surrounded by mature woodland, this extraordinary location enjoys spectacular views over the Leader Water, a tributary of the River Tweed, down to Thirlestane Castle.
The lodges are the perfect location for guests who love the outdoors. There are ample walking routes, local golf courses and the opportunity to fish on the River Tweed. Each lodge is decorated and furnished tastefully, with textiles inspired by the Scottish countryside, each room is finished to the highest standard, surrounded by mature woodland for the ultimate countryside retreat. The lodges have been finished with the latest mod-cons, including a SMART TV and complimentary WI-FI. On the outside, the lodge also has its own screened and gated deck with a private hot tub and seating area for outdoor relaxation. There’s also not only an electric vehicle charging facility but to make life easier each lodge has its own shed for storing bicycles and pushchairs.
The Scottish Borders is so popular because of the sheer range of activities – historic houses and castles, exciting festivals, arts and crafts, delicious local produce and miles of rolling hills, beautiful valleys, and the Berwickshire coastline. Several local attractions have children’s programmes and events to ensure guests of all ages are entertained during their stay. Guests can make use of their complimentary grounds pass which allows them access to several trails around the estate. One particular trail will lead you directly to Thirlestane Castle which is open for daily guided tours through the summer, and private castle tours can be organised year-round.
Beyond the estate, guests can discover world-class mountain biking at Glentress, just 25 miles from the lodges. It has a fantastic range of challenging trails for the experts, as well as easier routes for beginners. Glentress also has a brilliant Go Ape high ropes course including a 325-metre long zip wire across the valley. Lauder has a 10 minute trail walk from the lodges and has a selection of delicious eateries, butcher, bakery, delis, a golf course and a gallery to discover. Guests can venture further afield and explore other local market towns such as Melrose and Kelso which are 12 and 17 miles away respectively. Furthermore, Scotland’s capital, the city of Edinburgh, is only 28 miles away – less than an hour’s drive.
For those who prefer water sports, you can head to St Mary’s Loch which is perfect for wild swimming and paddle boards. The lodges are also within an hour’s drive of the spectacular east coast, which has incredible sandy beaches and cliff walks. Guests can try their hand at surfing at Coldingham Bay which is well known for its high waves and brilliant surf school. There’s something for the whole family, let your adventures begin..
