Plaza de San Jaume has the Renaissance palace of the Generalitat on one side, and the neo-classical Ajuntament on the other. Nearby, the city’s cathedral stands tall in all its gothic glory. If shopping’s on the itinerary, Avinguda Portal de l’Angel and Calle de la Portaferrissa are lined with plenty of retail temptation.
