Great space for a multigenerational family getaway. Beautiful beach location. House well maintained. Great location and super easy check-in. We even got in a couple hours earlier than our 6pm check in. Would definitely rent from Surf or Sound again.

The issue we had was with the refrigerator not working. It ran at 50 degrees due oce blockage with the fan. We tried to explain this to the rental company and were ignored by theanagement team. We reported the issue around 3pm on Sunday and did not have someone come to fix it until Tuesday. We arrived with cold food and had to keep buying ice. I had to actually drive to the office to get any sort of traction on the issue. It wasn't the problem of the frig not working as much as it was being ignored by an entire team. They finally brought a loaner frig on Wednesday. At that point we had to throw away 300 worth of food and spend time waiting around for repairmen to show. What's worse is that they never repaired the frig. So this will be a problem for the next set of renters. It is likely that it had been a problem that they knew about and didn't fix.I sent an email afterwards asking for refund of a day of my vacation plus the food we threw away. The agreed to refund 247.00, of which they only sent me 90.00. I emailed 2 days ago to follow up on that to no answer. It's a shame to drop that much money to stay there, to throw you food out and to be ignored. Then they throw a small refund at me, which I was fine with only to have them not follow up with that.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced during your stay, Jared. The refrigerator issue and the resulting inconvenience were certainly not the experience we want for our guests. We also regret that you had difficulty getting timely responses regarding your concerns and refund. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we'll ensure your feedback is shared with the appropriate team for review.

Playa-N_Waves Stay

The size and location of the property were just right for our party. The house had a lot of deferred maintenance that needed to be done - there were missing toilet paper holders in the bathrooms, towel racks that had been taken down and walls patched, but no place to hang the towels. We did have to call the realty company to have someone come and unclog one of the bathrooms - which they did the next day. We weren't given enough towels and when I requested more we got no answer and so were short 4 towels. The pool was lovely and the walk to the beach was an easy one. We enjoyed the great room upstairs and had room for the entire 16 of us . So the house was adequate and if the HVAC vents and fans had been cleaned sometime this season, the house would present itself much better. Mixed review here.

Hello, We are glad to hear you had an enjoyable vacation in Playa-N-Waves, but of course we are dismayed to hear of the places we fell short for you. We appreciate the maintenance details you shared and are grateful for the opportunity to address them. Please accept our apologies for the communication error regarding the towels. This year our phone and message volume has increase dramatically (with Covid-related questions and adjustments to travel plans) and, at times, the volume on inquiries exceeds our capacity to reply in the prompt manner to which we always strive. Please know that we are investigating what might have caused your shortage of four towels. This will help us ensure other guests do not find themselves in a similar situation going forward. Thank you again for taking the time to help us with our continual improvement goals! We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon!

Disappointed

We had several issues during our stay which they did address once we left they said. Broken stair on deck that was dangerous, mold on walls, air ducts had dust shooting out, top bunk wet, shower curtains moldy, head board broken, fan broken, shower stopped up, floors nasty, cobwebs everywhere, ice dispenser broken, chairs wobbly and dangerous, tiny ocean view, furniture broken, trash under beds and in closets, breakfast area stunk like urine and other things. Not pleased but still had a good time. Beach was very dangerous and littered with boards with nails sticking to everywhere from the houses that fell in and two got nails in their feet. Ocean drops off and hard for kids to play in. Nice area, short walk to beach. Some things to do not much.

Great get away at the quiet south OBX!

We were impressed with the the beauty and design of this home. The open concept kitchen and living area was very comfortable. The porches were around the whole house so we could sit in the sun or shade. The pool/ hot tub and jacuzzi were very clean and enjoyable. The location was near the beach and a short drive to restaurants and a convenience store. We loved it and look forward to coming back!

Good Times

Everything was smooth, house was great. Great location, short walk to the beach. Lots of local dining/activity. Pool was nice. Could use a bit fresh carpet in some spots, kitchen countertops, maybe a deep clean or replacement of some of the furniture. Overall everyone had a great time!

Very Dirty

The house was pretty filthy when we checked in. There was still dried soap in the showers, dining table was sticky and not even wiped down. Floors needed swept and scrubbed. Dishwasher had dirty dishes in. Drapes in master bedroom are shredded and give no privacy. The living room and game room furniture are stained and smell. Very disappointed for the price we paid.

The property was awesome! Very spacious and lots of things to do for anyone in your party. A lot of things closed this time of year, but having the full house was the best for the best relaxing vacation ever of doing a lot of resting!
