Let me preface this response by stating that this renter was the most disrespectful renter of our house that we have experienced in 26 years of renting! We have received of many EXCELLENT reviews from previous renters (many of which are repeat renters). We own rental property in the Bahama’s and Hilton Head Island and have never experienced a review as terrible as this one. The deceitfulness of this review is incomprehensible and reprehensible! Upon arriving at the house to clean after this renter had left, the housekeeper called their superior to document the “carnage” she encountered. The renter had left the kitchen sink and countertops full of dirty dishes and glasses, some still with uneaten food. The dishwasher was full to the brim with dirty dishes and glasses. The sheets were used as a canvas for the children’s crayons. The Nanny admitted to watching the children peel the leather covering off the king headboard, rendering it unsightly and needing to be replaced, at a cost of over $1.000.00 (when questioned on these issues the renter actually laughed at being called out). Furthermore a master bedroom window was so manhandled, it needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,800.000! The toaster oven was broken as was a decorative bear. The downstairs shower door was found broken and leaning against the shower. Before the cleaners collected the remaining trash in the house, the outside storage bins were already completely full and overflowing – Ther house was left in such a filthy state, additional money was requested in addition to the standard clean fee, which was paid. This review falsely implies that the renter was called upon to pay for damage – they paid the $59.00 damage insurance that covers them for up to $1,500.00 in accidental damage (which will not come close to paying for the destruction this renter left behind) and as a result have not yet had to pay for anything apart for the extra cleaning. Finally, I am somewhat confused in that, if the house was in such poor condition, why was the property manager not immediately contacted? It was only once an additional cleaning fee was requested that this renter decided to leave this review. It goes without saying that we would never rent to this deceitful and disrespectful renter again – we are very thankful to those many renters that have rented our wonderful house over the years and who treat it as their own – unfortunately there are renters out there that do not!
