Awesome views and location

This house is in a very quiet neighborhood with amazing views of the Gulf. The beach is really nice. Very relaxing environment!

Fantastic home but some upgrades will help

We’ve stayed here several times and will be back. The beach now looks great after all the restoration work. Large home with several bedrooms and bathrooms. Dolphins are a treat as always. Master bedroom will benefit from better blinds and curtains. Some Patio chairs are old and could become hazardous.

Great views!

This property is wonderful for the views and for peace and quiet. But if you have someone who doesn’t do good with stairs or walking a ways to the beach this is not the spot for you. It’s a beautiful home, just needs some upgrades and it would be perfect!

Great place!

Great house, lots of room for everyone. Beach just a few steps away. The only thing for me is there is no hose to rinse off the sand on your feet meaning lots of sand inside the house! Everything else was good.

Great House

The house was nice and spacious. The location was very convenient with beautiful views of the gulf. We saw dolphins almost everyday, lots of ships and shrimping boats. Overall, amazing vacation.

Great home on the beach

Spacious home on the beach. Great for dolphin watching. We’ve stayed here many times before. Recommend upgrades for kitchen utensils and dark curtains/blinds for master bedroom.

USED to be a treasure; nice but overpriced today

I feel very sorry for the owners of this house; it obviously used to be a treasure but is being swallowed by the sea. I'm sure they are charging as much as they do because they had to pay a fortune for the sand and shoring that has recently been added under the house, and must continue trying to save it. That said, It is totally unfair to the renters to portray this house as it used to be instead of as it is. For close to $1000/night, people expect a bit more! Let me start with the dangerous bits: there is a wire mesh that has been added to the inside of the railing around the main floor deck. The wire has rusted through in a number of places leaving sharp bits of wire sticking into the deck area which is NOT good with a four year-old! Many of the balusters are not connected to anything at the bottom, and some are missing entirely, so the railing is completely unsafe. As noted in other reviews, the beach is gone behind the house but what's not noted is that the stairs to the beach have been removed and unsightly patches nailed over the former openings on the main floor deck. (BTW the upstairs deck is not screened in as it appears in the photos.) The beach that is left is covered in rocks and stumps and all of us left with cuts and scratches on our shins from bumping into the underwater ones. Also, the first step of the stairs in front of the house is broken but luckily it's very close to the sand. I could write at least a full page about the problems but I won't. The rest, like the Dollar General shower curtain and dribbling water-saver shower head (instead of the handheld that obviously used to be there) and non-functioning makeup mirror in the master bath, and the non-functioning ceiling fan in the master bedroom, the twin bed shown in the bunkroom being in the closet of the master bedroom, all of the cabinet fixtures being loose in the kitchen, the dirty walls, the worn-out furniture, the lack of lights and outdoor shower under the house, etc., are not major things but not things one expects in this price range. I give this house two stars instead of one because it is in a wonderful location and spacious. Even with all of the problems, after the initial disappointment our family enjoyed the week and being together in one place. If you are the owner reading this, I would love to talk to you about your house. I hated writing this but renters need to know.

Island Sunrise

The pictures need to be updated for this home. There are definitely some changes since these were taken. The swing is gone. The water comes up to the house now so there is not much of a beach area. Luckily we had a very sweet neighbor that said we could use their beach area since we didn’t have much. The house needs a good deep cleaning and some updating. We ran into a few problems during our stay but Vacasa took care of us. We made the best of it and enjoyed our stay though.

Positives - This was a fantastic getaway for our extended family. The house was clean and very open with ample room for everyone. The area is quiet with not many people crowding the beach as the location is a private area. The views were magnificent. Overall, a great experience for us. Negatives - We had issues at the beginning with internet log-in info incorrect and two ceiling fans that weren't working. To their credit, Vacasa, was very responsive and had the issues corrected very quickly. Additionally, the outdoor pictures are extremely out of date. Due to erosion, the water comes to the footings of the house-there is no beach off the back deck. But we were able to enjoy the beach beside the house. Also, none of the outdoor furniture in the pictures are on the premises. There is deck furniture, but it is very weathered. There were many nail pops on the deck that needed hammered down. Finally, during a heavy rain, some water entered through a laundry room window. I gave it a 4 because it was such a relaxing vacation and Vacasa was great to work with. It simply seems the house's upkeep is not very important to the owner.

Not what you see!!

I just left a more in depth review with this property on Vacasa. I don’t want to repeat the hole thing again but you can see it there. A brief review is the property is run down and doesn’t look like the pictures. There is no way to get to the beach from the back deck you would be in the gulf. We had so many problems in one week that it was exhausting and I don’t feel like I even had a vacation at all .

Beautiful Get A Way

The view was absolutely amazing. The location was in a gated community which was nice and secure. The property itself was very clean but just needed some upkeep on the wear n tear of the house. The deck chairs were falling apart nails catching clothing. The TV in the left upstairs room didn’t work. The pictures definitely need to be updated on the listing. The beach is very small which was ok because we’re just sunbathing in it but deceiving from the pictures on the listing. Make sure you bring laundry soap, dish soap and dishwasher detergent. They give you very minimal for the weeks stay we had to purchase more of all. Overall beautiful home great location but for the price Vacasa ( the management company) definitely needs to do some repairs/updates in between rental weeks/days. We had to reach out to Vacasa the day of check in because we never received check in instructions. Also renting a golf cart made maneuvering the island easy and fun!

Location is great, but no beach left after storm

The house is right on the water. and there is no beach as it has been washed away. We enjoyed staying on the island and all of the amenities that are on the island. The house could use some work. The lower Deck is in bad shape and needs repaired, multiple spindles need to be replaced or even put back as they are missing.

On top of the water

We had a great vacation at Island Sunrise! I would give it 5 stars but there are few minor issues, the pictures for the listing are old. Due to serious beach erosion there is very little beach in front of the house on the Gulf side. Pictures are a little deceiving there but loved hearing the waves crash right outside our window. Some minor cosmetics issues as well, couple of windows and shades did not work, tear in one of the living room chairs, no tools for the fireplace and the bathroom outlets did not work in the master bath. Those things aside, the house was beautiful and felt lived in and comfortable. We hated to leave.

Location, location, location!

We loved how this house fit our multi-generation family. It was squeaky clean when we arrived. Plenty of room to spread out and yet meet again in the middle with the open concept of the living quarters. The beach is quiet, but the sound of the waves lull you to sleep at night. We've stayed here before and would love a repeat next year. Thank you Vacasa staff for taking care of us with your professional yet friendly and caring staff!

House Issues

Received a phone call the day before we were to leave stating that the property was no longer available due to the stovetop having been damaged recently by a lightning strike. The property we were offered as an alternative was not comparable to what we booked. We let them know that if they were to provide a hotplate the stove would not be an issue as we planned on BBQing a lot anyway. Crisis averted, or so we thought. When we arrived yhe first thing we noticed was yellow caution tape around the stilts of the house and keep out signs posted. Almost the entire underside of the house was washed out and the concrete cracked and fallen. On the back of the house the stairs and lower deck were damaged and inaccessible. This left the only access to the beach from the front door and walking around the house. Based on speaking with people who lived around there the damage was from Christobal in June, nearly 2 and a half months before our trip took place. We contacted the local agent and they took care of some minor things for us (hose to reach front porch so we could rise feet off and securing the gate to the damaged stairs to keep the kids from going down them). After this we were assured that something would be done and that we would hear from them soon. This has not happened after repeated emails. We enjoyed the beach but the way in which this was handled and the deceptive attempt to get us not to stay there on extremly short notice leaves a lot to be desired.

needs to update listing and pics, NO BEACH AREA, NONE. Entire first floor is destroyed which means you will have sand ALL in your unit your entire time AND back stairs are unusable. If your neighbor to the left has occupants, you willl have NO beach available.
