Grand Lake Lakehouse

This two bedroom, one bath home is located on Grand Lake across from Grand Island and has the best views on the lake. 1 full size bed, 1 queen size bed and also a queen pull out sofa sleeper. You get morning sunrises and evening sunsets all while sitting on a two tier deck. The upper deck has a 7’ bar table with seating for 6. Go kayaking, soak up the sun, walk the trails at many near by nature areas. Cook out and enjoy dinners out on two patio areas. If you enjoy sight seeing, there is plenty to see. Presque Isle has two lighthouses, a beautiful harbor, many wonderful restaurants and shops. We are located only 18 miles from Alpena!

Great place to stay at Grand Lake

The location and building were great. Kitchen was fully stocked, linens and towels plus lots of beach towels made the stay easy. BBQ and lots of outdoor furniture and dock made for a relaxing vacation.

Great Stay

We had a very nice time. Lake is beautiful, good for swimming, and the neighborhood is quiet...great for morning walks. Pictures are as described. The outdoor lakefront area is probably the cleanest I have ever encountered with a lake cabin rental...most of the outdoor furniture was new. We made a few trips to Alpena for groceries which is also a very nice town.

Beautiful Cottage

Great view. The host was very thoughtful about guests needs. The cottage even had a “junk drawer” that had items such as tape, pliers, cutting implements etc which might save you a trip to a store.

Cozy cottage

Very homie, kitchen fully stocked, along with plenty of towels and extra bedding. There was so much so that theres little extra space for your cuboard items, and the closets and dressers were full of extra bedding and things that we kept our clothes in our suitcase. This made it easier to pack up and to not leave things behind.We found this place to be perfect for our visit up north, that we would stay here again when up in this area.

Great digs and beautiful lake!

We made a 1 day visit to this lake last year and we fell in love! We were lucky enough to find this wonderful place to rent and this year spent a week here. The cabin is beautiful! Very clean and everything you could need! The host was there to answer any questions we had and the spot on the lake is perfect. Nice deck with seating, a nice spot to sit by the lake and the neighbors were very friendly. I highly recommend this spot if you want a little slice of heaven for a week! Thanks Mary & Rob!

Beautiful Setting

The Grand Lake Lakehouse was as advertised. It was clean, had everything you need for an extended stay and has a great view of the lake. When we arrived it was an exceptionally hot day for northern Michigan. The a/c, a single window unit, was ok for the kitchen, dining and living room. The bedrooms were pretty warm. Fortunately there are ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Otherwise everything was good and the owners communicated very well. We enjoyed our stay.

Old lake house in need of maintenance and deep cleaning

The house is in need of some work. There was broken glass in a window, torn window screens, the back deck had a landing area in serious need of a railing. The distance to the next level down would be a serious fall. The chairs and umbrella on the back dock over the water was covered in spider webs and spiders. I had to clean the area before we could use the area because it was covered with webs and spiders. The living room sofa was visibility dirty and in need of a cleaning. The house, especially the beds, smelled heavily of frebreeze, with the under odor of mildew or pets, possibly. There was coffee available. Overall I would not recommend staying here.

Disappointed

I have been vacationing on Grand Lake since I was a child. I have stayed in probably over 20 different rentals there over the years. And I've never given a less-than-great review on any VRBO rental that I stayed in for the last 10 years. First, the positive: the dock and grounds are nice. The deck is nice, and there is a nice set of attached table, chairs and umbrella at the end of the dock. Parking is adequate. There is a window A/C, which works and was sometimes needed because it was an unusually warm week. The negatives: The bedrooms are tiny, even for a cottage, and the bathroom is even smaller than tiny. The refrigerator molding at the bottom is coming off and pulls off and snaps back every time you open it, but it does cool adequately. There are notable areas in disrepair, the floor slopes noticeably down toward the lake side, and the furniture is old and unsightly. Not all of the outlets work, and 2 of the 4 table lamps didn't work, but ceiling lights and fans worked OK. We lost power one day for a few hours, but the owner kept us informed about power restoration. Both trash cans were full, and another bag of trash was on the ground when we arrived. Perhaps they could invest in another trash can or two. The gas grill worked, but the gas tank was nearly empty on arrival. We had to buy a refill tank, and the owner reimbursed thru VRBO. Overall, mostly a disappointment and significantly overpriced. I have stayed in much nicer Grand Lake cottages for less.

Quiet Beautiful Lake Getaway

The property was very nice and everything was setup for us when we arrived. Mary was a great host and made it easy to enjoy our stay. I would highly recommend this property. Thank you Mary for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful view of Grand Lake!

Either sitting in the living room, on the deck or on the dock wonderful view of the water. The home had everything we needed and more. Mary made sure we felt welcome.

Lovely Lakeside Cottage

Everything that we needed was there: Plenty of clean towels (bath and beach), well-appointed kitchen with lots of counter space for preparing meals, comfortable outdoor seating (the two chairs at the end of the dock were a nice treat), incredibly solid dock with foot lighting.. The water was crystal clear and great for swimming. Cottage owner returned messages quickly with answers to our questions. Very homey and overall, a great place to vacation and you can't beat the view from the large picture window in the living room.

We had a wonderful time. Mary went above and beyond with her hospitality. You will not be disappointed in any way if you choose to stay here. The only thing I could suggest is having a light above the kitchen table.

Little Cottage GRAND Time

This cottage is so wonderful. We stayed here last year and came back. It is a perfect place to relax on Grand Lake. Watching loons dive was especially interesting. Our shy Aussi Labrador remembered the place and was so content to be back. He totally relaxes at this cottage. Thanks for having us as guests. We consider it a privilege.
