EXCEPTIONAL!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I have been loyal annual and at time semi-annual customers of Sliding Rock for a number of years. We keep coming back because of the quality of their managed properties and their service. In doing so, we often move around. This summer we elected the river and Water's Edge. Were I asked to describe this particular property I would have to choose EXCEPTIONAL, SUPERIOR, AWESOME, though none alone would give it proper credit. The house is clean, spacious, well-stocked, very comfortable with like new, quality appliances. Recent renovations were the "icing on the cake." And the locale - on the river adjacent to some beautiful, relaxing rapids. Being at the very end of the road, there was zero traffic and even with other nearby cabins, privacy was not an issue. Will we return? YES!!! I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a "top-tier" getaway.

Waters Edge Rental

Reviewer Comments: I'm not one to ever fill out reviews, but I definitely wanted to make mention of the kitchen pots and utensils. I know it is the prior tenant's responsibility to clean all used dishes and put away prior to leaving. I was shocked at the amount of dirty pots and utensils with hardened food on them. The strainer still had hardened noodles on it, food burnt to surfaces and good hardened on multiple forks/spoons. I have never in 10 years run across a cabin with dirty dishes of this magnitude. I highly recommend the cleaning staff check the dishes/silverware at least periodically so this doesn't happen to someone else. I cleaned all the dishes that we used but there's definitely dirty dishes still remaining in the island for sure. We've been waiting to return to this exact cabin 9 years later, as our first trip here was when our daughter was 10 months old and took her first steps! We absolutely love the pet friendly screened in back porch and attached fenced yard. Little dogs can get under the fence by the water, but otherwise we had zero issues. This cabin is the epitome of a perfect get away and relaxation by the river! The only other thing I would mention is the immediate driveway leading to the cabin needs some small tree service work and limbs cut. The limbs were rubbing on my truck (I understand this would not bother cars) and the downed tree at the water has tons of regrowth that makes it harder to see and get in the water. Definitely looks different than pictured and could use a trim on the lower parts, especially for those who love to enjoy the water and get in it. We look forward to coming back in the near future!

The staff answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns, as small as they were, with promptness and kindness. The home is stunning. It was clean and well maintained. We love that they are so pet friendly. We enjoyed our three Pomeranians without being worried. The fenced backyard is such a bonus. We cannot say enough about the ambiance and view. We will make this an annual trip!!! We have encouraged friends and family to seek out this property.

There are neighbors but the fenced in yard and cabin almost turn away from them so you still feel secluded. Very clean. Stocked kitchen. The drive was easy, but have some mountain driving skills as the road can be popular. Outdoor seating on the deck wasn't the most comfortable. Bring wood for the outdoor firepit, you won't regret it.

The river and view are incredible! Not a dealbreaker but the kitchen and third bedroom are tiny. It wasn’t a problem for us since we had a total of four people but if you have more, it would be quite “cozy”. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Waters Edge cabin is situated right at the end of the dirt road on the Elijay River. The scenery and location were perfect and beautiful. We got to play in the water in the river as they have a little walk in area for the dogs or the kids and it’s not deep at all...if I was a pup I would have LOVED it!! The downside of this beautiful 3 bedroom cabin...the 2 upstairs bedrooms are unusable in the summer. The cabin has 2 sky lights in the roof making the 2 upstairs bedrooms completely unusable for anyone because they were SOOO HOT! I walked up the stairs to find a room and couldn’t breathe because of the heat..picture going in your attic in the middle of a 100 degree day and you can’t breathe, the whole upstairs including the bathroom was like that. Needless to say my friend and I both slept in the downstairs bedroom on the California King. This was VERY disappointing. My friend even got up in the middle of our first night and went upstairs to see if it had cooled down up there and it was no cooler than in the middle of the day, so warning...do not let your children or any elderly people sleep up there, it’s way too hot. So I actually would recommend this cabin for a couple with their pup because they can stay downstairs but would not recommend for a family unless your family sleeps on the couch or a blow up mattress in the living room. It was a huge disappointment and let down for Us.

Great cabin to unwind and listen to the roaring waters

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family (4 adults, 2 children ages 12 and 10, and two dogs) had a great time. The roaring water was soothing and nice. We were hoping to tube but the water is really not deep enough for that here, it's more of a stream than river in my opinion. The cabin was smaller inside than I anticipated, and the parking was tight (we had to back in every time so we could get out and we had only two cars with us). Not sure you could fit a third car. The road into and out of the cabin was very long and windy so be prepared. It was at the very end of the road and has a gate so we could allow the dogs to roam a bit with us out with them. The fenced in area for dogs was excellent. We ventured out to Blue Ridge and Elijay daily for day trips. Definitely recommend the blue ridge train and renting a boat on Lake Blue Ridge for a day as those were the highlights of the week.

Wow view! Soothing river noise!

The moment you get out of the car and hear the beautiful sound of the flowing river you are at peace. Yes it’s loud, but that is the whole point of renting a cabin like this! My son enjoyed fishing and even caught one smallmouth bass over our stay. We waded into the water a bit too. The firepit and hot tub were perfect places to sit and enjoy nature. The inside was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make our meals. Wi-Fi worked great our whole stay. My in-laws came with us and my FIL had the best sleep he’s had in a long time. We would definitely rent this cabin again!

The drive always is an adventure & fun for us, getting to this one was a little scary at first, but fine after.Cabin was perfect, everything you could need. And the river noise was just amazing. We always stay at a fenced yard so we can take our 4 pups with us. For some unforseen reason, one of the pups walked into the river and went bobin down stream. Jumped in a caught him about 50 yards down from the cabin, what a way to start out stay!Sliding Rock Cabins has NEVER disappointed us since 2009!

The drive to the cabin was scary at first for us Florida flatlanders who aren't use to mountain roads, but we quickly adapted. The house was very dog friendly which we appreciate having two German shepherds. They loved the fenced in yard and sitting on the deck watching Mom navigate the river in her waders.
