Playfair Island with its beautiful forests and pristine water is located on Muskoka's prestigious Lake Joseph, one of the three big lakes in Muskoka. Conveniently located to enjoy the Muskoka area by boat, with access to lakes Rosseau and through the Port Carling locks to Lake Muskoka. A short 5-minute boat ride to Gordon Bay Marine to your mainland parking point and 20 minutes drive or boat ride to Port Carling for local shopping, high-end dining, and the Port Carling farmers market.
PROPERTY
PLAYFAIR ISLAND's main cottage is surrounded by towering trees, giving you beautiful lake views and privacy with a gradual walk down steps to the boathouse and waterfront. It is an ideal landscape for guests of all ages to enjoy with ease. The property has 492' of waterfront, multiple outdoor seating areas at the boathouse dock to lounge and catch the sun throughout the day. Off the main floor of the cottage is the wrap-around cottage deck. From the lower level, walk out to the stone encased fire-pit with surrounding chairs. The dock features ample seating for the whole group to assemble and enjoy the all-day sun, including an outdoor living room set and umbrella on the upper-level boathouse deck, as well as a bbq, four Muskoka chairs and two loungers at the dock's edge. The 2-slip boathouse includes an upper-level kitchenette with a sink, mini-fridge, wine fridge, and portable electric burner, providing easy access to snacks and drinks throughout the day. Perfect swimming conditions with a sandy walk-in at the beach and deep water at the end of the dock.

As a child, I grew up with the sandy beach of Lake Huron in my backyard. I went to university and settled in Toronto with my family and made my living selling computer software. I starting visiting Muskoka in the summertime and fell in love with the peacefulness and natural beauty of the surroundings. Shortly thereafter we bought a cottage, which was quite an investment, but my family has never regretted it!
Working full time however only allowed my family a 2 week vacation, so we all agreed that we would rent to cover our property expenses and to afford to take exotic family trips overseas. Renting our cottage has allowed my family to experience other special places, like Provence and Tuscany.
Despite the alarming storms that can rush in, Muskoka has a certain “joie de vivre” about it. Blue skies, gorgeous lakes, quaint villages and sunshine nearly everyday certainly helps keep a smile on everyone’s face. Over our years in Muskoka, I have met charming people who have also fallen in love with this magical part of Ontario and who have purchased beautiful cottage properties that they visit frequently. While they are away from Muskoka, I take excellent care of their homes and host their visitors who come from all over the world to enjoy this beautifully scenic Canadian location that is especially close to my heart.
