Thanksgiving at the beach.

This is the second year we stayed at this house over Thanksgiving week. It has everything you need to prepare Thanksgiving dinner, and the location couldn't be better. The beach is right outside the back door! Very nice deck to watch the waves and beautiful sunset views every evening. Thinking of booking again for next year.

Very comfortable house. The location is perfect. Just steps to beach! Kitchen is well equipped. Would definitely rent again.

Family getaway

My family and I had a wonderful time. The place was very clean. Beach access was wonderful. House had everything we needed. I would definitely stay in this house again. We will try to do this visit every year if possible thank you to the owners of this home for making it very warming for us.

Enjoyable Family Vacation

We just returned from our stay at the Tipsy Turtle. While we are glad to be home, we already miss this cozy beach house. Our family (of 7 adults, 1 child age 7, 1 infant age 18 mos.) stayed here for 4 nights. We had plenty of room for everyone in our party and the view/access to the beach was incredible. This rental was one of the most well stocked rentals, we’ve ever seen! We had everything (cookware related) we needed to cook big family dinners most nights. With four bedrooms, two full baths and an outdoor shower room, there were never any fights over who was next in the bathroom. There were also a few beach chairs and a beach umbrella available, which was nice! We had just a few suggestions to make future stays even better. The listing should be updated as there is no bench seating available on the deck. While there was plenty other outdoor seating, one reason we picked this property was due to the bench seating as we had two disabled seniors in our group. We were able to make it work with some adjustments (we brought one folding chair from home just in case), but it would have been nice to know the bench seats weren’t available. Also there wasn’t a second fridge available, which we were counting on for drinks/extra food storage. Whatever cleaner was used in the bathroom next to the room with the king bed had a very odd smell (almost like urine). We bought air freshener, which helped some. Some of these I’m sure were due to the recent hurricane, but we wanted to note them so the listing could be updated appropriately. Overall, our family had an incredible time at Oak Island and would love to stay at the Tipsy Turtle again in the future!

Infestation

Rented home in Sept 2022. We want to acknowledge that the property mgmt company provided excellent customer service and responded to our needs immediately. That being said, the owner of this property has failed at maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of this house. We encountered a SIGNIFICANT roach infestation at the home - which was clearly a problem that got worse over time bc the owner did not address the problem proactively. It was so bad that we had to pack up and leave after seeing what the pest control company found around the kitchen. The property mgmt company responded immediately to take care of us and got our group into a new home within the hour.

Wonderful

This property is located in a great spot. It's on the beach, which meant no hauling a toddler, preteen and teenager with all the beach stuff for blocks to a public access. The house is laid out beautifully. The downstairs rinse off shower was much better than the one by the steps. There was not a lot of cookware in the kitchen, so don't plan on eating at the house a lot. Overall a wonderful experience!

Would stay again even with a couple minor issues.

The temperature inside got up to 80° during the day. I’m not sure if the sky lights made it hotter or so many people going in and out. We loved the big back deck and the easy beach access. Over all, a great place to stay.

Lovely home, great location

Sitting out on the end of the deck, watching the stars at night or the waves during the day, was just the best! There were a few hiccups, probably due to the fact that I was the first renter since the hurricane a few months ago, but my concerns were addressed pretty quickly. The house was quite comfortable and I really enjoyed my week there.
