A simple, clean, no thrills studio in an up & coming in-town Portland neighborhood!
A 5 min walk to the Arts District & 15 to the Old Port along w/ many new restaurants, a bowling alley & 3 fitness centers within a block!
The location IS NOT for everybody, think Brooklyn in the 80's w/ many transients roaming the street at most hours, but it is VERY SAFE w/ a strong police & community caring presence.
Your's truly has lived, loved & enjoyed many a moon within this vibrant community.

We had a great stay in Portland! The place was just as described and the hosts were easy to communicate with. A good place for a couple nights within walking distance of all Portland has to offer.

Very clean and comfortable. Easy access and easy parking. Great barbecue place right down the road- Wilson County. Trader Joe’s is just a few blocks away. Easy walk to the State Theatre-a must for music.As advertised- there are homeless around- who are just people- say hi.

The apartment was exactly as advertised: relatively spacious because of all the clear space, with everything needed for someone on a brief visit. The person who rents the apartment went out of his way to be helpful when I contacted him.

It's really just a room with a bathroom

The listing said "Studio Apartment," but it is really just a bedroom with a bath. A mini-fridge, coffeemaker and microwave oven do not make this a "Studio" in the sense that I understand that word (i.e., a one-room apartment with kitchen and bath). When I went back and looked at the photos in the listing, that should have been obvious to me, but I got hung up on the word "Studio."That said, it was a comfortable room, although the bathroom was stingy on towels (no face cloths, only one hand towel, two smallish bath towels), and the toilet was squeezed into a very tight spot.We had an issue with the TV not working properly and the host was accommodating to resolve the issue.We brought our dog and walked her in nearby Deering Oaks Park, which was a plus. Wifi was fine. Parking on the street is tight.One should definitely note that this neighborhood is "in transition." The corner near the property apparently is a gathering place for unhoused people and we were treated to the lunatic ravings of an obviously mentally ill man both mornings screaming at the top of his lungs -- for about *20* minutes on Sunday morning (luckily about the time we would have woken up anyway), with a 10 minute reprise performance on Monday morning -- shorter, but much earlier (about 5 am).It's a mixed bag. The price and the dog-friendly feature made it OK for us, but we probably won't be going back.

I was unfortunately a bit disappointed with my stay here. The check in process was very easy and explained well. There were homeless people around as described and no one bothered us during our stay. Parking was available on the street out front and the checkout process was easy. The area of town was a bit dirty, obviously not the host's fault. The property did not feel very clean to us. The sheets had what appeared to be dog hair on both fitted and top sheets, however after reaching out to the host they did bring fresh sheets rather quickly. The shower had other people's hair/stubbles in it, mold on the faucet and a hole in the ceiling. Overall a little "rundown" feeling for lack of better words, especially for the price. To be honest some of the things I could have looked over had the price been more appropriate. After our stay here we drove to bar harbor and stayed in a location that was about the same price a night and was a night and day difference in quality. I realize this is an entirely different location, however it made this stay seem that much more subpar. It honestly felt a little like we got ripped off for the price to stay here.

The property was very good for our purposes, exactly as advertised. Centrally located, we did indeed walk to many of our places of interest. We received advice on the street that parking on Hanover Street day and night would not be any problem and that was our experience in fact.The a/c and fan were adequate, the bed comfortable. The sink needs a stopper so as not to lose objects down the drain. There was a small refrigerator, microwave, and an electric burner hot plate.My only complaint would be not having any place to hang clothes. I wouldn't have needed a closet, but there is enough room for a simple wall-mount shelf and hanging bar. That might have been helpful. We had a really good time in Portland and felt safe and welcome.
