Waterfront **Spectacular Million Dollar Views** Seacliff Cottage



Seacliff Cottage is a beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished arts and crafts style home on Orcas Island in the scenic San Juan Islands of Washington State.
Situated on a waterfront cliff, this island getaway offers panoramic views of Rosario Straits, including spectacular sunrises, and a variety of pristine islands and mountains. Every room in Seacliff Cottage envelopes you in both quiet comfort and scenic delights.
With a National Wildlife Refuge less than a mile offshore, sea life is abundant. Watch seals, sea lions, otters, shorebirds, bald eagles and even whales from the attached, private deck and outdoor spa.
For the exercise aficionado, Mount Constitution is just a short 15-minute drive, and offers many different hiking trails to a variety of lakes, waterfalls and scenic overlooks, or the opportunity to take a relaxed drive to the mountaintop to take in the breathtaking scenery.
Just a bit farther down the road is the quaint town of Eastsound, populated with island arts and crafts stores, unique dining opportunities, movies and more. Visits to neighboring San Juan islands are accommodated by the island ferry boats, which can be accessed via a picturesque 40-minute drive around this horseshoe-shaped island.
Two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and one with a full size bed, plus an extra-long window seat in the living room mean that Seacliff Cottage can comfortably accommodate up to five people. Each bedroom (including the window seat) is wrapped in windows, allowing guests to ‘breathe in’ the awe-inspiring surroundings from dawn to dusk.

We recently installed a very simple to use, great sounding Sonos music system serving every room of the house including the deck! Simply download the Sonos S1 app to your phone and choose “connect to an existing system”.

We have also added two GermGuardian UV sterilization air filters, one in the Master Bedroom and one in the Kitchen/Dining Room.

This Seaside Cottage is truly amazing. Imagine waking up to views that go on for miles out of every window! One evening we watched three orcas from the deck for at least 20 minutes! We loved the convenience of being so close to a number of fantastic hikes. Moran State Park is stunning. Open Mic at Doe Bay resort, just 5 min away was a real treat. Buck Bay Seafood, also a few minutes away served the best Dungeness Crab I’ve ever had. Eastsound, filled with great restaurants and shops, was 30 min, but the drive is so beautiful, it didn’t matter. If you’re reading this, do yourself a favor and book. I’ve stayed in some beautiful places, but this one wins the prize. This home goes beyond comfort, tasteful art and gorgeous views…it’s a place to connect, with nature, with yourself, with whatever you’re in need of. The quiet beauty that surrounds will speak to your soul.

We loved Seacliff Cottage! It was perfect for the two of us while we enjoyed a milestone birthday. Sitting on the deck and watching the ships sail through the strait, enjoying the birds and other wildlife, and getting away from typical city noise made this perfectly relaxing.While it was a drive from Eastsound, it wasn't too far. We enjoyed the drive and having the opportunity to be near Moran State Park and Olga added to our relaxing experience.One thing to note is to ensure you have spoken to the owner before leaving home (or Eastsound) as the cell service in the cottage area is nearly nonexistent. However, once we had contacted hi, the rest of the stay was happy and seamless.

Just amazing!

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here, and couldn't have asked for a better location. Like others have said the pictures don't do this place justice, it is truly incredible. The house was perfect for us, we were able to relax and cook some great meals at the house. It is very private and quiet, and we enjoyed every minute of being there. Close enough to Eastsound for shopping and restaurants, and close to some great tourist locations such as Mt Constitution, Cascade Lake and Obstruction pass. Our first night there we sat in the hot tub and a bald eagle flew right by us maybe 20 feet away, we were blown away! Also saw lots of other birds, some porpoises swimming by and some type of muskrat running along the rock beach below. Truly an incredible week. And the whole home sound system is awesome for music lovers! We will definitely be back for some anniversaries!

Awesome location and property , amazing host

Orcas Island was fantastic and the property‘s location was perfect to explore the island. A match made in heaven. The views from this property were out of this world. The property is perched on a cliff and provides unique views of the ocean. Privacy could not be better. Listening to the waves crushing onto the cliffs was mesmerizing. The house was elegant, artsy, and tastefully decorated The kitchen was set up with top of the art equipment - perfect to prepare a gourmet meal at the end of the day. The bathroom is a little unusual as it has a water- saving composting toilet. This may not be for everyone. The host was absolutely amazing- he was always available 24/7, extremely professional and very kind. Highly recommend this property- quiet, elegant and peaceful yet close to many attractions one doesn‘t like to miss- hiking, biking, great restaurants Spa - you name it.

Jaw dropping and WOW!

Can't say enough about this property. The view is beyond spectacular. In fact, we were hard pressed to find a better view anywhere on the island, though the island is beautiful. The house provides an excellent opportunity to do nothing but gape and not feel guilty about it. We look forward to coming back and encourage anyone considering this property to not hesitate. A Beautiful Place to Breathe

This house is just as advertised. Views everywhere you look. The deck and hot tub are perfectly situated to take advantage of the views and the sun. We had coffee outside every morning and a glass of wine each evening. We watched Bald Eagles soar around the shore and saw Orcas just off the shore teaching their babies how to fish. And the inside is just as great as the outside. Plenty of room to relax and a well stocked kitchen. Everything worked perfectly. It’s a bit of a drive into Eastsound but that was fine with us for the solitude. In Eastsound we enjoyed a great meal at Matia and loved Brown Bear Bakery. We also explored Moran State Park. We absolutely will return! Loved every minute!

Perfect

My husband and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary. We were looking for a secluded place to relax, but be able to venture out and see the sites (natural and quaint). Orcas Island was the perfect island to do this. Matthew's place was the PERFECT place to stay! We cooked in quite a bit. We enjoy cooking, and the views at the house were better than any view at any of the restaurants! We could stay "home" and feel like we weren't wasting a day of our vacation. Vacation was right there. At the house we saw eagles, porpoises, hummingbirds, harbor seals and one morning we spent 45 minutes watching orcas!! It was amazing! We did not have any issues with the smaller fridge. It was perfect for us. We ventured into town a couple days (only 20 minutes away) and shopped for breakfasts, dinners and picnic lunches and had room for what we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed and we are PICKY about kitchen tools and spices. It was perfect. The deck was our favorite spot to play board games that we found in the basement closet. The window seat was my favorite place to lie down and enjoy a book or a nap. The shower made us feel like we were at a spa. We had no issues with the compost toilet.. We were able to take short trips to hiking spots. We had a few early mornings back to the ferry to island hop to Friday Harbor. Eastsound was wonderful! We stayed for two weeks and could have stayed for many more. It really was exactly what we were looking for and so much more!

A premier property

Having stayed at many VRBO's along the West Coast, this is by far the most amazing place of all. There is not much more to say that's not already been said - the views are breathtaking, the architecture and craftsmanship are first class, the host is responsive and thoughtful, and the location is delightfully remote. As mentioned there are not many restaurants open during the fall. Those that were opened, we realized once we were at the cottage, we had no desire to make the trip into Eastsound for dinner, enjoy a cocktail or wine, then drive back. AND....why would you want to leave this cottage? It was well equipped for preparing dinners in this luxury "restaurant" with front row window views! The Island Market is very well equipped and on a couple of day excursions we restocked and it worked fine with the space in the kitchen and the smaller refrigerator. We found a nice rhythm of staying put, then driving the island, or hiking, or pottery shopping, then back to not leaving the next day. It allowed for exploration AND just basking in all the cottage had to offer. And thanks to an earlier review that recommended the Marine Traffic App, along with a pair of binoculars, we enjoyed watching the marine traffic. While it's a bit of a journey for us from the SF Bay Area, we'll find a reason and way to get back! It's enchanting.

This property was everything we were hoping for. The house, the views, the privacy, the quiet... it was all amazing. Only comment would be to mention in the listing the compact fridge, as we planned ahead to bring food for a week and were surprised to not find a regular fridge.

Magical sanctuary

After dealing with the stress, anxiety and uncertainty of a really tough diagnosis and surgery, my husband and I needed a peaceful, healing place to escape to. The San Juan Islands have always been a relaxing getaway for us so while I was still recouping we decided to find a quiet place on the water for a few days. This place is truly magical. It is exactly as described, plus some. The window bed overlooking the ocean is spectacular. It served as our perch to listen to the ocen waves while watching bald eagles and hawks, seals and dolphins, boats and stars. The location is quiet and peaceful at the point of a seaside cliff and its proximity to Moran State Park and Mount Constitution was incredibly convenient and beautiful. Each day we took a short hike, found some waterfalls and simply breathed in the beauty of Orcas. Eastsound is not far, only about 9 miles, and we found ourselves in town most afternoons for food, coffee and to check out the local shops. The host, Matthew, is so friendly and helpful and we feel very fortunate he shared this gorgeous, tranquil place with us. It was so good for the soul and exactly what we needed!

Location, location, location!

This property is amazingly located, if you are into getting away from it all and staring at the water views. The activity on, and around the water, was always changing and never ending. From seals, and otters to gulls, ducks and bald eagles, we experienced a lot. The property itself is perfect for two sharing, we didn't need the spare double bed downstairs. We were super cozy in the main floor bedroom. We couldn't bring ourselves to close the bedroom curtains/blinds so we could experience the amazing sunrises. The fully equipped kitchen was great as restaurant availability is limited during the week in winter. Matthew, the property owner, was super helpful. He made sure we were comfortably settled into the property and was attentive to our needs. We had a problem with the oven on the stove and he immediately responded to a request for information. How can I not recommend this property? I would, without hesitation, rebook this property despite the fact that we prefer to visit new places rather than revisit old ones.

Favorite Stay Ever

Just a fabulous find hidden away on a cliff in Sea Acre, Orcas Island. Host Matthew was so helpful in getting us current ferry info while traveling to the location and making sure we got in okay as we arrived well after dark and it was our first time on Orcas. Seacliff is an extraordinarily well thought-out bungalow with seemingly no wasted living space. Beautiful woodwork, tile and inspiring artwork on the walls. Deck is an amazing place to perch with morning coffee to stare at the sea (and get stared at by friendly hummingbirds). Oh yeah, did I mention the world-class light and stupendous views experienced from practically every point inside the house? Spent hours watching Dall Porpoises, various seals, seal lions, eagles, and even got lucky with a handful of photos of a pair of Orcas playing in front of the house right from the deck. We had a great time at Seacliff, just an all-around epic stay.

Most amazing property I've stayed.

Absolutely beautiful home, in a visually stunning location. Sleeping in the "Nook" w the waves crashing on the rocks below while harbor seals swim & splash around was peaceful & relaxing beyond words! You have to drive through Moran State park to get to the property. The park offers many great hiking & floating opportunities. So much to do on the island, I will definitely be back!!

Total Relaxation

Sea Cliff was an amazing location and home. The location and views made it a great place to relax and unwind. Very easy to unplug and feel like you are getting away. The home is very well done and was very interesting from and architectural standpoint. Very clean and everything that you need for cooking was available. The hot tub overlooking the water was a great after a day of hiking. Even though the home is on one end of the island it was still easy to get to all of the key spots for doing stuff. Finally, Matthew was very helpful and responsive to any questions. Would definitely stay at Sea Cliff again!!

My family and I love to explore new places, meet new friends and experience life from a different perspective. We have a small farm where we grow veggies and raise chickens and hope to begin hosting when I can complete the guest house. Have traveled to France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Canada and many places in the U.S. and are returning to Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam in 2019!
