Enjoy beautiful SGI sunrises and sunsets at the Seahorse Shanty! The home is a charming bay front 2 bedroom, 2 bath home with large family room including updated kitchen and bathrooms. The home has two large decks, oversized patios and relaxing screen room that is great for enjoying the AWESOME vibes of St. George Island! The Seahorse Shanty has a very ‘homelike atmosphere’ that makes you feel like you are at your home away from home when you are on vacation on this wonderful island. It has a Newly Fenced back yard with a private dock and great canal which is perfect for boating, fishing or kayaking. New dock water system with outside shower makes enjoying the dock that much better! When you step out of the front door…you are just a short walk, bike ride or golf cart ride away from the beach. The home is in close proximity to the great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment of St. George Island. Our Golf Cart, ‘The Shanty Mobile’ is available for rent during your stay.

The backyard was fenced in for my Dottie. She really enjoyed chasing the lizards around. The Shanty Mobile was fabulous for getting around the island on. Kathy was an amazing hostess.

The house was better than described in the listing. The home was well equipped with all the basic essentials and conveniently located near restaurants and the beach public access. I cannot say enough positive things about the host and her desire to make your vacation experience the best it can be. Hope to be back soon!!

A family vacation!!!

We absolutely had the best time staying on the forgotten coast in the Seahorse Shanty! Kathy was a wonderful host staying in contact throughout the week making sure we knew local information. All the locals on the island were so friendly. The house had plenty of room for us to spread out. We were able to launch our paddle boards right from the backyard dock. Got to fish nightly in the canal. And the golf cart that we got to rent from the house was the perfect touch to our week long stay on the island! Highly recommend staying at the Seahorse Shanty!

Absolutely Amazing!

We had the most amazing and relaxing week at the Seahorse Shanty and loved the Shanty Mobile! The house was pet friendly and had everything we needed to enjoy our week! Close to beach access and yummy restaurants!

Best experience ever!

The house was immaculate and amazing. Very well stocked. The host was great and communicated quickly. Perfect house 1 block from the beach and on the beautiful bay. My grandson came over and fished and crabbed every evening. There is a perfect little dock a few steps from the house. Very nice fenced-in backyard for dogs. Rented the golf cart and nice to have. St. George Island is a great little island for easy access to the beach and bay. Recommend 5 stars!!!!

Great location, perfect for small/medium family.

Great little house with plenty of room for our family (2 kids and a dog). Awesome being on the canal and caught a couple of fish as well. Good access to the beach, not far at all and off the beaten path a little bit, which was nice. Owner was very friendly and accommodating, would stay here again! Pictures and description are accurate.

Great house & location

We had a great time at this beach house. It had lovey bay front views with a perfect dock for fishing. The screened porch below the house was a nice spot to relax. Everything was clean in the house. This house had so many extra touches to make it feel like home. The kitchen was particularly well stocked, including a full set of Tupperware that came in so handy, appliances, and dog bowls and matts. The house is just a five minute walk to the beach, or any easy and quick drive with easy parking access. The host was communicative and helpful via text and super responsive. We hope to stay again in the future.

Peaceful stay

Wonderful location with a clean house. The dock is perfect and a wonderful place to put in kayaks and there’s so many outside seating areas. The hosts are great with communicating.

Excellent place, but be prepared!

The home was perfect! Had everything we needed and was very conveniently located to the beach. The only issue we had was with the house across the street that has free roaming roosters. They WILL wake you up at 4:30 and you will NOT be able to go to sleep. The owners have kindly provided a sound machine that effectively blocks the noise and for most people, this will be just fine. However, if you are like my husband and need COMPLETE silence when you sleep, this is not the best solution. Just take it into consideration when booking. If this is not a concern for you, then don’t hesitate to book it. Great place and great vacation!

Perfect Spring Break Trip!

This property, in-person, is even better than advertised! We were blessed with perfect weather and enjoyed many days at the beach and fishing/crabbing off of the back dock. The fishing was hit or miss, but my son had lots of fun trying to catch the many blue crabs that live under the dock. Kathy was an excellent host, incredibly helpful and communicative, but not invasive. We also enjoyed a fishing charter with Griffith Guide Service and an airboat tour. Both are lots of fun and I’d higjly reccommend each of them. Can’t say enough about the property, very well-appointed and spotless. We hope to be back. The only things folks should be aware if, there’s a vacant/undef construction lot across the street that’s inhabited by about 20 chickens and a few roosters. Roosters do what they do, and started crowing around 4:30 AM each morning. You can definitely hear them. If folks enjoy sleeping in, I’d suggest sleeping in the back bedroom.

Perfect spot.

The location (center of the island) is a short drive to restaurants, an easy walk to a beautiful low- traffic stretch of Gulf beach and a great view down the canal to the bay. The canal provides a boat berth a few yards from the back door and quick access to the bay. The house is high enough above ground that the view is good and the bugs are not an issue. We'll be back.

Relaxing getaway

This property is wonderful!! Do not hesitate on renting this!! The island is so beautiful and laid back, just what we needed. The house and property is in a great location and has tons of outside area to just unwind. The property manager is amazing and answered every question I had!! We will definitely revisit if we ever come back.

A Shanty Good Time

House was great for three of us. It’s just off the beaten path and the short walk to beach is perfect. We really love SGI and we’ll be back!

Perfect location, very relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay on St. George Island. The house was amazingly clean and in a great location on the bay with a private dock. We kayaked and caught a good bit of fish. The pier/old bridge is also a great place to fish, but don't forget your pier net to pull up the big ones. We caught several sharks and stingrays there. The house was perfect and Kathy was very informative and a pleasure renting from.

Seahorse Shanty did not disappoint!

We had a great stay at the Seahorse Shanty in St. George Island. The owners were very responsive and made our stay fantastic. The beach is only 2 short blocks away and the sunsets on the back porch are amazing. We would definitely stay again if ever in the area! Thanks Kathy for such a wonderful place!

Peace and quiet without missing island amenities

We had the pleasure of staying at Seahorse Shanty for five nights. Having been to the island many times over the years, we decided to give the “Bay” side a try. The house is perfectly situated next to a canal off the bay. The kids were able to snag a few cats from the dock - which they enjoyed. The dock is also great to relax with a drink after a long day on the water. The house itself was beautifully maintained and smelled very clean upon entering. Kathy was an excellent host checking in frequently via text and offering recommendations and resources for us. A golf cart rental from Journey’s was the icing on the cake for getting around the island quickly and shuttling kids, fishing pools and the pup to and from the beach. Loved the property and hope to stay again soon! Thanks for everything!

Beautiful stay!!

The pictures do not do this property justice! The interior is absolutely amazing and well decorated while the outside has several amenities (dock, ping pong table, outdoor/screened in porch, etc) and is so spacious while only being 5 minutes from the beach. Kathy is wonderful and is very communicative on the process and any questions you have on your stay. I encourage you look through her THOROUGH binder in the home as we found several restaurants we hadn’t heard of within. I really can’t say enough great things (dock side sunsets were insane) - it truly surpassed all our expectations and we definitely will return!! Thank you!!!

Last year we purchased this awesome beach/bay home which we enjoy sharing with others when we cannot be in paradise. We currently live in Woodstock Georgia with our dogs (Paco and Lala) and our cat (Winter).
