Cake by the Ocean is an imperfectly perfect beach duplex just 800 feet from the ocean. This ground floor unit offers 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, a newly remodeled kitchen (Spring 2024) and living space with a private entrance and fenced back yard. Enjoy the outdoor shower to wash off the sand and sunscreen and then retire to the outdoor living space to unwind. Located in the Yaupon Beach section of Oak Island, this property is convenient to the pier, multiple restaurants and cafes, shopping AND the beach!

Wonderful vacation spot!

Our time with Marcia and Chris was delightful, restful and beautiful. Our unit was all set for us, clean and with fresh flowers. An easy walk to the beach, we highly recommend this home away from home!

Perfect weekend getaway

We loved the location! Very close to the beach and everything else too. Chris and Marcia were so welcoming with little details that went above and beyond. There are beach chairs and cart available so you don’t have to bring your own. 10/10. Will be back soon!

Lovely!

The property is adorable! And the kids especially loved tye little extras Chris amd Marcia do for their guests(toys on the beds and cupcakes). The fresh flowers were such a nice touch! The house was a perfect little walk to the beach. And just as close to the strip for foods and shops! We look forward to coming back to Oak Island soon and hope to stay at Cake by the Ocean again!

First trip to Oak island !

From the start, you can tell that this home is loved & guest appreciated. It was clean & well stocked - providing all the comforts of home ! The location was perfect for our family as we love to ride our bikes & explore in the evenings. The beach & pier were easy to get to as well. The pier has a fantastic restaurant, small store drinks/snacks & a bathroom for long beach days thanks

Perfect. Retreat

Absolutely perfect. Mark and I had not seen east coast friends in 20 years. Everyone came and went ate Plenty of parking and very nice quite neighborhood Ate pounds of shrimp off back yard grill. Thank Marcia and Chris

Cute place!

Nicely decorated, very comfortable and everything seemed new. Plenty of games and throws for cool nights. Screened in patio, with plants, that we didn’t take advantage of as it was cold. A block from the beach, which was great, and we walked to the pier and enjoyed a scrumptious dinner. Our hosts were very friendly and made some excellent suggestions for entertainment and dining. The area was quite walkable for restaurants and a brewery. I’d definitely recommend this and for sure we’ll stay here again.

This may have been the best VRBO stay we’ve had. The home was beautiful and very well supplied. It was very convenient to the beach and the host even provided beach chairs!

Perfect spot

Great place to stay. Hosts were very easy to communicate with and very friendly. The house had everything you might need and then some! We were able to walk to restaurants that were close by and we used to bikes to explore the island. We will definitely be back!!!

Exactly as advertised

What is listed and what is included in the reviews is spot on. This is a great property that is close to the beach. Almost anything you need for your stay was included - kitchen, towels, beach gear (including umbrellas and wagon which were a huge plus for us), quality TV selections, soap, shampoo.....the list goes on and on. The cupcakes and flowers were such a nice touch. We definitely look forward to staying here again on future visits to the island.

Sister’s birthday celebration

My sister and I had a wonderful time during our stay. The property was very clean, organized, comfortable, furnished nicely, and located within walking distance to the beach. Our hosts communicated with us along the way and provided many extras that made our stay there relaxing. We were greeted with a delicious chocolate cake on the kitchen table! Thank you!!

Marcia and Chris are fabulous and attentive hosts who only want you to enjoy your stay to the fullest. The lodging was just as advertised, extremely clean and comfortable with a new kitchen, and just a short walk to the ocean. Feels like home but at the Beach

Cake by the Ocean lives up to the name! Unit was spotless at check in. Our hosts had seemingly thought of everything. Location is perfect - a very short walk to the dunes. A quiet, cozy place to relax after a day of fun at a the beach. Whole family had an excellent experience!

Great experience!

Our stay at Cake by the Ocean was just wonderful! Marcia and Chris were great hosts, and we especially enjoyed the personal touches like the fresh flowers and yummy cupcakes waiting for us upon our arrival. We would definitely visit again and highly recommended these accommodations just a short walk from the beach.

Perfect for a shorter beach trip

Our family of 4 enjoyed Cake by the Ocean for a 4 day trip. Our schedule did not allow for a full week so this place was perfect. Very clean. Lots of kitchen items. K cups, cooking spray. Plenty of games and Towels, chairs for the beach were even provided. My kids also had a some special treats waiting for them to help celebrate one of their birthdays. Great trip! Hope to go back.

Great place!

Place is as advertised and you can tell the owners take pride in the property. It is one of the cleanest properties that we have stayed in. There is a lot of attention to detail.. spices for cooking, beach chairs and cart, games, extra chairs and pillows. Also very nice that each area and bedroom has its own AC unit (quite ductless units). It is a very close walk to beach and a few places to each. We plan on coming again next year.

So cozy!!!!!

We absolutely loved this place!!!! The space was exceptional, EVERYTHING, literally everything we needed was provided! They even let us use their bikes!!!! Very clean, well kept! Owners are very nice and accommodating:) would definitely stay here again! If you don’t like crowded, commercialized beaches this is the place for you. Restaurants, ice cream, close by. The beach is only a short walk (4 minutes) away from the house. They provide wagon, beach chairs, umbrella, and sand toys for the kids! When I say you don’t need anything but your clothes, I mean it! Thank you Chris and Marcia!

I've lived in North Carolina for the last 40 years and my wife is a native. We moved to Oak Island in 2018 after vacationing primarily at Pawley's Island over the years. BUT, once we found Oak Island we knew we had to move here. We love this 1973 brick home. We even moved from our big, piling house near the intercostal to move to Yaupon Beach because of the vibe.

Location, location, etc. :>) This cozy lower floor unit is conveniently located close to everything in Yaupon Beach. Koko Cabana and the the pier and The Lazy Turtle are right down the road to the left - no major roads to cross. Walking in the other direction there's Thomas’ Drug Store, Island Jo's and Shagger Jacks.

We love the area so much we live in the unit upstairs - but each unit is separate with no connection between them.
