Great house in the lake!

We loved staying at the renovated Donner Lake house! The house easily fit our 3 families with lots of room to hang out. The kids enjoyed the game room downstairs and going on the lake. They especially liked the canoes and paddle boards. We would definitely stay here again!

Hosting East coast relatives

The house was a perfect way to show East coast relatives California. The space easily accommodated 7 adults (3 couples 1 and a 1-year old. The kitchen was spectacular - made it easy to prepare meals. Hosts graciously allowed us to use paddle boards and kayaks. We had a terrific time.

Great Summer Holiday

The house was 100% equipped for our family vacation. It was comfortable, in the best location ever, and had everything we needed. Everyone loved their stay at this house; we would love to rent it again.

Morning Glides

Over the 10 days family and friends were able to come and go according to everyone’s schedule. The house was fully stocked and equipped with foodstuffs and sporting equipment. We all got out on the lake for a most memorable Donner summer.

Wonderful Stay!

The house was equipped with all the fun lake goodies and more! Our families had an amazing time and will be back next summer! Great Location ! And communication with the owners was amazing and super helpful! The only complain we had was the TV, that we couldn't figure out but it was fine the kids were on the lake by 6am and back by 7pm! Perfect !

Family Vacation June 2024

Spectacular Lake Front Cabin

My family and I rent different lake front cabins on Donner Lake every year. We could not have been more pleased with this waterfront location, the ease of communication with the owners, and how well stocked the cabin and boat house were with anything we could've needed. The owners were quick and responsive to all communication and very friendly and personable. The house was stocked with basic necessities, kitchen items, games, and plenty of linens. The boat house had extra boards and chairs- really anything you didn't even know you needed. We would absolutely rent this property again.

We unfortunately didn’t get to stay at this beautiful property that we booked 6 months ago. Two days before our trip I had a major medical emergency. A friend contacted Jennifer (owner) immediately and without hesitation she issued a full refund! She could of kept the money but she didn’t. There are still good people in this world that will do the right thing even though the don’t have to. I was expecting to have to pay the deposit or just lose the entire amount. Nope Jennifer refunded the entire amount. How incredible is that? We will definitely rent her beautiful home sometime in the future.

Sadly would not recommend

Unfortunately when we arrived the fridge had a substantial amount of spoiled food and there was a lot of garbage in the home that had never been taken out. Some of the ‘sleeping arrangements’ ended up just being twin mattresses on the floor - which was not our understanding from the posting. When we arrived we also learned from the neighbors that we could not park near the home because they would be roofing their house all weekend and needed the space. While we were able to initially get a hold of the owners, we were not pleased with their lack of interest in addressing the cleanliness issue and in terms of parking, sent us to another hill to park. This particular rental also had a substantial amount of personal items that appeared to belong to the owners - it’s certainly not a home designed for regular renters. Despite the lovely location, the stay was certainly not worth the high price and we struggled to find other options last minute.

HI Taryn - Thank you so much for the feedback. I am so sorry to hear of your experience. As far as personal effects, we do use the home as our own - which is often the case for VRBO properties. Additionally, there are four queen beds and one king bed (noted on the listing) and your reservation noted six adults, so there should have been plenty of room. We only use twin mattresses to accommodate little ones or capacity beyond the ten-twelve that the beds listed can accommodate. The food was in our owners freezer and condiments for use by our renters. We will monitor the expiration dates more closely going forward. Summer is prime for home improvement projects - so we can't stop our neighbor from repairing their roof and reached out to them immediately and they assured us they would not use our four parking spots. We trusted that was the case - especially as we did not hear from you again.

Wonderful Trip

We took a mini vacation with family after Labor Day and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home feels cozy like a cabin, but is actually big enough to fit several people. The home has 3 levels, and plenty of amenities to keep everyone in your group happy. Whether you want relaxation time, lake time, TV/movie time, indoor/outdoor games, lots of outside adventures, Chef’s kitchen with lots of cooking options, & so much more, then you found your home away from home. Thank you to the owners, Jen & Ryan, for making our stay seamless & enjoyable 😊

The Best Donner Lake has to offer

This house is spectacular with the most amazing views and lake access. Our family has spent a week at Donner Lake every summer for the past 25 years and this house is by far one of the best available to rent.

Beautiful home

This home was the perfect fit for our summer family vacation! Roomy, clean, fully stocked, owner was very responsive, and BEAUTIFUL views of the lake! We brought our own kayaks but the home was fully stocked with kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets, and chairs for use. We loved the bar and the game room as well. The kitchen was spacious for our big family meals and had everything we needed. The balconies were the perfect place to hangout drinking our morning coffee or sipping a cocktail in the evening overlooking the peaceful lake. We’re already looking forward to staying here again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
