Unique round house on canal with water views near Chincoteague with elevator

This newly renovated unique round home features a spacious open floor plan with spectacular water views from every room. The large kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need, and the dining table seats 8 people. The large comfortable living room (which includes a sleeper sofa) features a 65 inch flat screen Roku TV and blu ray player. The master bedroom has a 36 inch Roku TV and the double bedroom includes 32 inch Roku TV. The 4th bedroom hasa 32 inch Roku TV. Free WiFi is provided to connect your digital devices and for streaming (no cable TV). Both bathrooms feature large luxury showers with multiple shower heads. The 3 main bedrooms have French doors opening onto the porch and ceiling fans. The spacious screened porch offers plenty of seating and a dining table so it’s perfect for enjoying the cool breezes off of the bay and the beautiful view of the canal. In addition, this vacation home offers extras including board games and puzzles, 2 crab traps, 2 kayaks and a deep freezer for fishermen’s catch, a charcoal grill and covered outdoor space for your enjoyment. On the ground level you’ll find Adirondack and lounge chairs and a hammock for relaxing in the shade or on the waterside deck on the canal. Just imagine relaxing while the kids fish and catch crabs right in your own backyard!

The Round House is DOG FRIENDLY. Note that while Assateague National Seashore in Maryland (45 minutes) allows dogs, the portion in Virginia accessible from Chincoteague (25 minutes) does not. Because all the living space is on one floor and there is an elevator the Roundhouse is easily accessible to those with mobility challenges.

In addition to all the fine features of this vacation home, you can enjoy all the community amenities that Captain's Cove has to offer! This includes 3 pools (2 outdoor & 1 indoor), tiki bar, fitness center, waterfront restaurant, a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, playground, and so much more - all just a few minutes walk from the home! Fee of $15 per day or $75 per week per person applies for usage of community amenities (maximum 8 passes).

Be sure to check NASA’s Wallops Island Facebook page for launch schedules before your trip. If your timing is right, you might be able to watch a rocket launch at Wallops Island from the front windows! From those windows you always have beautiful sunset views across the bay to Chincoteague.

Rentals during the summer season are a minimum of 7 nights, Monday to Monday.

Family and fishing get away

The round house was everything we were looking for. Views in every direction. Plenty of places to relax, inside and out. Fully furnished with everything you need, including beach gear and yard games. Hosts were very helpful when needed and provided great guidance on the area. The elevator is a great perk for getting your stuff in and out.

Great neighborhood

The house was comfortable and had everything we needed to feel at home. The views of the water were a delight. Quiet neighborhood and great home base for trips to Chincoteague and Assateaugue.

Relaxing week

Had a wonderful week at the roundhouse! I might even book a week again based on the showers alone! Great showers - 2 and 3 heads great water pressure - just luxurious . Enjoyed the screened in porch- great place to read a book and watch the boats go by. The house overall beautiful and comfy!!

Peaceful Location and Beautiful home

Even though we weren't close to the Beach the drive was easy and we learned it on the 1st day. The amenities were great even though we didn't use them the amount of times we paid for, which was a hard decision to make prior but it's all good. We were able to make it work out with all the other things to do. Definitely worth staying there as they were very helpful and communicated well.

Lovely House!

Our family recently stayed at the lovely "round" house in Captains Cove for vacation. The newly remodeled rooms are spacious and decorated very nicely. There are lovely views of the Chincoteague Bay from the great room. The bedrooms all have access to the screened in deck that overlook the canal, where stand-up paddle boards and kayaks can be launched. There is a landing at the Marina Club dock to launch boats and jet skis. Our family enjoyed staying there and we look forward to renting it again for future vacations.

Great!

This home is amazingly maintained. Decorated tastefully and very practical for family stays (it was my husband and I and our 5 kids). There were actually more amenities and small details that were not listed, which made for great surprises. Heather was very responsive to any question or concern throughout the process. Only downside was internet strength and dependability, but owners said they’d be switching as soon as that service is offered.

Amazing house

The house was amazing. The shower, my kids are now begging to have our shower like that. The elevator was fantastic for brining everything up and back down. It was so much more roomy than we thought it would be and so clean. We struggled with the door lock, but thats our error (probably should have let the kids try it, they probably would have gotten it) but the owner was responsive and helped us even with it being a late check in. The dog was even comfortable there,, which was a concern for us as shes never traveled outside of camping. We would love to stay again!

The Wonderful Captains Cove Roundhouse

My wife found this amazing property on VRBO and it was so great! The house is very much updated bathrooms, kitchen and flooring is new. The place was very big and had plenty of space for a family of five adults. The dock is where I spent most of my time and the screened sun porch was my wife’s favorite. The Captains cove community is great, with several pools, golf course and two different places to eat (sandwiches at one and sit down dinner place) both were good. My daughter and I kayaked out into the Chincoteague bay and the island is visible. It’s about 20-30 minutes to the beach, Walmart, and the food lion. Overall a great stay! I will highly recommended the roundhouse to my friends and family!

Nicely furnished pet friendly home in a community with pools

Overall our stay was good. First day issues didn’t get us off to the best start. The elevator didn’t work and was not fixed the week we were there. If you are renting this place for its accessibility DON’T count on the elevator and house is on the 2nd floor. Place was advertised as 4 bedrooms but the lower level bedroom incurs an extra charge. While not a lot of to add it (I was made aware of it shortly after booking) it still shouldn’t be listed as 4 bedrooms. Maybe 3 and a bonus room for extra .That low level room had it own bathroom but apparently wasn’t checked by cleaners prior to our arrival. My son and his wife ended up cleaning the shower, the floor had a lot of dead bugs (gnats or maybe mosquitoes). The first night we couldn’t use the room because the toilet wasn’t flushing. Turns out there are issues with the electric in that room that resulted in a breaker blowing when using the bathroom fan while flushing the toilet. Once the handyman came the next morning and figured it out we knew to limit the use of electrical anything (never did get to use the fridge in the room, it was unplugged and we couldn’t find the plug (nor could the handyman). So tape that fan switch, put a big don’t use sign over it, and if things like that small fridge aren’t usable due to concerns over the electrical load capacity time for some upgrades. We survived without an elevator and the toilet issue was fixed. Owners were responsive. Kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfortable.

Nice location but house had issues

The process was very painless and the owners were very helpful before the trip. However the electronic door lock when we tried to check in was jammed. After about a half hour we managed to unjam it and discovered that the deadbolt was hitting the strike plate and getting caught on it. From then on it was clear we couldn’t rely on locking the door when leaving and reliably getting back into the house, which is kind of important when it is below 30 degrees and you are 5 hours away from home. We communicated our issues to the owner and while they were apologetic about the issue and told me they would have someone come by and look at the lock, no one ever did. So the entire stay we were unable to lock our items up safely. Cool house and nice location, but they absolutely need to fix their door situation.

Captains Cove - The Roundhouse

We stayed in the Roundhouse this past July and LOVED the home and location. The neighborhood is very relaxing and the people are friendly. We chose this home because it was dog friendly and our dogs loved exploring. Being on the water was really nice. The home has two kayakes, some life vests, two crab traps, and other various outdoor items. The home also has an EV charging station! The drive to Chincoteague was about 30 minutes. We went to the water park, the beach, and got to see the Salt Water Cowboys wrangling the horses. We really loved the pools within Captains Cove - there is one indoor and two outdoor. One of the outdoor pools has great water views and a bar :-) In addition, there is a basketball court, pickleball court, golf course, playground, and dog park. There are fees to use most of these amenities. You can pay by the week or by the day. My only issue with the space, and I struggle even calling it that, is that the listing states 4 bedroom but one of the bedrooms is under the house and is an extra fee if you choose to use it. I didn't think this was clearly stated in the listing. Either way, not a dealbreaker and the fee was not outrageous if you needed to use this space. I think maybe $60. We would absolutely stay here again. The home is very well kept and stocked with everything you could need in the kitchen. 10/10 recommend this home if you're looking for a relaxing stay in Captains Cove or near Chincoteague/Assateague.

Amazing property

The house was wonderful, and the property owner, Julia, was amazing. When vrbo did not send the door code, she answered immediately. The house was in good order, and lovely. We thank her for the opportunity to stay there.

What a wonderful home!

We enjoyed our first visit so much that we booked another week at this home in the near future! It was comfortable and serene. Clean and stocked with everything that we needed. Stunning bay view to watch the sunset from the living room and canal view from the bedrooms. Hosts were responsive. We highly recommend.

Beautiful waterfront house

If you are looking for a laid back relaxing vacation, this is the place. We thoroughly enjoyed the large spacious great room, the screened in porch, the patio on the canal. We crabbed every day and loved that there were two kayaks to use as well. The owner was very responsive to us as well. It was also very nicely decorated and the cleanest house we have ever rented that allowed dogs!

Great place!

It was an awesome house & an awesome experience getting to stay for the week! It was easy to book/check in & it was a very nice, clean stay. The only thing I will say is we couldn't get the bedroom ceiling fans to work (even with the special instructions lol) not a problem tho, just the only thing we could say that wasn't perfect about the stay. 10/10 recommend, it was great!
