Happy Acres: Modern Luxury Country Farmhouse

Happy Acres is a modern oasis that is close to all that Harbor Country has to offer -- beaches, wineries, restaurants & shopping and far enough removed that you can watch the fireflies dance and stars glisten from your outdoor living spaces. Perfect place to get away, relax and recharge. 15 minutes from New Buffalo restaurants, shopping & beach, Union Pier and Warren Dunes Beach. Enjoy beaches, hike sand dunes, visit local wineries, and breweries and antique. Three Oaks is a few minutes’ drive -- enjoy local restaurants, art galleries, Journeyman Distillery and Acorn Theater.

Our home is beautiful and welcoming having almost as much outdoor living space as indoor space. Drink your morning coffee and watch the sunrise on our east facing deck. Amazing sunsets every night from our west deck where you can BBQ and enjoy dinner. Cozy family room with sleeper sofa, leather reclining chairs and electric fireplace. Kitchen has seating for four, coffee bar and wine fridge. Great place to cook dinner and gather with family or friends. Bathroom is a wet room with two shower heads and heated floors.

Happy Acres is located on 17 acres of which 3 acres is lawn and 14 acres of farmland. Take the dirt road up to the house. Enjoy the professionally landscaped lawn and gardens. Walk the grounds. Play frisbee or catch or bags on the lawns.

Please note that as the area is rural, Wifi is slower… this is not the place for the gamers. Movies can be streamed via Netflix however if multiple devices are being used at the same time expect slower speeds. There are no televisions in the home.

We love listening to the cacophony of birds and watching the majestic sunsets and sparkling night sky illuminated by lightening bugs. Happy Acres is a great place to decompress and escape!

Three Oaks Getaway

Great property both inside and out. Nice place to spend with family and friends. Short drive to numerous restaurants, wineries, distilleries, hiking and beaches. Fully stocked!

Relaxing Stay @ Happy Acres

This property is great for a long weekend away. The house is the perfect size for a small family. It was clean, updated and cozy. Wendy was very accommodating and the house was stocked with everything you’d need. The views are breathtaking… the back porch was the perfect way to start and end the day. We had a great time and will be back soon!

Relaxing couples getaway

We enjoyed the most relaxing stay at Happy Acres! The hosts thought of every detail and amenity to make the experience comfortable. Our absolute favorite spaces were the large patio which was perfect for enjoying views of the Michigan countryside as well as the comfy chairs in the living room - excellent space for playing games. We will return!

My family and i had a wonderful stays at the Happy Acres. We stayed for three nights. We loved everything about the house. The house was very clean and beautiful. We loved the bathroom and the outside deck. Wendy was very easy to communicate with via texts. We only has a minor problem with the front door. We couldn't open the front door after several attempts. Wendy was quick to reset the code remotely. It was so peaceful staring outside the window into the open field. We highly recommend Happy Acres if you plan to visit Three Oaks, New Buffalo, and Michigan City. Happy Acres is the perfect home away from home.

Idyllic Respite

Happy Acres is aptly named - this immaculate, lovely, thoughtfully appointed home is situated upon one of the most beautiful settings I have experienced anywhere in the world. You will find yourself peacefully and delightedly relaxing the moment you arrive. Five minutes away you will find the charming town of Three Oaks. Fifteen minutes away you will discover the glorious beach at New Buffalo, and close by is the natural wonder of the Warren Dunes State Park. It is easy to find groceries, restaurants, antique shops, and bakeries nearby. But you may find yourself not wanting to leave Happy Acres. Sitting on the deck, listening to the breezes, watching the trees dance and the clouds float by is a little bit of paradise. Don't miss it! And fyi, wonderful, easy communication with the hosts.

Hidden Gem!

Simply amazing. The location is private and so peaceful. We had a wonderful weekend relaxing at the house. The inside was clean and well kept with an amazing shower. The backyard deck was an awesome spot to watch the sunrise and sunsets! We will definitely be back and I recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!

A gem of a get-a-way!

We had such a wonderful stay at this property. It was full of charming surprises and delights to the senses. The setting is beautiful inside and out: very clean, bright, peaceful, relaxing—a place to truly unplug and restore your soul. The sunsets on the back deck (which offers plenty of seating) and sunrises on the front deck are incredible. The interior of the home is designed with a high-end mix of furniture and decor that is eclectic and inspiriting—wonderful art and a color palette full of watery blues and cheery sunshine. I’m a graphic designer who truly enjoys interior design, and it was a treat to stay here. It’s like living in an Anthropologie store! And our two young kids would come here just for the wet-room-bathroom experience with two shower heads—it’s unique, a cool concept and so luxurious, with plenty of white fluffy towels too! There’s an Alexa in the kitchen for ease of music and weather checks. It truly is a happy place as it is apply named. The hosts were so helpful to curate their local favorite stops of all kinds in a guidebook they created which is waiting for your as soon as you walk in. Wendy is very easy to contact and quick to respond. The location is close to so many fun outdoor activities, cute vintage/home shops, art galleries, unique restaurants and the charming downtowns of Three Oaks, New Buffalo, Union Pier, St. Joseph and Niles. We went to the Sawyer Dunes State Park, St. Joseph’s Silver Beach, Granor Farm for a tour and some of the most beautiful organic produce and culinary treats around, the Fernwood Botanical Gardens for a truly magical nature experience, and a u-pick Lavender Farm close by that has a shop full of lavender goodies. The restaurants we ate at had great food, locally sourced with wonderful service. The Journeyman Distillery not only has amazing food, but put-put out back which was great fun for our family. Oaks Eatery and Froelichs were also super (in Three Oaks). Luisa’s cafe and the attached Harbert Swedish Bakery is special, as is the Whistle Stop grocery (best lattes around)-a quick drive from the house on the Red Arrow Highway. The Stray Dog, Brewsters, and Beer Church in New Buffalo are fun, casual options for food that have outdoor seating. We met so many kind people in the town of Three Oaks and surrounding vicinity during our stay here. And it was so nice to be out and busy but come back to this tranquil oasis and recharge. Thanks again, Wendy and Eric—we will be back for sure!

Cornfield Sanctuary

We very much enjoyed our birthday weekend getaway at this adorable, well appointed, clean house in Three Oaks! Other than a short stint of serenity disruption from the only neighbor, this house provides a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle.

Fantastic place for a girls’ weekend

Wendy was super responsive to questions before our stay. The house is spotless! And so adorable! The warm floors in the bathroom were such a treat! We appreciated all the mirrors which helped us all get ready! The house feels out in a field but we were only 5 minutes from downtown Three Oaks and 15 minutes from New Buffalo so it was the perfect location! I wouldn’t be surprised if we are back one day!
