Salty Dog Beach House in Cape May's Historic District

This 1950’s beach cottage located on the edge of the historic district has been lovingly restored. The Salty Dog Beach House is centrally located near the corner of Jefferson and Columbia making it close to the beach, Washington Street Mall and all that Cape May has to offer. Park your car in the driveway and walk to restaurants, shopping, theaters, tours, and the Washington Street Mall. Parking can be difficult in Cape May and this house is unique as it has parking for two cars off street in the driveway.
In the evening, enjoy a fire pit in the backyard or the sounds of the horse drawn carriages pass by as you relax in the open concept kitchen/living room, while you send the kids to the basement to enjoy the home theatre. The cottage has three bedrooms upstairs and a pull out sofa on the lower level. There is a full bath upstairs and there is a half bath downstairs and an outside shower. Linens are INCLUDED at the Salty Dog, sheets, bath towels and beach towels with the turnover service. The Salty Dog offers a beach box for you to leave your beach items in at the end of your beach day. There are numerous beach chairs and a couple of beach umbrellas left for you to use during your stay (Available Memorial Day through Sept 17th). And finally, salty air comes natural with the Salty Dog Beach House. Come and visit!

I would highly recommend the Salty Dog. The home is beautiful and exceptionally clean. It is located within walking distance to the Washington Street Mall. We had a wonderful weekend in beautiful Cape May at Christmas time!

Our family had a lovely winter stay. The home was clean, organized, and well stocked. The lower level is a great addition. Our family enjoyed gathering there one evening to watch a holiday themed movie.The owner was responsive and answered my questions that I had prior. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Property is very clean and had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving stay. I can only imagine how alive the town is during summer months. This home is only a few short blocks to the beach. We would love to come back.

We had an amazing stay!! The host was so thoughtful with providing everything that we needed. The linens and towels were very plush and comfortable and he had soaps and shampoos available. We loved having cozy movie nights after a long day of walking. Highly recommend this place?!!

It was a great location, quiet and fulfilled our expectations. One suggestion - the towels and sheets should be replaced more frequently. They were visibly worn and several had old stains.

We had an awesome stay at Salty Dog. The house is cheery and bright and has everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The common areas are cozy, the yard is great, and the beach box made our beach set up a breeze. Would highly recommend.

This house looks like it was recently remodeled. Everything looks brandnew. The only thing I noticed is that everything seems to be higher than I am used to. The vanity in the bathroom is very high, and the mirror on the medicine cabinet is also high (I could only see my face from my chin up). It was very nice to have all the linens and towels supplied by the owner. The kitchen was even stocked with K-cups, teabags, some flour and spices and anything we could possibly need. I loved the fact that there were beach tags for us to use too!! The beach box with the umbrella and chairs was great. We didn't have to carry that stuff from the house to the beach. The beach is within walking distance, and the Washington Street Mall is too. We loved staying at the house!

Beautiful little house in great location

My family had a beach house a block away from this house when I was growing up, I live in Ireland now and I wanted to bring my children back to experience summer vacations the way I spent them. This house really delivered. Beautiful well stocked kitchen, soft fluffy towels, powerful AC on a VERY hot week. So so nice. The bunk beds were a little too small for my son, he just turned 13 but he’s 5’9” so I think I was the silly one for thinking he would fit. We moved him down to the sofa bed but you could really feel the springs, it wasn’t the comfiest for someone his size but for a smaller kid probably perfect. Both of the rooms with bigger beds had super comfy mattresses but could use slight pillow upgrades. The backyard was so nice with the fire pit and a picnic table, as others have mentioned it would be great to have a grill but I think it might be a nightmare for the owners to keep clean. The outdoor shower is divine! We rented bikes and there is a perfect place to park them under the porch. The two lounge chairs on the porch are so comfortable and a great place to sit and watch the fireflies in the evening. Overall a super thoughtfully well stocked home in beautiful condition, with a location that can’t be beat.

We experienced a minor snafu at the beginning of our trip with the AC malfunctioning at the house. Luckily the owner was very responsive and immediately contacted the HVAC company to remedy the issue. The house met all our needs for our small family and the proximity to the beach was very manageable. The beach box was a huge plus. Would definitely recommend the Salty Dog to a small family or group looking to visit Cape May and not completely break the bank.

Nice place in a good location

Nice house, clean and good location, nice backyard, close to downtown and beach. Appreciated the clean towels and linens. Rob was helpful and responsive. Maybe only recommendation is to add a grill for outdoor cooking? but we visited in April, so maybe it's a seasonal thing. Overall would stay here again, thanks!

Salty Dog is PHENOMENAL!!!

Everything about the property was well furnished with top-end products (furniture, beds, kitchen/eating utensils, bath towels, you name it). And, having on-site parking was extremely helpful. It's a relatively short walk to the beach and the mall. My wife and I couldn't have been more delighted with our stay at the Salty Dog!

Wonderful location and home!

My family and I were in town for my son’s Coast Guard boot camp graduation. Everything with the home and our interactions were flawless! We cannot wait to visit Cape May again and hopefully stay in the same place! The owner was wonderful and communication was great!

Spotless, relaxing, spa-like house hideaway

Our plan was to enjoy time together, relax, and enjoy Cape May - walks to the beach, lunch at Congress Hall, browsing shops, visiting a winery. We wanted our "down time" to be shared, and so renting a house rather than hotel rooms was important. A perfect location, this was a beautiful home, well-managed and outfitted with all that is needed, including spa-quality shampoos and soaps, paper towels, and cleaning sprays. The linens were spotless, and the pillows, which are often problematic at rentals, were clean. The beds were a comfortable firmness. The kitchen had all the appliances you need to cook a big meal, or simply enjoy a Continental breakfast or wine and cheese over conversation. The tech was reliable, TV's easy to program (we used Roku). We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would stay there again.
