Island View Lodging has 2 suites with private coded entrances, sleeps 4, 1 Queen bedroom & 1 sofa sleeper, shower & mini kitchen.
Enjoy peace and quiet at this private sanctuary just 1 mile north of Bayfield on Lake Superior from your private deck or lakefront seating.
The large lawn area slopes down to Lake Superior, where you can laze away in the lawn chairs provided, fish off the bank, launch your kayak from the shore, take a dip in the lake or enjoy a fire in the fire pit in the evening.

The Fedora Suite sleeps (4) 1 Queen bedroom and 1 really comfortable Queen sofa sleeper. There is a dining area, mini kitchen with stove min refrigerator, sink, dishware, and most essentials for making meals.

There is additional parking on the property for guest vehicles/Kayaks/small boat/trailer. Please notify property owner in advance.
There is also street parking.
Outdoor grilling available by notifying property owner in advance.
Outdoor dining space available.

Bayfield is home to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, including Madeline Island. Cruises leave the Bayfield Marina daily for island touring. Local restaurants and shopping. Kayaking tours, sailing excursions, beaches and water sports available. Biking/hiking trails, fruit farms, and artist community all nearby.

This was a much needed getaway for the family. Perfect place to relax and take in the sights. The sunrise over the lake is amazing!

40th Anniversary

Island View Review

Had an excellent stay with Jim and Pearl. Close to many main activities yet a quiet and serene location to unwind and recover for another day. Beautiful easterly sunrises overlooking Lake Superior and Madeline Island. We definitely will be back!

Loved this property! It was just as described! The view was amazing! It was so relaxing! The grounds have beautiful flowers! Spent much time outside, looking at Lake Superior. The owner is very nice! Would definitely come back!

A great place to spend our 30th anniversary

Jim and Pearl gave us wonderful advice on places to eat. We had great views off the deck when we sat down for morning coffee or evening wine. It was easy to get to the water for kayaking. We put the grill to use several times - thanks. (The kitchen doesn't have conventional oven.) We'd love to stay here again.

The perfect spot

The Fedora is a lovely lakefront property. Every detail and comfort is accounted for in this quaint suite. We felt right at home. The suite was super clean. We particularly enjoyed the deliciously smelling linen and towels. It was meaningful to get to meet Jim and Pearl, our hosts. They were exceptionally helpful and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed to feel at home. We would love to be back on a future visit to the area.

Amazing

I rented this place for friends as for a 40th anniversary celebration. They said the place was beyond amazing. It was clean, smelled great and the view was unbelievable. Hosts Jim and Pearl helped out in making this an extra special stay for my friends. I couldn’t be more pleased and highly recommend that if given the opportunity you stay at this place. Thanks Jim and Pearl for making this a memorable trip.

Very quiet and great view, right on water. Must see sunrise view! Close to town but far enough away for peace and quiet. Room was very clean.

Jim & Pearl Swearingen recently retired from public education and health care, respectively. They have made Island View their own vacation destination over the years and now manage the vacation rental property themselves. What drew us to Bayfield from the beginning was the gorgeous setting, the small-town charm, and its location within the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and Lake Superior Circle Tour.

Island View is a serene, picturesque location that looks out on the Apostle Islands (Madeline and Basswood). Throughout the season you will see dozens of sailboats, kayaks, fishing vessels, ducks, loons, geese, eagles, and the daily U.S. Park Service tour boats pass by. Enjoy the scenery from your private deck or from the lakefront firepit.
