Inside, there's plenty of room on the sectional sofa or in front of the wood-burning fireplace. You'll enjoy having direct access to the Sandy River from this comfortable home in the woods!

Beautiful house and property. The trees and the sound of the river is amazing! Very quiet neighborhood. The walk along the river is gorgeous! We loved our stay. It would have been nice to be able to open the downstairs windows to be able to hear the river inside and also to let in some air. The path down to the river is quite dangerous and uncomfortably close to one of the neighbors gazebo and stairway. These are the only two things we had a negative comment on.

Everything about this place was amazing! We loved it so much! The view, the trees, the yard, the home-all of it was what you’d want in a much needed retreat from the crazy. Most of the home was incredibly clean-the only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that when we pulled the sheets back on the beds—they didn’t look clean-we found lots of long hair from someone and other things you just had to wipe off the sheets. We didn’t end up sleeping in the bed that had all the hair because of it. All in all we’d def come back and def encouraged others to check it out as well.

Sandy Retreat Stay

This really is a retreat; surrounded by nature with access down to the river is just a beautiful sight. Plus you’re not far from Mt. Hood for additional activities. The cabin was cozy and clean.

Perfect Cabin Getaway

This cabin was absolutely perfect for 2 Moms and their kids. The cabin was so comfortable and had everything that we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we loved opening the window at night and hearing the river.

Had a great experience.

It was a great location. Has access to a great fishing hole if that’s your thing. Great for a single family stay. Think it would be crowded for a group of people. Only downside was trying to keep the lower floor warm. Had a fire rolling most of the time with heaters on and was still cold. Great location and amenities.

Quiet break.

We loved or midweek winter break at this cabin. The neighborhood was quiet, cabin was clean, kitchen was well stocked for cooking and tv has good streaming plus a large collection of movies and games. The hot tub overlooks the Sandy River and has great views of the stars when the clouds clear. My dog loved the large fenced yard. We will definitely return, maybe in the summer when we can appreciate the little beach by the river.

Photos don't do it justice

The cabin was absolutely spectacular. The photos really don't do it justice. It's a little rustic and charming, but clean, well appointed, and the view is truly amazing. We got in on Friday evening when it was dark, and the river view when we woke up really took our breath away. Only downsides: the washing machine really doesn't work very well, and a 10am checkout is really early.

Smells Terrible and Vacasa is worse

I contacted Vacasa immediately after checking in. The main bedroom has a horrific smell. I got a migraine and sore throat being in the building. By cranking the heat throughout the house, I could somewhat lessen the effects, but Vacasa would not compensate me even though the home made me feel sick and I had to sleep on the couch because the bedroom was uninhabitable. VRBO should drop this property. There's clearly an issue in the carpet and/or walls of the main bedroom.

Lovely setting, a few hiccups

House is located on a lovely stretch of the river, and we saw lots of ducks, egrets and other birds during our stay. Water was just a trickle and ice cold in the first day of our stay. Had to boil a kettle to do dishes and we had to time bathroom visits, no way to take a shower. It took a full day to get someone to come fix it and that was only after I called 1-800 number and refused to accept that 'we might be able to get someone over this weekend'. The chimney damper is broken so despite the electric heaters going full blast we were all wearing sweaters and jackets the entire stay. We made the best of it but it was a kind of ridiculous experience considering the cost of the rental.

The cabin is very cute and comfortable. Being on the river was amazing and hearing the rapids made it relaxing. Because the beds are small my husband and I had to sleep separately. We started the trip sleeping upstairs one in the bed one on the futon but the weather changed and there is no AC so the upstairs got very hot even with the windows open so we both slept downstairs, one in the bedroom one on the couch - not ideal."The cabin was very cute and comfortable. Being next to the river was amazing, and hearing the rapids made it very relaxing. However, because the beds were small, my husband and I had to sleep separately. We initially started the trip sleeping upstairs - one in the bed and one on the futon. However, as the weather changed and there was no AC, the upstairs got very hot, even with the windows open. This forced us to both sleep downstairs, with one in the bedroom and one on the couch, which was not ideal. I know this is a ski cabin and used mostly in the winter but the bed situation is not workable for couples. We left earlier than expected because neither of us getting any sleep.

Cute but not as hidden as listed

I liked the home, it came equipped with everything needed and was cozy. 2 issues: 1. No firewood was provided even though it was listed to have some firewood available for us. So we didn’t get to have a fire. 2. We booked this cabin partially for the hot tub. It worked the first night and then the following 2 nights we discovered it had turned itself off, when we went to heat it back up, there was an error that the heat pump malfunctioned so it never worked again after that. There were no instructions for the hot tub listed anywhere, just rules for what not to do in it. And there is no one to contact in case anything happens so we were stuck troubleshooting ourselves. So not getting to use the hot tub was a huge let down and took away from part of what we wanted our stay to have and why we booked this place to begin with. There were also no instructions left on where the outdoor string lights were to be plugged in so we had to walk around in the dark trying to find the end of the plug and eventually the outlet so we could have light on the porch. All in all not a bad place, but after having to spend almost double the cost of a night to add a third night, not getting accommodations promised and listed made me not want to rent this place again.

Look no further!

We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing couple of days here. The cabin is so quant and has everything you need. The dog especially loved the River access and large yard. The fireplace was wonderful and there was plenty of wood. The hot tub overlooks the river! The sound of river was very relaxing. The cabin is perfect for 2 or 3 people but no more. There’s only one full bathroom (downstairs). The beds are very firm but we were able to still get a good nights rest. We will definitely be back-can’t wait!

Bad Thermostat

The thermostat should be replaced. The thermostats wiring is heating up so it turns off long before it gets to a comfortable temperature. Making it hard to relax for the three nights we stayed

A hidden gem!

We stayed at this property for 5 nights and it was a fantastic place to relax and recharge. The kitchen was well stocked and pantry had coffee & spices! The only hiccup we had was the night we arrived and had been given the wrong gate code to the property. Once we called vacasa directly-everything else went smoothly. You can tell the owners take good care of the property - the gorgeous porch and view of the river was one of my favorite places. One suggestion for the house - screens on some of the lower windows to let the cool air in and hear the river. Again, this was one of the nicest homes we’ve stayed in…so a big Thank You to the owners for opening it up to us. The town of Sandy was not to far down the road (groceries & restaurants) and the location was perfect to visit Mt. Hood, Columbia Gorge/Multnomah Falls & Portland. We would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful Retreat!

What a terrific cabin that I cannot recommend it enough! The kitchen was very well equipped, and the home was incredibly clean and cozy. We spent the days down by the river in the soft sand, and evenings in the hot tub & relaxing by the firepit. What a great place to fully enjoy Oregon's peaceful environment!

Incredibly Relaxing

This was exactly what our family needed! The home was very clean and comfortable, everything you need is available, the river was peaceful, the hot tub was relaxing, the fire pit provided a great atmosphere, the fenced yard was perfect for our dogs, and the deck was a wonderful spot to just sit in peace and quiet. And the only recommendation I would add is to have a sink strainer to prevent things falling in. We definitely will be back and can’t wait to spend more time here!

Better than we expected!

This was such a good retreat for me and my husband. We hiked Ramona falls in the am, relaxed by the river and on the deck in the afternoon and finished each day in the (under advertised) hot tub overlooking the sandy river. Can’t say enough about this sweet cabin!

Great get-away!

We enjoyed our stay at this rustic (but clean and fresh!) cabin. River access, fenced yard, comfy beds,, and hot tub were all positive features. We brought inner tubes, but we wished we had ropes to anchor against the current. We did learn to block the middle of the gate to keep our adventurous dog from exploring the neighborhood. We would definitely come back!

A great find

The Sandy River Retreat is comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, and is conveniently located between Mt. Hood and Portland. We soaked in the hot tub on the deck each evening and enjoyed the sound of the Sandy River below and the sight of bats zipping around overhead. We highly recommend the short Wetland Trail and Cascade Streamwatch Trail at Wildwood Recreation Site (BLM) and longer hikes from nearby Forest Service trailheads, including the Ramona Falls Loop and the unique Castle Canyon Trail.

Rustic Cabin on the Sandy River

We had a lovely stay in this cabin for 3 nights. It has a large deck overlooking the river with table and chairs. It is spacious inside and the kitchen functions well apart from the older-style oven which takes quite a while to warm up. There is also a really nice fire-pit outside with chairs but sadly it rained the whole time we were there so couldn't use it. All in all I would recommend this property, it was very clean inside with a lot of charm. We also had trouble opening the lock on the gate - maybe this should be addressed.
