An exceptional stay awaits at the Little Cottage in the Woods. Built in 1960 and completely updated in 2021, this home boasts a quiet, natural, hillside setting with trees and rock ledges viewable from all windows. Shopping and restaurants in downtown Boothbay Harbor are just a short stroll away along Mill Cove. The beautifully updated interior features new flooring, lighting, and upgraded amenities including flatscreen TVs. The full kitchen comes well-equipped with full-size, stainless steel appliances. Sip coffee while planning a route through Boothbay Harbor on the inset map in the custom, island breakfast bar with seating for four. A shared, full bathroom also houses the private washer/dryer.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). We had good communication with the manager prior to check-in, and we had no problems checking in. The home is located in a nice area close to the village of Boothbay Harbor but the location is very quiet. The house has been remodeled recently and everything seemed new and in good condition. The kitchen is very well equipped. The only problem we had was with ants. We notified the management and they brought more ant traps but we feel that the home might need professional help to eliminate this problem.

Great location, well equipped, cozy home with one tiny issue

We liked the location of this home. It's away from the busy center of town and yet has easy access to get there. The home has been newly redone with nice appliances, bedding and furniture. The kitchen is well stocked. Our only issue was with ants. We understand living in a wooded area can mean insects can be a problem, but the home clearly has a problem that needs to be addressed someway other than with lots of ant traps.

Cozy couples retreat

Sure! Here's a polished and friendly review you can use: --- We had a great little getaway at this rental! The house was extremely well stocked—everything from cooking utensils to a blender and roasting pans. It made meal prep super easy. There’s a grocery store less than 10 minutes away, and downtown is about a 20-minute walk—mostly along sidewalks, with just a short, moderately steep uphill stretch at the end. We actually liked being a bit outside the main drag—it was peaceful and very quiet. The space was clean, private, and had everything you’d need to be comfortable in any weather (space heaters, table fans, ceiling fan, AC) Laundry on-site was a big plus. The front bedroom does get a bit of noise from the bathroom, so light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. There’s no separate dining table, but the kitchen island worked well for two of us (would be a little tight for four). Overall, a cozy, well-equipped spot—perfect for a relaxing stay. We saw deer in the yard!

Clean and comfy cottage

House was very clean and the beds are comfortable. We had 4 adults and were comfortable. We didn’t cook so I can’t say anything about pots and pans but there is a drip coffee maker and toaster combo. Ice maker in freezer which was a bonus. House is in a quiet location and only a few minute drive to town. Air conditioning worked very well. They give you a ‘starter’ of toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags. We stayed 2 days and it was plenty but if you are there longer you might need to bring more. We did the puffin boat tour. Parking at the pier is very expensive but there is reasonable parking at the fire house just about a block away and also a $10 all day lot that has a few spaces across from the fire station.

Weekend Getaway

This was our first family vacation and the cottage was a perfect stay. The perfect amount of room for us and it allowed my baby to crawl all around. It was nice being semi secluded but close enough to downtown, would definitely come back!

Great experience

Highly recommended! We didn’t have a great experience with another local rental and had to book this stay last minute and couldn’t have been a better spot. Had everything you needed in a rental. Would definitely stay here again.

A good cabin for families looking for a convenient spot in Boothbay Harbor

The cabin was well-appointed and clean, except for the amount of carpenter ants. Other than dodging the ants, we had a lovely stay at the cabin. My only issue with the rental service, Vacasa, is that they are very heavy on the communications side, with far too many pre-trip texts and emails. It made the whole thing feel very automated.

Boothbay Harbor disaster

We booked the place in question and due to a forecast Noreaster, tried to move it ahead one week as it was not booked for the entire month of March. We were told that was impossible so we struggled through the snow and got there from Cooperstown NY. When we got there at 4 PM the driveway was not plowed and the property was inaccessible with 14" of new snow. I am 78 years old and shoveled most of the driveway and the 2' of plow debris on the road so we could get into the rental. The agency texted to ask the condition of the property and we let them know our feelings after they called for a snow plow that never showed. We feel the property owners should know how uncaring the managing company was and we will file a complaint with the Maine Department of Consumer Protection. We would like a refund of the monies the managingcompany in Portland Oregon banked at our expense......JoLaunt and Steve Shauger who would never recommend this property to anyone.

Peaceful Cottage in the Woods

The cottage was perfect for us 3 plus invited our NAVY daughter for Thanksgiving. We did bring some of our own pots and pans but this Cottage has it all, we would have been good. The kitchen was perfect and the bedrooms too. We were concerned about 1 bathroom but it worked out perfectly. There was no vacuum cleaner and I am OCD so that would be the only thing I missed. Thanks for a perfect 5 day stay comfrotably.

Perfectly Cozy & Well Equipped

This is a beautiful and quiet place to stay!! We enjoyed our time here very much. It feels remote but it’s very close to town and water views. It looks like a cozy Maine cabin inside, but it’s been fully renovated with modern furnishings and a very well-equipped kitchen. When we return to this area, this would be our top lodging choice next time.

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful time at the property and enjoyed our stay. Overall the place seemed clean. Could use a serious dusting. Little hard to find sometimes with some of the winding roads in Boothbay, but overall a great stay.

Comfortable little cabin. Great for a quick get away.

The cabin was nice and comfortable, and location was not too far out of town which was nice as well. Our only complaint is the garbage receptacles and service. We arrived Friday evening to find an animal had gotten into the garbage containers from the previous renters. We picked it up and tried to secure the receptacles. Overnight something again got into the garbage and it was all over the ground. We contacted Vacasa and they said someone would be over shortly. We left for the day and returned around 9pm, and the garbage had not been picked up. I texted the service again and was told that the garbage was on a weekly service, but did not state what day. We only stayed Friday to Sunday and did not accumulate much garbage at all as we ate out of the house for all meals. My suggestion to the owner or manager of the property would be to have an animal proof box to put the garbage bins in to avoid this issue so the renters are not responsible to clean up the mess of the previous renters.

Close to Boothbay

Overall, peaceful and good. The lighting system should have tags on all the switches. The hot water was lukewarm. It could use side tables for a drink or plate by the sofa. Enjoyed being very close to downtown but not in it.
