The fenced-in backyard and great pool area along with the short walk to the Shad St. beach entrance made it a perfect beach and pool vacation. Highly recommend!

Summerfell Cottage

Newly renovated interior, amazing backyard and pool area, short walk to the beach. My family really loved staying here, especially the screened in porch and hanging out by the pool. Inside is bright, beachy and very clean. Would definitely stay here again next year.

Lovely house, great location

We really enjoyed staying in this house over spring break. The house is lovely, with a nice kitchen, updated decor, fun pool in the backyard. The fact that we could be bring our dog was a big bonus too! The location is great, just a block from the beach. Definitely will go back.

Cute cottage

Summerfell Cottage was super cute. The decor was well done, the pool was beautiful and the walk to the beach was quick. We really enjoyed it and would definitely stay there again. *the 4 stars for cleanliness was bc there was a lot of dog hair on the furniture and beds.

Plenty of under cover parking, Lovely pool with great secured yard space for the dogs. A couple of suggestions: clarify that the “ground floor” is actually a separate space with a separate entrance that you have to leave the home in order to access. Also, some cushions for the outdoor loungers (very nice quality but uncomfortable without cushions). Upgrading to a gas grill in the future would also add an additional element of convenience. Overall, we had a fantastic week.

Great family vacation. First trip to OBX.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything was perfect. The house, the location, the food, the weather, EVERYTHING! If cooler weather is in the forecast, get the pool heated. On our first day the forecast was 65 and sunn, but the pool temp had to be in the high 80s, almost as warm as a hot tub. We had so much fun we ended up staying an extra day. The dogs had a blast running around the yard and our daughter LOVED the pool and pirate ship. The location was perfect. Short walk to the beach on a street with virtually no traffic. Beach carts and lots of pool toys were available. The house was the ideal size for a family of three with two large dogs. Rental company was friendly and helpful. Would definitely book this place again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall - the vacation was great ! The ideal setup for us was the rear yard being large and fenced in for the dogs. Also, the pool was fantastic and had a separate fence !! The pool was a big hit for my 3 grandkids with the different lights that came on a night ! In August, the temperature was unusually cooler (78-82)... and the ocean was really rough (lots of 2 red flag days) So, the pool was ideal for being able to swim ! The Kitchen was great size. The master was a little disappointing - as there was no dresser for clothes. There is a small closet and night stands - but we pretty much stayed packed in the suitcases :( The other rooms had dressers. The bedroom on the lower level has a pull out sofa which was your typical pull out - and not very comfortable but it was great having that room on the lower level with a bathroom ! The house is located on a street that is within walking distance to the beach. We brought our own golf cart which was really convenient for quick trips to the beach and there was plenty of parking close to the beach for golf cart, cars, truck, and bikes. Okay --- big negative (has nothing to do with with the cottage)... was the traffic coming in (1.5 hour on main road - we were 12 minutes from the cottage) There was no accident only heaving traffic. I have never seen traffic like this.... Overall great stay and would highly recommend! :)

Overall an average beach house that was efficient for our family vacation to the OBX. However, there were multiple things that if fixed would’ve given this house a higher rating. The house wasn’t fully cleaned upon our arrival with dog hair, cobwebs, dog poop in the yard, and sand in the house. The ice maker in the freezer didn’t work all week. Also this listing makes it seem that the room with the sleeper sofa is in the basement, but it is a detached room down at the pool level that has minimal function. Also the second bedroom has a full size mattress not queen size bed as advertised. The realtor company did react fast to our initial complaints to try and remedy the problems as fast as possible.

Cute home that needs some maintenance

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Negative: This home was obviously renovated recently, but needs yearly upkeep. Upon arrival, the air filter was caked with dirt and likely hasn’t been cleaned before the new season. The dishwasher isn’t even installed into the cabinet, and pulls out every time you open it. The carpets are fraying at the thresholds, and need cleaned. The bathtub doesn’t have a stopper so you could not bathe kids. That same bath door sticks so hard you have to slam it to shut it. No ceiling fans at all, need circulation desperately in bedrooms. Kitchen doesn’t have a disposal so the sink needs a strainer for easier cleaning. The freezer doesn’t have an ice maker. Then if we add bags of ice in the freezer drawer, the weight causes the freezer to pop open. Kitchen is poorly stocked with basics like frying pans, baking dishes, spatulas, etc. family room couch covers need deep cleaned, very dirty. The bottom floor separate space smells like mold terribly, there’s no way someone can safely stay in that space. Outdoor furniture is falling apart on the deck, chairs rusted. Small dining table provided is about to collapse due to rust. Needs more outdoor dining and seating overall. Needs more shade on the pool deck, a second umbrella or shade. Screws on pool deck from cover are not all the way down causing a hazard to feet. Positive: Clean upon arrival, nice home. Pool is very nice. Overall a cute home but needs routine upkeep.

Fun first trip to Corolla

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My group and I were very pleased with this property overall. The location and back yard were huge selling points for us - it was perfect for dogs, the pool was clean and perfectly heated, and it is only a 3-4 min walk to the beach. The beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the showers was great. One thing that was disappointing was the selection of beach chairs. They were dirty and rusted; we ended up renting chairs for the week. Some of the outdoor furniture was also rusted and could be replaced. The kitchen is mostly stocked for cooking with the exception of a few things. The biggest turnoff was the spiderwebs along the outside deck and fences and the very dirty coffee pot and silverware. Property management was very responsive to emails and were helpful with whatever we needed.

The house itself was a bit dirty (couch cushions and rugs had large stains on them for example) and there were a number of things that were just off (kitchen cabinets smelled like mold, entry door badly needs to be repainted, wall behind the LR TV was a different color than the rest of the walls) but overall for the price and location, it is a good option for a smaller family.

Great Rental - Perfect Location

It is on a private lot . Photos very accurate . The only thing that I don’t believe was mentioned was the location of the washer and dryer. It was in a separate building - a reading nook with a bathroom . We enjoyed our stay . The only negative is the decorative pillows outside need to be replaced.

Not what was expected ......

the cottage is well appointed, however...the front screen porch was dirty, didn't appear to have been vacuumed or swept, animal hair on the seat cushions and behind the sofa. Front screen porch door, the eyelet for the hook inside the door is missing, no way to latch the door from inside. Carport parking area was dirty, shouldn't the gardener blow it off every week? No pool area umbrella, most pool furniture lacked cushions. Inside the pool fence some of the in ground connection points for the pool cover were protruding in the air 1/2 to 3/4''. We stumped our toes and scraped our feet several times. They should be screwed back down or covered or marked. No umbrella for the upstairs back deck. The broom was worthless. The plastic bristles were bent, wouldn't sweep anything. 1 of the 2 hanging lights in the kitchen was out. carport light above east parking spot was out. Outdoor shower was unkempt, should have been blown out free of sand. Pirate ship is in need of repair (metal swing bar is broken). Flower garden around the pool was full of weeds, looked terrible. There was dog hair and fur balls inside the house, a juice box and sock were found under the toddler bed in the north side kids room. Probably 24 nails on the front and back stairs and porches are working their way out and need to be re-nailed. Front locking door needs painting inside and out. Home was advertised to have a blu-ray player, it did not. In the future we will not rent a property that allows pets. We would not rent this property again at its current price.
