Cozy three bedroom home with two large decks overlooking the Chesapeake Bay -- and a beautiful sandy beach. The view is outstanding. Two queen bedrooms and a loft upstairs with single beds. The loft has a low ceiling--fine for kids, but not adults. There is a large tree house with a swing, slide, rope ladder, and zip line. Gas fireplace in the living room and a gas barbecue on the top deck. Great wi-fi and a voice activated television set. Air-conditioning and overhead fans throughout.

This is the second year that our family stayed here. We absolutely loved our trip and had the best time. The house has amazing views of the bay and it is just a few minutes to the private beach. It is very clean and comfortable. The owners are responsive and truly accommodating. It's a gem! We hope to come back every year.

Our Favorite Place

This is our absolute favorite place for a family vacation! The house is very comfortable with everything you need and amazing views. It is very private and even feels like you are on a tropical island from the top balcony view. The beach is just a stones throw away and not at all crowded when we went in June. We love this place!

Wonderful getaway spot!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time. My 5 year old loved the zip line in the backyard and both kids (5 and 2) enjoyed the calm, warm bay water and the short walk to the beach. All ideal things with little kids. The house was 15 min to everything we needed, clean, and had it's own fireworks display on the beach behind on July 4th! The lofted space is open (aka very bright in the mornings!) with steep stairs, which made me a bit nervous with littles but it was really nice to have the extra beds and room for sleeping. We loved our time here and would recommend it to others. Thank you, John!

Great weekend away!

This property was a great relaxing get away and provided a separate space for everyone. A loft for the kids and a great yard to play in, an entry level that was great for the older crowd and a lower level for us middle age folks. The staircases are narrow and required to enjoy the property so as long as you’re prepared for those, this is like staying in a treehouse. The hosts were excellent communicating and we would stay again!

what set this property apart from others in the area (for us) is the zip line and huge back yard my kids enjoyed. the decks were also a highlight. as others have shared, responsive host! thx, we had. great stay.

We come to Fairhaven every year to celebrate the life of my mother who passed away 7 years ago. Sitting in the porch watching the butterflies while looking at the water was just what she would have loved. We would love to come back to this cute little house in the future!

Bayside cottage

Overall the place was great. Local people were super friendly, cottage was clean and the view from the top deck spectacular. Only issue was the locking mechanism on the lower deck, we could not operate it at all during the stay and the walk down to the beach was difficult, especially with an autistic teen. The walk down would have been easier if a handrail was in place along the steps. Other than that awesome place, awesome view and the locals were super friendly.

Musty, moldy, mildew

Great location, old home with mold, mildew problems. Smell was overwhelming along with our sinuses. I hate leaving a bad review but beware. I believe as a summer home with everything open it might seem OK but we were very disappointed. Reported to owners so hopefully they will fix because it is an excellent location.

We are very sorry Jeffrey had an issue and very surprised that he did. We have checked it out of course and had two other people do that as well, including a builder, and no one saw or smelled any mold, mildew, or unpleasant smell. The caretaker went over right after Jeffrey's complaint and noticed that he had not switched the dehumidifier on. This home has had great reviews, and never anything like this.

Mold and insect infested second, subterranean bedroom. Had to vacuum and sweep on arrival.

No hot water in the showers in either bathroom. Not professionally cleaned. Toothbrushes, loofah, razor and other bathroom necessities left in the shower in the main bathroom. Water damage and mold in the second subterranean bedroom. Cape cricket infestation in the second bedroom. The whole house had to be vacuumed and swept on arrival. The steps to lower level and to the loft are more like ladders. Not for older people. The house is furnished tastefully.

We are sorry that Santosh did not enjoy her stay. But her criticisms are inaccurate and hardly fair. The home was and is always professionally cleaned, and after seeing her complaints we have had it deep cleaned. The stairs are not "ladders;" the main stairway is three feet in width and eight inches deep. While the stairway to the loft is steep, we have made it clear in the description that the loft is for kids only. There was no mold--and the mildew she notes appeared in a small section of a closet which had been obscured by a panel, so neither we nor the cleaners had noticed it. In any event, it has now been addressed. So too the crickets. As for the "subterranean bedroom," while the home is built into a hillside sloping to the beach, that bedroom has a full size window. We do apologize for the hot water. The plumber had left a valve open, and if she had mentioned this to us during her stay, we would addressed it immediately and while she was there. It of course has been addressed now. John and Gail

A special spot, high above the Bay

John and Gail's house at Tracy's Landing is a treasure. The views of the Bay as you drive in are a gorgeous preview of the view from the upper deck, visible the instant you enter the front door. The house consists of three living spaces, stacked vertically like Legos; compact but spacious and well-equipped. The backyard inspired my Brooklyn kid to run around barefoot, squashing mulberries and zip lining like a pro. The neighbors we encountered on the private beach were friendly -- even the local dog, who loved to be petted. We especially appreciated the rental's welcoming touches, like the healthy, colorful begonias in containers and the air conditioners pumping to cool the house when we checked-in. Finally, the hosts responded promptly to messages and have taken the time to label switches and create a useful house manual. Great communication made the trip no stress. I highly recommend the property and hope to return.

Perfect Spot!

We decided to find a place closer to DC so we could enjoy a day trip without having to drive back to Bel Air. If you live here you know what I mean, DC traffic in and out can be a pain! We had 4 adults and 4 children in our group, with plenty of room to spare. The children’s ages were 6 and up. Upon check in we explored the home. The first thing we did was turn on all of the window units and it really did cool everything so don’t think it won’t. We were downright cold by bedtime, and I sleep with my thermostat at 67 at home. It’ll cool off, trust me! The loft for the kids was perfect, but some neglected areas the cleaners may have missed. It wasn’t a big deal at all, it’s a tight space for adults and we didn’t care. Everything else was great! We finally walked to the private beach and it was beautiful and quiet as we were the only ones there. Be sure to pack yourself some bug spray or the mosquitoes will carry you off into the night. We forgot. 🥴 There’s also an outdoor shower to wash the sand off. The kids absolutely loved the zip line and tree house. Our 6 year old daughter did it, but we made sure an adult was helping with her. It’s a whole lot of fun! Did I mention the views? Stunning! Grab some coffee and sit on one of the two porches and watch the sunrise and sunset. You won’t be disappointed. Our last day we had some electrical issues but Mr. John quickly responded and was very helpful. We will definitely be staying again.

A lovely getaway

I loved this house immediately. Beautifully renovated and very well appointed. The Chesapeake was a short walk away without crossing any roads, and the back yard included a simple “tree platform” for kids’ imaginations. One open deck and one covered deck for rainy relaxing. Gorgeous view! Cautions: the property is steep and there are lots of stairs inside and out. We didn’t feel there was anywhere to take a walk other than the beach, which was nice but not extensive. Nice neighbors. Would recommend as a quiet getaway.

Looking for a Beach Stay!

I wanted a beach stay where I did not have to travel for hours to get there. This property really provided that. The bedrooms suited what I hoped to need. But, as it turned out there was a conflict of scheduling with the invited guests (which included the two children); then my husband wasn’t able to come. That turns out to be the reason for the four star rating for the online listing. If my husband had been able to come, the space would not have comfortably accommodated him. Particularly, he would pretty much have been restricted to the “main” floor which did not provide a “tv” to help him pass the time—along with his computer, reading materials. Though I was on my own, I want to point out that I felt safe and comfortable. The neighbors were cordial…friendly waves and greetings. From what I observed, if the boys had been able to go, I believe they would have enjoyed the lawn play area and most definitely the beach area! This is a quaint/modern equipped cottage with very clear instructions and information provided by the hosts.

Old but nicely furnished home on the bay

Loved this property. The home was old and had some quirks such as narrow steep stairs, but everything worked and it was well furnished and comfortable. The only negative was the closets were all full of person items leaving no room to empty your suitcase. The sunrise from the deck was amazing.

Lovely retreat

We had a great stay. The house was clean and well maintained, my kids loved sleeping in the upper loft room. The private beach was ideal and neighbors were friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!

Beautiful Sunrise

Communication with the owners was excellent. This was a great getaway weekend not far from home. This home is cozy, welcoming and comfortable. Plenty of windows with beautiful water views. The upper deck is a great place to relax and sunbathe. The lower deck is just as nice and offers a shaded option. There is one bedroom and bathroom in the basement apartment and one bedroom and bath on the main level. The loft area has 5 twin beds and would be a nice place for kids.

A great trip again!

This was our second time staying here - we enjoyed it so much the first time, we booked again. Great location and house, private beach was perfect for the kids, and there's plenty to do exploring around the coastline of the Bay. We hope to come back again soon!

May weekend 2022

My wife, 5 yr old daughter and I stayed for a Friday and Saturday night stay. The weather was in the 90’s that weekend so we were able to use the private beach a lot, which is just a short walk down the hill in the back. Our 5 yr old had a blast with that, she was a little young for the tree house in the back but it was pretty cool and would be great for the 6 to 12 age range. The beach was very private and quiet. We had a slight snag on check in with the front door being locked on the knob (cleaners didn’t follow the rules) but we called John, he answered right away and we were inside in about 10min and his caretaker was there about the same time we got in the house so the communication was great. Otherwise no other issues. The house was great, very clean, very charming with lots of character. Both porches are nice and have nice furniture. The AC units in the windows all worked great and kept the house cool. Kitchen was great, nice pots and pans, plates, cups, etc. There are a couple nice water front restaurants nearby, we did Ketch 22 and Dockside Restaurant & Sports bar, both were great and good food and atmosphere. All in all it was a great weekend and we hope to come back again! Thanks again John and Gail!

Amazing location, nice but older house

Overall, this was a very nice vacation house and we would definitely come back again. We especially loved the location and practically private beach, and the views from the house and the multiple decks were breathtaking and incredible. The house was also very well equipped, clean and comfortable, and the hot water, oven, grill, TV, heat and AC all work nicely. However, the one thing that we most disliked, and we would love to see remedied on the future, is the lack of privacy between the main bedroom and the loft right above it. They are separated only by floorboards, so bring a sound machine if you want to keep it private, and you can see into the main bedroom from knotholes in the floor if the light is on. From our research, this house was built in 1930 - I think stairs were just made smaller then. There was no problem with them, it was just different. All in all, we were very pleased with our vacation and thank the owners for enabling our family to build happy memories!

Great Place for a Getaway

This is a cute & well maintained old home. It was comfortable and just what we needed. The views of the Chesapeake from the decks are amazing. I would definitely stay here again.
