Located in the heart of the quaint beach town in Cape Charles Historic Area on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, one block from the beach, “Seahorse Retreat” is a sweet second story one bedroom unit that requires steps to access, a beachy vacation rental, located in a historic brick building on Mason Avenue, the town’s historic thoroughfare, perfect for great people watching. Cape Charles was named “One of the Best Little Beach Towns” by Southern Living Magazine. “Seahorse Retreat” is only about a block from that lauded Cape Charles town beach. Many wonderful local shops, cafes, and restaurants within easy walking distance. Fall is a special time on on Virginia's Eastern Shore! Always something fun to do! This is definitely a charming haven for two or three and includes a beautifully decorated living room where seahorses abound, outfitted with very comfortable furniture and includes a dining room with seating for four. The bedroom offers a high-end king-sized mattress, soft sheets and fluffy down-type pillows. The living room offers a high-end queen-sized sleeper sofa, complete with luxurious linens. Sliding doors from both the living room and bedroom lead out to the spacious veranda. Full kitchen including dishwasher, built-in microwave and ceramic top stove. Enjoy a cup of morning joe out on the veranda with views of the Cape Charles harbor or walk a short block to the delightfully delicious Cape Charles Coffee House for breakfast or lunch. The location is perfect and the check in and check out process was seamless. The unit is very nice, but could definitely use some new carpets. We enjoyrd the porch and the view of the water. We would definitely stay again.

Blue Heron sent me relevant communication in a timely manner, along with helpful recommendations on things to do in the area. The location was perfect for access to all the things we wanted to do in Cape Charles, including quick access to the beach. The rental property was clean and overall well maintained. Would recommend different ant baits for the kitchen, as there were lots of ants when anything was placed on the counter. I appreciated the extra sheets and beach towels provided, as well as the full kitchen. We loved our stay in Cape Charles and I would most definitely rent through Blue Heron again.

Great stay

This was the perfect property for our stay in Cape Charles. It was very close to the beach, and you can see the water from the balcony. It was also within easy walking distance from some great restaurants.

Great view of Bay

An isolated, 2nd floor apartment, nicely furnished, with a beautifully clear and unobstructed view of the harbor and bay. Located on Mason Ave between the center of town and the beach. It's very nice.

Great weekend getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Seahorse Retreat was the perfect location for a long weekend getaway. We had never been to Cape Charles before, and the condo was perfectly situated in the historic downtown...close to shops, amazing restaurants and cafes, and the beach. Everything is walkable here, and we had a great time strolling around Cape Charles and seeing all of the beautiful homes and the central park. The beach is les than a five minute walk and we went there every evening for the sunsets. The front deck was perfect for breakfasts (after hitting the Mason Ave Bake Shop) and lunch as we could enjoy the sun and the people watching.The only concern we had about the place was the carpet, which is very old. We would recommend replacing with a vinyl flooring product, as the carpet maintained those burrs from the beach plantings and had a faint musty smell when we closed up the windows. Otherwise, the condi was very well appointed, and we loved the bed and the recliner!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Simply awesome. The apartment was one of the prettiest we have ever stayed in! Clean, light and airy, beautifully decorated. Sipped coffee on the veranda with a book in the mornings, then a wine in the evenings while we watched happy vacationeers stroll the charming street below. One block walk and we were on the beach swimming or on the pier watching breathtaking sunsets. Bike and kayak rentals also only a block away, alongside a seafood restaurant with an outdoor bar overlooking the bay. It really was quite perfect.

Lovely place to stay

This was a great 1 bdrm apt that was close to the shops and the beach. It's was very cute very clean and I enjoyed my stay. Be aware there are a set of steep stairs to get into the apt, so if you have knee or ankle issues it may be hard to get into .

Beautiful Location

Long weekend for a mother/daughter trip. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here as the location and accommodations are great. We love the balcony views of Mason street and people watching.

Reviewer Comments: This was a great spot for a weekend getaway We went mid-September so it wasn't crowded, parking was easy, and the shops and restaurants were still open. The condo is clean, comfortable, well stocked and just steps away from shops and restaurants. There is a concrete production plant directly across the bay but it didn't disturb our overall experience. We still enjoyed sitting on the deck to watch the sunsets and people out and about. We will visit again!

Reviewer Comments: This quaint, quiet upper level condo is ideally situated on the edge of the shopping district, putting it close to the beach and to cafes, restaurants and the local cidery. It's a short walk (and shorter golf cart ride) to anyplace you want to go. The condo has all you need for a comfortable stay: a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, linens and towels. It is charmingly decorated with seahorse and mermaid themes, which amplifies the beach views from the balcony. Great for a couple looking to get away for the week.

Cape Charles Virginia

Check in was very smooth. I thought the property was much nicer than the pictures suggested. Located in the heart of old Cape Charles which is a great location. Walk to beach, great places to eat and interesting stores. Keptopeake state is about 6 miles away with another geat beach, hiking trails, fishing, and birding. The host was exceptional. The TV was working when I checked in, but then there was no reception. They were on top of getting it fixed and it was quiet clear that they wanted to provide me with exceptional service. They could not have handled the situation any better. One suggestion for the eastern shore: Recycling would be great. I am taking all of plastic back home, but it would be good to drop it in a separate container from the trash. But, everything else made it a wonderful trip, no hassles.

Needs updating

The apartment is large and in a good location, however the picture of the view is misleading as it is across the street from a cement factory. The unit is comfortable, but everything in it is worn and outdated. In the condition it is in, they should either remodel/update or lower the price. The rental company is very responsive and was a pleasure to work with.

Second time staying here

We had a great time once again at this property! The location is unbeatable and the size of the place is perfect for two people and a toddler. Our toddler loved the balcony and we had some fun family moments out there. So close to the beach!
