It's not often you come across a true custom log home, built by hand with signature touches inside and out. This 4BR/2.5BA log home in the coveted Montgomery Estates community is one of them -- and it's among the best in South Lake Tahoe.

INSIDE THE CABIN

Commanding bear artwork hangs above a custom stone fireplace that's a true showpiece in the vaulted Great Room. The bear theme continues to the ironwork front door, with impressive detailing that photos don't quite capture.

Even better, our vacation rental's property backs up to mile after mile of open US Forest Land. Hiking and biking trails are at your doorstep!

Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort is a 5-minute drive away, and the lake and downtown casinos are just 10 minutes away.

The cavernous primary bedroom has wood beam ceilings and a dreamy king bed. This suite is made even more indulgent by an en-suite bathroom with a showerhead and a double vanity. The three guest bedrooms include one with a full-size bed and a TV, one with two twin beds, and one with a twin-over-full bunk bed.

There are also two plush couches in the living room that can sleep one guest each.

While you're here, enjoy your protected natural surroundings from the large back deck or the rustic front porch. Your location in the Montgomery Estates makes it easy to explore all of South Lake Tahoe, which features some of America's tastiest restaurants AND its best outdoor adventures, all in one place!

Tahoe is home to many animals. You may experience bears, raccoons, mice, and other animals. Meadows are home to many rodents. When these areas are filled with water or snow, these animals move to homes in the area. You may experience these animals in or near your home.
This property is not equipped with air-conditioning.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us.

Marshall Trail House

We had a great time staying at this home. Loved that it was Dog friendly. It was close to lots of places to eat, gamble and explore. The house backs up to a beautiful forest.

Stay is great, VRBO needs to update their app

Only other possible issue is the master br has a large opening that looks down upon the kitchen, living room. For those that want more privacy that could be an issue.

Worth the Trip!!!

It was a beautiful experience during our stay at this location except I had to wait 45 mins outside the house to get a hold someone from Vacasa team reason they emailed a wrong entry code to enter thru the garage, secondly I didnt get to sit in the front porch because the gate was locked, no one to access thru the front door only enter and exit thru garage and lastly there was no AC in the house fans and heater, inside got really hot so had to open windows during night for a cold breeze for sleep otherwise you can't sleep, upstairs bathroom door needs to be fixed because its a struggle to open anti clock wise... Overall we all enjoyed our stay at this property, clean neat and tidy made it so comfy!!

Poor and untruthful

Cabin is in need of maintenance. Things don't work , instructions are missing, equipment doesn't operate, light switches don't work in master bedroom Jacuuzzi is cracked at bottom,in MB, bed lamps switches don't work one kitchen cabinet spring hinge wouldn't stay shut causing door to head contact constantly so had to use tape to keep it shut. Jacuzzi leaks through ceiling. Don't eared of ice. EXTREMELY hard to enter.

In need of some TLC

Before we arrived it took almost an hour on the phone to get the entry code to the cabin. In the Vacasa app it only showed that there was a " Generated Smart Lock Code" but no numbers to enter into the lock. The cabin is in a great location, however it needs some TLC. The sliding door out of the family room is broken, and can only be opened by lifting and moving it sideways. Not an ideal situation if you are trying to exit in an emergency. The bath tub in the master bath was plugged and would not drain. On the second day of our stay three plumbers showed up to fix it and spent four hours at the cabin working on it. They got it working but it was an inconvenient interruption during our stay. Finally in the kitchen there were several chipped plates, and the pots and pans needed a through cleaning before they could be used. Again, a little TLC would really improve the lodging experience.

Cute Cabin and excellent customer service

We had a good stay at the cabin over the new years and I'm glad we picked this log cabin for our 9 ppl family gathering. Overall a positive experience. Pros: -Everything was very clean and put together when we arrived -Beautiful log style home. It makes you feel like you're in an old school cabin, but newer and updated. -Huge points for having a real wood fireplace for us to use and free firewood at the front of the house -Kitchen was well stocked with cookware and had everything we needed for meal prep -Excellent walking opportunities next to FS land and nearby paved trails -There were space heaters in every room upstairs. More on that in the cons section though. -We contacted support to request more blankets/pillow cases. They were super quick to respond and drop off extras. This was during the holidays, so mega points for customer service! -Easy checkout! Cons: -Not deal breakers, but things to be aware of. -The bunk bed mattresses downstairs could use an update and the bunk bed itself should probably be checked for loose screws. - For the space heaters. You would need to be careful as it's easy to trip a breaker if you use more than one per breaker -The master shower is integrated with the whirlpool bath, so just be aware that water will splash a lot when you use the shower -The storage closet in the room with two twin beds had left over snack and juice box wrappers left over from pervious tendents -2nd screen door seems to be broken and doesn't open/close easily

Good location and nice house.

All good, just the checkout was a bit inconvenient. We had to drive to the office to check in and it is took us around an additional 30 min. The house had locks therefore it was very confusing why we needed to check up in person and to loose time. Besides this everything was good.

Lots of Space

Overall this is a nice house, big enough to accommodate 2 families of 4. The location is good and most of the essentials are all provided. Beds and seating options are all comfortable too. There are few details that need attention though- like only 6 forks and 3 stairs that need to be replaced soon especially with young child.

Nice log house in quiet neighborhood in woods.

This house was spacious and clean, and in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to South Lake Tahoe businesses and activities. The house is in need of some TLC such as proper installation of window and door screens, replacement of burnt out light bulbs, refrigerator/freezer is leaking water, and ice maker is not working. Also, would be nice if the house was stocked with a few beach items such as gliding chairs and a cooler.

Tired home.

Amazing property management! Front landscape old, tired, and unkept. Wet linens in washer and linen in dryer on arrival. Refrigerator leaked water on floor. Flooring old and damaged possibly do to ongoing refrigerator water leak. Barbecue severely damaged and needed matches to light, which we didn't have, and had to improvise with lite paper with stove. Poor lighting throughout property. Overpriced for condition of property. Saving grace is we had a good time with family!
