Skylarking cottage is at the end of a rolling stone path that takes you through the tropical hardwood forest. Quiet and secluded, with floor to ceiling aqua blue water views. Complete with spacious deck, hardwood floors and a stone and wood outdoor shower. 100% off grid and in tune with nature, you are immersed in the natural beauty of The Bahamas.
Explore the coastline on gin clear waters with the included paddle boards and kayak. Get underwater to meet the local marine life by snorkeling the rocky shoreline. Lots of beaches nearby as well as Surfers Beach for those that want to hang ten.
The property consists of a main residence on the top of the hill and the cottage down by the water. The cottage is not visible from the main residence and the main residence is not visible from the cottage.

There are no words for how incredible this property was or just how much we enjoyed our time there. It exceeded our expectations in every way, it was so beautiful each morning when we woke up that we felt we had to be dreaming! Each morning and evening we visited with sea turtles that swam at the shore like clockwork, we kayaked, paddleboarded, snorkeled, and made great use of the French press. Petagay could not have been a more gracious or helpful host. My best friend and I are the kind of travelers who are usually ready to leave at the end of our trip but neither of us wanted to leave Skylarking. We can’t wait to go back.

Our stay at Skylarking was nothing short of magical! Such a uniquely beautiful, welcoming property with a host who cares deeply for Eleuthera. Her dedication to maintaining the natural state of this property when she built it has created a special partnership between the land and the cottage. The path leading in to the cottage is a special experience, especially if you're lucky enough to see it with fireflies lighting up the trees at night. That brought back such a special memory for me - one that I'll never forget! The walk up the path created a real aha moment when the cottage finally came into view, perched in front of that extraordinary Exuma Sound! This was our first off-grid experience (that we could remember) which in no way detracts from a feeling of luxury, a time to sit back and to appreciate Eleuthera's extraordinary beauty. We feel so lucky to have spent three days in this truly enchanting place.

This was the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The whole process from booking, to arriving and staying everything was so easy. Upon arrival we found the place to be amazing. The pictures do not show the true beauty. Everything you could need was at the location even the smallest of details were thought of. Our host was very responsive, kind and went the extra mile to make sure our stay special. My husband and I did not want to leave this piece of heaven.

Our stay here was absolutely incredible! If you’re looking for the best way to experience Eleuthera, this is it. The private cove, scenic balcony, outdoor shower, paddleboards, and kayak made this one of our favorite and most romantic vacations ever. We saw so many amazing fish and sea turtles snorkeling every day, and every sunset in the cove was more breathtaking than the last. The house was spotless, beautifully designed, and had everything we needed for the perfect island escape. The host was so kind and communicative, and we honestly can’t wait to come back! Having a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for the road that leads to the property.

Brief stay at Skylarking

Due to a flight cancellation we were able to only stay one night at Skylarking. Other than a very bumpy, rocky and steep access road, the villa was fine for us. A great view and a nice swimming hole below. Nicely equipped inside. The access path through the trees is a bit rough, especially for a roller bag.

Beautiful getaway

This cottage is the best place we have ever stayed at. If you think what you see is amazing, the pictures don't accurately depict the beauty of this place. It is SO MUCH MORE!!! If you are considering staying here, do yourself a favor and just book it. You will not regret it. Aside from the amazing opportunities this cottage has to offer, there is so much to see and do at the nearby towns, beaches, and restaurants. Don't think, just book.

The perfect retreat for couples

What a wonderful property that is as secluded as you could ever hope for, very lovely and with a private bay, only with the occasional boat that drops anchor. Just make sure you get an SUV to make it up the gravel hill, glad we saw the reviews with that recommendation.

Eleuthera get away.

Great place to get refueled. It is quiet beyond comprehension, beautiful scenery, peaceful. Wonder views. You’ll want to rent a vehicle with high ground clearance and traction. Sections of the access road can be a bit daunting. But overall it was a wonderful experience.

Peace and tranquility with a view

We had an ideal stay at Skylarking Cottage. The host is wonderful. The cottage itself is amazing complete with huge deck, with screened full length door...so you can hear the lapping of the sea, and catch the breeze while you sleep. There is also a outdoor, "Jungle Shower," it has rock walls on sides, so very private. There is also a place to grill with a picnic table, and a private rock slab beach area with two nice beach chairs with pads and an umbrella. You also have access to paddle boards, and a kayak. You may want to bring your own beach towels. We brought our own. One review we had read said they were provided, but we didn't find any. This is the perfect place for you if you are looking for a romantic getaway, or some place quiet and serene. Our two favorite restaurants were The Glass Window bar and grill and Daddy Joe's. Both are near where you are staying. There is not a TV or microwave, but wifi works great, so you can stream shows on your own device. There is quite a bit of walking on the paths to get to the cottage, and down to the beach. Also, rent an SUV, or get an SUV taxi, as the terrain/road in is rough. Totally worth it, though.

Off the Grid, but lacking nothing!

Skylarking is such a unique place to stay- it feels like you are in a tree house with the best view imaginable! As advertised, the views are stunning from all areas of the cottage; you can even see the beautiful blues of the Caribbean as you shower! The water is so very clear you can see turtles and rays swimming by while up on the large comfortable deck, which is like another room. The cottage was super clean, the bed firm but very comfy, there is a good amount of storage space, and Petegay was a wonderful hostess! She was easy to get in touch with, quick to respond to any questions, and gave us space but was there if we needed her. The outdoor shower was lovely; it has great water pressure and hot water is not an issue at all! As someone with allergies, I was worried about the resident cat but we found that once we made it clear she was not wanted, she did not show up again. The one thing that renters should know is that there is a stone walkway a little over 100 yards long that leads to the cottage which could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues. Book this place now and you will not be disappointed! It is amazing! Do not let the off the grid status fool you- you will be quite comfortable in this simple yet elegantly designed little oasis! see turtles

The Perfect Getaway

This is the perfect spot to get away from it all. The view is phenomenal and will recharge your soul within minutes. There are paddle boards and a kayak to explore the scenic shoreline. We saw sea turtles, rays, starfish, and multiple species of tropical fish. The driveway will require an SUV and you need to take it slow which is not a big deal. You will need water shoes or sturdy footwear for the stone paths and rocky portions of the waters edge. The cabin is off the grid so you won’t be able to use a hairdryer and there is no microwave but this was not an issue for us….we came to chill out and enjoy the natural surroundings. The AC was more than ample and the outdoor shower was perfect for this private location. Petagay, our host, was very responsive and super helpful. Can’t wait to go back, sit on the deck and gaze out over the ocean…..

Jungle and Beach Bliss

Extreme privacy in a jungle setting- CHECK Incredible water with abundant marine life- CHECK Comfortable off grid living on the most beautiful island in the Bahamas- Double CHECK! Do your research and learn how to access Twin Coves Beach- it’s well worth the journey. Consider somewhat limited eating options and expensive and limited grocery items. We highly recommend taking dry goods with you. Absolutely our favorite place to visit- if you like some adventure this is the place!
