Nice cottage with a great view

This is a nice option if staying on the Coral Bay side of the Island. The view is beautiful, as pictured, and the house was clean. There were some bugs, but that is probably part of island living.The house ran out of gas during our stay so we were unable to use the stove and dryer, but this was resolved by the end of the day. Management was responsive. Upon checkout, they claimed that 12 towels were missing, but we had put them in the washer as requested.

This is the perfect location if you want to be away from it all but still be close to everything. The location was quiet and serene. We loved having coffee on the porch in the morning with the gorgeous view. Every day there were birds singing, cute lizards running about, and hummingbirds in the trees. Most beaches and trails were only about a 15 minute drive. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional - highly recommend!

We celebrated our anniversary with a trip to the USVI. This property was the perfect spot for us to call home for a week while we explored all that St. John has to offer. We appreciated the "quiet side" of the island. This cottage is well located and easy to access, with convenient parking. The entire rental process was smooth and simple. The space is clean and comfortable with everything you need for your time at the beach. Of course the obvious highlight is the view - which is spectacular! I would highly recommend a stay at this property - it enhanced our trip to the Virgin Islands!

Getaway

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed at Sugarview and enjoyed our stay just as much. Kitchen is well stocked. View is spectacular! Communication with host and property manager was seem less.

Great place with great views

We had a lovely stay in the cottage for our honeymoon! It's a great property with incredible views and the stars at night are amazing. The kitchen is well equipped and we were super happy to see the air fryer! This is a super convenient location to stay. Definitely try out the Pink Corner if it's open. The check-in process was a little bumpy as we had to wait extra time for a greeter to meet us (not her fault - road was blocked). I think we would have been fine with just a self check-in since the door has a passcode lock and the villa's easy to find. Additionally, note that if there is a family in the larger villa next door you will hear children playing in the pool, so it's not as secluded/peaceful depending on who is in the house next door. It's still a lovely space, very clean, with an incredible balcony view and comfy accommodations!

Compact cottage with fantastc view

It's our second time staying here and hopefully we will be able to return again. We love staying on the quiet East end of St John and rarely return to Cruz Bay until it's time to leave. Rented some paddle boards for the week this time and explored all the small bays you can see from the deck. The kitchen is well equiped and we used the grill almost every night. Fresh fish for sale at the Calabash market was a plus.

Nice Cottage, But Poor Communication and No Internet

The cottage was nice, clean, and a good place to rest at night. However, it’s not really a place to hang out, as there weren’t any lounges on the deck. That wasn’t an issue for us since we headed to the beaches daily. We did notice a musty smell in the house, particularly in the bathroom and near the washing machine, which made me wonder if it was coming from the towels. The mustiness was also noticeable on the deck. The biggest issue, and the reason for the reduced rating, was the lack of functional internet. Although the internet worked for the TVs, it was unusable for anything else. It was clearly not a provider issue. The property manager was unresponsive, and even after contacting the owner, the issue was not resolved during our stay. With no cell service in the area, this was especially frustrating. For example, we were unable to rebook a boat day after a cancellation and couldn’t log in for work in the evenings as planned. A simple reboot of the router likely would have fixed the issue, but no one came out to assist. To add to the frustration, we noticed an alarm going off in the main house (possibly a smoke detector) and alerted the property manager but received no response. There was also no cooler included which we noticed while property manager was still there. She was unable to find it. Overall, while the cottage itself was pleasant, the lack of internet, poor communication from the property manager, and unresolved issues significantly impacted our experienc

Perfect family vacation!

We stayed at Sugarview Cottage for 10 days for our family vacation. From the booking to check out, everything was smooth and hustle free. The owner Matt was very quick to respond to my question, and the property manager Leo was extremely helpful during the stay. The house was beautiful and very clean and had everything we needed for the stay including the snorkeling masks/fins, cooler, and beach chairs. The house was located on a very quiet and private hill, yet close to the restaurant and super market. The view from the balcony was simply amazing. We love being the East end of the island, being away from the business. We also loved the beaches here as it was very quiet and rarely see many people. Besides, any beaches on STJ are easy drive from the house, so we explored almost all every day very easily. We would love to come back soon!

Perfect Getaway

Sugarview was the perfect villa for us! Situated on the quiet side of the island, we enjoyed outstanding views, beautiful night sky’s and privacy. The house was wonderfully equipped with beach chairs, snorkeling gear, back pack cooler. Everything that we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Secluded location but close to restaurants, beaches and boat charters. Cruz Bay was only a 25 minute drive. We will be back! Karen & Art

Family trip

As a wonderful rental in every way. Great views, comfortable sleeping accommodations, and a kitchen that was fully stocked with dinnerware, cookware, and incidentals like spices, mustard, coffee filters, etc The people managing the property were extremely helpful and responded almost immediately to every inquiry.

Just as Pictured - except the mildew

The Sugarvirw Cottage was just as pictured- in fact some of our pictures of the view look better than what’s shown on the listing. Communication and information was good as well. However, be warned that if you are allergic/sensitive to mildew or mold, this is not the house for you. The AC does not run enough to keep the strong odor of mildew down. I had significant allergy problems at the house because of this.

Perfect retreat!

Sugarview cottage was exactly what we were looking for - beautiful views (amazing sunrise, dark sky full of stars, lush greens and blue water) and so quiet and peaceful! The cottage itself was comfortable, clean, and stocked with needed supplies plus! This was our 2nd time in USVI and truly enjoyed staying here in Coral Bay.

Idyllic island retreat

Clean, cute and comfortable cottage! We loved sitting in the deck in the late afternoon with cocktails while looking out at peaceful Hurricane Hole after a day spent snorkeling at the beaches in Coral Bay or the North Shore. The kitchen was well stocked so we made dinner 5 of 7 nights with grilled fresh fish and fresh veggies from the Calabash Market. We enjoyed nightly stargazing on the deck and even a visit from a herd of donkeys it was a perfect retreat for a couple.

Clear Starry Nights

Great property. It is as described. Location is great if you like quiet seclusion. There is very little light pollution, so the night sky is spectacular. I’ve never seen so many bright stars. There is no noise either. So quiet and peaceful. The sunrises were spectacular. We visited Coral Bay restaurants and we drove across to Cruz Bay too. Nothing is too far away. This is a good location to explore the entire island.

Wonderful property, impeccably maintained. Fantastic view, very dark at night, no light pollution, wonderful for viewing stars. Property manager Drew excellent with communication. We will be staying here again.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at the villa. The views are amazing and great to wake up to every morning. The house is nicely equipped with all that you need for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet stay close to Coral Bay.

Gorgeous view from balcony

House is in perfect condition and almost everything is new. Balcony was private and quiet. No one was staying at nearby house on property. The view from the balcony was mostly ocean and National Forest. Truly beautiful. Easy to access from Coral Bay in jeep. Grocery stores nearby. We would happily return.

Coral Bay Jewel!

This property was the perfect spot for the two of us to enjoy the peace and quiet of Coral Bay. The cottage was stocked with every amenity without feeling cluttered. Snorkeling masks and fins were even provided! The large shower was so nice after a long day of sand and sun. And the VIEW! Breathtaking every single day. The grounds around the property were beautiful as well; local flowers and plants filled the walkways and felt like paradise every time we stepped out of the door. Cannot recommend this property enough. Joice met us in town so we could follow her up the hill. She was a wealth of knowledge and so bubbly. We loved having that greeting. 12/10.

The best VRBO option on St. John

This place was truly amazing. Everything about the property and hosts were top notch. They thought of every detail to make sure you had a comfortable stay. The couple items we forgot, they had! The setting is beautiful, the pictures on the listing do the view no justice. It is in a perfect location, a bit up the road from Coral Bay, but just a few minutes from everything. Comfortable beds, laundry, fully stocked kitchen, modern updates. It couldn’t have been any better. If you’re thinking about it… just do it… you won’t regret it.
