Come relax at the peaceful river house. It feels like a retreat right on the Kentucky River with a party-sized dock for easy river access. It’s a cozy cottage on stilts with a breakfast bar on the porch and swing on the patio. Be surrounded by nature and beautiful views of the river and palisades.

Tuck away in seclusion just minutes away from downtown Wilmore, Asbury University & Seminary. 35 minutes or less from LEX Bluegrass Airport, Keeneland and Shaker Village.

A special little nook along the Kentucky river. Quiet and peace I have not experienced before. I didn't want to leave. All the amenities you need and being pet-friendly was a huge relief. I know my big guy enjoyed it as much as I did. A must to visit!

Surroundings were peaceful and relaxing. View was excellent. Recliners and beds were very comfy! Kitchen was well stocked and so roomy! My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower.

A very charming house with a great view of the Kentucky River. Wi-Fi access was great to have. Owners take very good care of the property and make sure that the house has the amenities needed for your stay. Really nice to have the option of launching kayaks from the dock or going down the street to the boat ramp.Would stay here again.

If you love nature and God's amazing creation, you should come here. The adventure starts with the drive in, on a little winding road, with a rock wall on one side and the biggest, greenest, laziest river on the other side. Then there is the Highbridge railroad which is so high, it's absolutely spectacular! And the trains are delightful! The house is like a honeymooner's retreat. It is adorable, clean and comfortable. The hosts are responsive and helpful. And the Kentucky scenery is phenomenal!

Nice relaxing stay. The owner went above and beyond to notify us of the rising river during the flood of April 2025. They we able to notify us to check out a bit early and get ahead of the rising water to ensure we made it out safely. Thanks again.

Birthday Relaxation

Visited here for my Fiancees birthday. This is the cleanest VRBO we ever rented. The house had everything we needed for a relaxing time. Very nice scenery. This place is awesome for a weekend getaway.

Great spot

This vrbo is located just below where dix river joins the ky river and has a great view of high bridge, too. The house is newly remodeled and has a rally nice porch and dock. It was cozy when we stayed in December and would be even better in spring/summer/fall. We heard a few trains going over the bridge at night and watched them during the day. They did wake us up a couple times but it was worth it!

Beautiful!!

Nothing could beat relaxing on the back porch, listen for and watching the trains, and simply letting the river peacefully roll by. The house was spotless and had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. Highly recommended!

Peaceful

My husband and I loved our stay and were kicking ourselves for not finding it sooner! The home is beautiful, the view is amazing, accommodations were great, and the host was always accessible and eager to help. We spent time exploring High Bridge, hiking at the Jessamine Creek Gorge Trail, playing cards, scrabble, relaxing in the swing by the fire, and kayaking. We had a blast and the neighborhood was so quiet, a total bonus. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Quick, Peaceful Getaway

I was needing a change of scenery and wanted to spend the day on some water and this place was perfect! Just as described, close to Midway, and a dock right on the river! Spent 2 nights so I would have a full day to spend enjoying the outdoors. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The place is beautiful and fully equipped with everything you might need. Just know that the road driving in is narrow and curvy, it is close to high bridge and the train still runs (but not a lot and I enjoyed it), and you will need bug spray in the evening. I highly recommend this spot!

Beautiful place

The house and the view are gorgeous. The boat dock was great to sit and watch the river. Had some trouble keeping the shower at a steady temperature but would still 10/10 recommend

River house get away

The location and cleanliness of the house was amazing. The host had kayaks and swim ladder to use. The view off the deck was beautiful! We will definitely be back in the future. The mattress and pillows could use an upgrade but we had an amazing time with a great host. 10 out of 10 we would recommend again.

A peaceful escape

The property was wonderful and exactly as described. We only stayed 2 nights, but had plenty of time for exploring and relaxing and a little paddle time also. Fireworks on the 4th of July at RJ Corman were fantastic... we arrived an hour and 10min before the show and they were just closing the gate so we parked across the street and had a fantastic view and easier exit! Thank you for a short but wonderful visit.

So Relaxing!

I booked this cute little cottage for friends that was coming to town. We all loved the cottage and the peacefulness of the area. We had plenty of spaces to hang out at between the porch, the swing at the fireplace, and the dock. We will definitely be back!

every bit as good as the reviews

What a wonderful house and stunningly beautiful setting. Just right for two people. We drank coffee each morning on the porch overlooking the river and watched the fog on the river slowly burn off. The up-to-date features set this apart from other rentals we have stayed in. Very quiet. The lane is a great walk. Make sure you visit High Bridge Park. We hope to come back sometime.

Anniversary trip

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. We also brought our two pets. We really enjoyed our stay. The house is so clean and has everything you need. We brought our own food and did a lot of cooking there. The drive to the house takes you through the beautiful countryside and then into the canyon with cliffs on either side. We saw a ton of wildlife too. The house was 15 minutes from Wilmore which has an off leash dog park and some stores. It's also about 30 minutes from Lexington where we spent some time visiting historic sites. The host was very easy to communicate with and would definitely stay here again!!

Family getaway

This property was more than we expected. We loved it from the 1st day to the last day. The river view was so relaxing. The railroad was also relaxing after the 1st day. Definitely want to go back again.

You've reached our favorite place in the world - the end of the road! Awaiting you is the beautiful Kentucky River and its palisades (exposed rock cliffs). As you enter the neighborhood keep an eye out for a happy black lab that loves to bark at and chase cars.

There's a great mix of long-time (generations!) locals who are a fixture of the Highbridge community and newcomers (like us) who live full or part-time along the river-bottom. It's our favorite getaway!

Your stay is very close to Highbridge, an active railroad bridge.

When built in 1877, High Bridge was the highest railroad trestle in the world. As part of the busiest north-south route in the nation, it is still used heavily today.

We don't notice the train noise anymore but if you're a light sleeper, consider a sound machine app on your phone or earplugs.

If you go for walk, know that the pups who live on the street are free and friendly, though they will likely do their job and bark at you.

There is a remote possibility of the road being flooded during the winter. We will of course be happy to work with you if you need to cancel your booking due to flooding. It doesn't always happen but it is part of the adventure of living next to a river!

Have the entire place to yourself with beautiful views of the Kentucky River and private river access on the large dock.

House is on stilts and entered by stairs. Great room with amazing views includes living room, dining room and kitchen. Laundry is in the bathroom.

You'll have access to our entire .75 acre property including the large yard, patio, dock, and U-shaped gravel driveway.

Swimming off the dock is a great option when it’s warm enough!
