If life on the water is beckoning, few cozy cottages can rival this experience of glistening sunrises, radiant sunsets, westerly views that showcase waterfowl, the warm ocean breezes, and sandy beaches that are steps away.

Welcome to Surfside at Sandbridge (formerly Outdoor Resorts Virginia Beach) This luxury gated RV resort is located in Sandbridge on Back Bay and just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean.

"Surf Shack H2O" celebrates outdoor living, entertaining, and treasured memories. With so much to enjoy, set aside some time to relax by one of the two pools, enjoy fishing from the dock, paddle boarding on Back Bay, strolling on the beach, surfing the waves, playing tennis, pickleball, basketball, volleyball or taking the kids to the playground.

The cottage hosts up to five people (with some family exceptions). It features 2 bedrooms, (1 Q bed, 1 triple bunk bed, and 1 futon), and a full bath. There is a large covered deck with seating for 6. A fully equipped kitchen and gas propane grill.

Please no smoking. Resort quiet hours begin at 10 p.m.

Beautiful location. The pool is a 2 min walk and was clean easy to access. The DVD player is broken but the roku box worked. Plenty of bedding and kitchen supplies. Beach access is very close and you can either walk or drive. All day parking at the beach was very inexpensive compared to most places. "on-site" hostess was helpful, kind, and easy to get a hold of with questions.

It was a beautiful RV in a RV resort, just as the pictures described. So many amenities adding to our comfort. The girls loved fishing off the docks and kayaking. Swimming pool and Beach was very close. The sunset was breathtaking observed from a lovely deck. Susan was prompt in her answers and quick to give details of local points of interest. We were thrilled with the whole experience.

We had a wonderful stay! Susan answered our questions before we traveled and communicated how to access the property. Check-in was easy. Unit was clean and just like the photos. Bedding and towels were provided. Unit had WiFi. We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets from the deck each evening. Watched the wildlife each morning. The covered deck kept us dry during an afternoon rain. The walk to the beach was longer than we could do, but it was a short drive to a beach access. Would highly recommend for a couple or small family.

Couldn’t ask for more out of the “Surf Shack”! Had everything we needed there minus food and that was just a short drive away to some of the best fresh seafood have had in a while. Son, I think stayed on dock fishing the whole time. In short, excellent place in fabulous location. Will return.

Stunning view of Back Bay and a quiet neighborhood made it easy to relax. If you enjoy taking pictures, this is a great place to stay. Wildlife in the early mornings, afternoons and beautiful sunsets in the evenings. Also, it’s a quick walk to the beach and a couple of restaurants. It was cooler when we went, so we used the pickleball courts more than the swimming pools. Triple bunks were not meant for my taller teenagers, but the pullout/futon couch worked great for them. Susan was super easy to work with. Would definitely book again.

The cottage was cozy and clean. We enjoyed the sunset from the outside porch. We also enjoyed the kayaks and family atmosphere of the community. The closeness to the beach was convenient as well. The dryer may need to be repaired because it runs very rough.

Simply amazing!

I want to leave a bad review so no one else books this place but us. But our stay was amazing! Watching the sunset over the water while sitting on our private dock was the most peaceful I've felt in a very long time.

Location, location, location

We enjoyed this space during our stay. The porch is the perfect spot to stay cool & eat meals. We enjoyed fishing off the back dock and the sunsets over the canal. We even got to witness an amazing lightening storm at night over the water - beautiful! This property has a lot of amenities as compared to other VRBOS I have stayed. From spices, coffee, oils, laundry soap, baggies, beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards, etc. The location was perfect in proximity to the beach. We drove to the front parking area each day and parked from there it was a 2 minute walk to the sand on the beach. We appreciated the closeness having brought little kids. If you choose this place knowing it will be similar to camping you will be happy. The outdoor shower was so convenient for helping keep sand out of the living areas and made the chore of cleaning children after the beach so much easier. The community was safe and everyone was kind that we had any interaction with. We cannot comment on the pool because we did not use it. Sandbridge was a wonderful little beach town to experience!

Great place for fanily vacay!!

This was perfect for our family vacation. It has 2 separate rooms, a bunk room & a full size bedroom. Rught on the water wigh a dock. Beach just a short distance, walkable. Loved going there

Good views, smaller property, issues not resolved.

Very nice location, and it is a nice property, but it is a little small. Pool nearby, beach is pretty close as well. Great views. The biggest issue was a problem with the TV in the kids' room. Contacted the property owner, or whoever was taking care of it. Was told multiple times that someone would be out to fix it.. never happened.. this is after letting them know multiple tines the first few days there.. nothing was ever fixed.

Host ignored us as soon as there was a problem

The host, Susan Marshall, will act sweet and accommodating up until there is a problem and then she will ignore you. The bunk room where my children were supposed to sleep was infested with bugs crawling on the beds and ceiling. There were also cracks in the wall with a black substance coming onto the bedding. Due to these unsanitary conditions, we deemed it unsafe for our children. We promptly notified Susan Marshall, who promised assistance the next morning but failed to follow through. Despite repeated attempts to contact her, Susan remained unresponsive for over four hours, leaving us stranded with our 3 small children in the property. We understand that this property is on the bay and that there will be bugs, but the bugs were in the room furthest from the door and we kept the door closed. I have spent weeks at archaeological sites in a tent and I have worked in developing countries. I understand that bugs live among us, but this was different - there were bugs crawling all over the three beds in the bunk room. The level of infestation we encountered inside the bunk room was unacceptable and unlike anything I've experienced. Susan Marshall failed to address these issues and she continues to ignore us and our repeated attempts at a reimbursement. Susan’s lack of communication and disregard for our concerns was deeply troubling and unprofessional. I strongly advise against booking this property due to Susan Marshall’s unprofessional behavior once a problem arose.

Unplugging from hectic life

Property was nice and very quiet other than the frogs (lol). Beach is about a block away so very close and not super touristy. Sunsets are breathtaking. Host was very helpful with suggestions about food, the area and just general questions.

Graduation Vacation

Beautiful views, amazing sunsets, plenty of water front activities. In the mornings we watched the osprey and heron fishing and in the evenings the otters playing off the docks. An easy 15 minute walk to the oceanfront. A beautiful quiet location to hang out or have easy access to all of the amenities in Virginia Beach.

Beautiful and so relaxing

It was a very nice day. The water was so nice at night to sit on the porch and be able to enjoy looking out over the water and watching the sunset drinking coffee, watching the sunrise, the pools and everything are very convenient. Clean and easy to get to. I would definitely stay there again

Exactly what is advertised

Pros: The place is very cute, air-conditioning works OUTSTANDING and it is a very beautiful location. Cons: Understanding the location, the bugs are horrible. As soon as the sun starts going down.. do not open any doors or sit outside. It is not the owners fault but the resort should run truck through to spray. I had myself and 4 children (11 and below) and i would recommend this place again in a heart beat if you are only coming for the beach. Or for a weekend romantic getaway. For the kids (who had a blast) the drive to anywhere but pungo is long. We did a lot (boardwalk, zoo, aquarium ect..) and it would be nicer to be able to run back for lunches, breaks.. that being said again if you just want a break or just the beach... this is a great place and the property manager Susan is awesome and very accessible.

Beautiful View

Our most favorite part of this cute cottage is sitting on the covered porch watching the breathtaking sunsets. Enjoyed taking the kayaks out that were furnished directly from our dock then rinsing off with the outdoor shower. The cottage had ample room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The pool was right across the street which was super convenient. The locals were very friendly. We will definitely be back again for vacation.

A Small Piece of Heaven

Plenty of directions were given and Susan our host was in communication with us throughout the booking process and arrival, even though we arrived late. The trailer was clean, spacious and comfortable, with beds that were comfortable with plenty of pillows and quilts. It was well stocked with towels, toilet paper, paper goods, soap, dish detergent, pots, pans, food stuffs, and extras such as coffee makers, air purifier and space heater. There was a stacked washer and dryer, such a convenience! There were closets in both bedrooms and loads of storage in the bathroom. The shower was a step up shower, spacious enough to have a seat area and a plug so you could soak weary feet. There was an outside shower and a large shaded deck with a sturdy table set, wonderful for outside dining to gaze on the beautiful scenery. Kayaks were stored under the deck and a bike was provided. I loved stepping off the deck, walking 25 feet, to a dock from which we launched our paddle boards. The Back Bay was off our back porch and we enjoyed watching the cranes walking along the water's edge and huge bass jumping out of the water. It was peaceful and beautiful to stay here at this small piece of heaven. I look forward to returning and have sent pictures of this beautiful oasis to my friends and family.
