Old Style beach house on Hanalei Bay;stunning mountain view, ocean breezes

The Old Style is a stand alone beach house just steps from the sand as seen above (Standard occupancy is 2*). There is lots of light, great views & a very restful feeling. Single wall redwood was the preferred building style back in the day. It is beautifully painted to accentuate the style of the time.

The floor plan is open to enjoy the living dining & kitchen areas while taking in the views. There is a full kitchen for cooking up island fish & fare and other tropical treats. The bedroom is cool and comfortable with a king bed. In the living room are two pune'e or day beds that could accommodate children in addition. It is called the Old Style since it was once the old vicarage house of the Wai'oli Mission.

The lanai is a fabulous place to relax at the end of a hard day lounging around on the beach or discovering more of Kauai. You are about 4 blocks to Hanalei town with its cool shops and restaurants. Nice walk home after dinner.

There is a washer & dryer set in a newly renovated laundry hut just steps away for your laundry needs and a hot & cold outside shower for after the beach. Folks love this house & we have many returning guests.

*Listed rate is for the Standard Occupancy of 2, but home can accommodate up to 4. Extra guest fee beyond two is $20+tax /per night / per person. Only 2 extra guests are allowed and this fee is collected after booking.

The State of Hawaii requires a rental agreement. The rental agreement has different cancellation policies than VRBO.

Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract. Also, please know that we cannot accommodate charging of electric vehicles at this property at this time.

Outdoor motion-activated security cameras monitor the driveway entrances and open yard to help ensure only registered guests are on the grounds.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Steps to the beach which is great. The problem is the house is so close to the house next door that you can hear everything that’s going on there. We unfortunately had a family with a baby and a toddler that screamed constantly. The old fashioned windows don’t block the sound so we spent one full week listening to a screaming toddler. The house needs to be updated and the furniture is really uncomfortable. Not a huge deal but if you have lousy weather and you’re inside, you’re sitting on ridiculously uncomfortable furniture and listening to your neighbors. Without AC and proper windows, I cannot recommend this house at all.

We enjoyed our stay in the Old Style cottage to the fullest, being just a few steps over the grass from stunning Hanalei beach and enjoying the comfort of the big bed, all the amenities and certainly also the Lanai with the BBQ. Btw. I think you can judge the quality of your accommodation by the cleanliness of the BBQ which in this case was impeccable. A rare exception to other stays we had on the Hawaiian islands! We had a lovely time here and can wholeheartedly recommend this cottage, we're glad that we found it after extensive research.

Location cannot be beat - right on the beach with uninterrupted view of ocean. Short walk to the center. House is well provisioned for cooking, washing etc.!

The Absolute Best!

This is probably our 35th stay at the cottages on Hanalei Bay, so many excellent memories. A truly beautiful, relaxing place to be. Love everything about it.

Cute bungalow, great location!

We had a great stay here. The bungalow is just a quick walk across the grass to the beach- amazing location! The internet was not working for us, but we were able to get help to get it working the next day.

Very cute and functional and awesome location! Nice extras like a surfboard, beach chairs and umbrella, etc. while not update still a very nice place to stay!

Pretty much fine but the Weber grill needs to be replaced. Vents and grills rusted. Vents inoperable

A cute beach cottage in a great location

We had a wonderful time at this cute beach cottage! It’s set back from the water so it’s quieter than being right on the beach while still providing great views and an easy walk to the water. We were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen which was remarkably well stocked with cooking supplies so that we could eat in most nights. It’s a quick drive or short walk to Hanalei town and the weekly Farmer’s Market is right down the street so you can get away with not having to drive if you don’t want to. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit if it’s just the two of us!

The place was as advertised--certainly old, but clean and well-maintained. Would not hesitate to stay here again.This section of Weke was busier than expected and the neighbors two doors to the East have a yappy ankle-biter that would go off predictably at 7 pm and 9 pm. Then quiet.Ray was great to work with. We'll be back...in spite of the yappy dog. Aloha and mahalo

Honeymoon Getaway

This property was perfect for my wife and I to finish our 10 day honeymoon to Hawaii. We got to relax in this beautiful home only steps from the beach. And the mountainous backdrop was stunning. Perfect distance from town, could drive, walk, or bike. We even jogged into town early one morning for breakfast. The beach was beautiful and the breeze kept the house nice and cool. Would definitely stay here again and recommend for anyone looking for an awesome trip.

Hanalei paradise

I’m a bit hesitant to tell you all how great our stay was in fear it won’t be available next time! Our little Hanelei paradise was perfect! Right on the beach at the end of town. Close enough to walk everywhere, far enough away to be alone. There is no A/C, so be aware of your season, but in Sept/Oct, it is perfect! Can’t say enough good things. Aloha

Hanalei =amazing

My wife and I celebrated our 1st anniversary in Hanalei and in Old Style. From the house to location to beauty we couldn’t have asked for more. Our communication with property owners, check in, and amazing reception with Prosecco and delicious star fruit were all superb. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back. Just a short beach walk to town and a bit further to the pier. The view from the main room to the ocean each day made us love it even more. Thanks you!

Location, location, location

Tiny house on one of Hawaii best beaches. Literally walk out the back to a huge grassy yard that ends on the beach. The house is very modest which was fine but all the appliances are pretty cheap, (not what you would expect when pay so much per night) but towels, lawn furniture, toys for the beach, all included. Bring coins for the laundry.
