La StoneHouse en Duck Lake fue hecha a mano por el compositor de canciones de Montana, David Walburn, como un refugio privado para entusiastas al aire libre, excursionistas, pescadores, cazadores y viajeros con mentalidad ecológica.

Aquellos que aprecian la belleza salvaje del lado este de Montana, también apreciarán el enfoque artesanal simple de esta casa rústica única con exquisitas vistas de las montañas de Glacier Park.

StoneHouse se encuentra en una hermosa cresta escénica con vistas panorámicas desde Cut Bank Plains hasta Chief Mountain y está ubicado en el centro para acceder rápidamente a St. Mary's y Many Glacier apuntan al Parque Nacional Glacier.

David diseñó y construyó el StoneHouse utilizando materiales de construcción ecológicos para mejorar su durabilidad y eficiencia energética contra el clima salvaje del este de Montana. El nivel principal de StoneHouse tiene capacidad para seis personas como máximo.

El baño del nivel principal es un conjunto simple con lavabo, tocador y ducha / bañera. *** Tenga en cuenta que estamos en aguas duras y el baño tiene "manchas" naturales de agua mineral de nuestro pozo.

We loved our stay - the rustic charm, open living spaces, and incredible mountain views were unforgettable. The location was perfect. Just a note that the lake access pictured is currently dried up due to drought, but it didn’t take away from our experience. We’d happily recommend this house to others!

Great place! This cabin was perfect. It was close to the St. Mary's and Many Glacier entrances to GNP. The house had plenty of space for our group of 6 and we all had comfy beds. The kitchen was nice to have so we could make our own coffee, cook and prepare our lunches for our hikes! David is friendly and so helpful! If this is available for your dates, book it now! Thanks David!!

I really have nothing but great things to say about Dave and JJ’s place. You can really feel the love in the home! The porch on the back is wonderful for sunrises and the seats in the front give you a view that you can only get in Montana…..the mountains are impressive. I can say enough about how comfortable the bed was I slept like a baby every night. The horses that free ranged just really added to the ambiance of the place. Highly recommend!!!

Stunning views & excellent location!

What a unique experience in a stunning setting! We loved our stay at Stone House! Communication with the owner was excellent. Cabin was very clean and provided a convenient, comfortable home base for our East Glacier and Waterton adventures. During our stay, we enjoyed lots of hiking in parts of East Glacier, Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and Waterton National Park. Stone House is very close to the East entrance in St Mary and to the entrance at Many Glacier. It’s only about an hour to Two Medicine and 45 minutes to Waterton. We hope to stay again the future!

Great Lodge in Great Location!

We had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer! The lodge is even better in-person than the photos and description in the listing. Great location to easily get to Many Glacier and the East Side Entrance to Glacier National Park. The lodge is also just a great place to relax and enjoy stunning views of the nearby mountains. We got to meet the owner David as we were checking out, and he was a delight--offering to take photos of our group and great interacting with our friends' four year old. We would definitely stay again!

A Perfect Stay in a Perfect Location!

David, we would like to say thank you for sharing your home with us, we sincerely appreciate it. What a great place! We stayed for 4 nights in late September 2024. The home was spotless and had everything we needed. The home is in the perfect location for accessing everything on the east side of Glacier and Waterton. Be sure to stock up on groceries and things you need before you get there. Availability is limited, especially late in the season. David's communication was awesome. We have rented several VRBO homes, and this is the first time the owner has made it a point to call me with important details prior to arrival. He answered tons of questions and gave us lots of tips. The home has tons of personal touches that are very cool. It's rustic, but it has local artwork and personal touches that made it feel very special. David, thanks for keeping your CD's in the house, we listened to your music several times. We wish we could have seen you live. We only saw a couple deer, no moose or other wildlife. We saw scat and prints, and the neighbor said some black bears have been around. We were a little disappointed that this portion of the lake is totally dry, but that can't be controlled. Again, thank you for sharing your home with us. We will definitely book again if we return to the area.

Peaceful, quiet cabin with great views of Glacier NP

A very peaceful, relaxing vacation, unconnected from the outside world. We enjoyed it very much. The cabin had all the amenities necessary for a relaxing stay. St. Mary’s is close enough for all the last needs. We highly recommend the Stone House for a stay to explore Glacier NP.

Another great stay at the StoneHouse

I believe this is our 5th or 6th stay here, we've kind of lost track. We enjoy the peace and quiet of the Stonehouse versus the chaos and poor restaurant options in the park, but with relatively quick access to St. Mary's, Many Glacier and some of the best hiking and wildlife opportunities that Glacier Park has to offer. Once again, we saw a mother Black Bear and her two cubs out the dining room picture window just across the road in the meadow. I'm guessing it might be the same mom we've seen in previous years. Thanks again David and family for sharing your home with us. We hope to be back in 2026.

Grart location for hiking Glacier National Park

Geat location on the east side of Glacier National Park providing quick access to St. Mary's Valley, Logan's Pass, and Manny Glacier Valley sections of the park. Also just a 45 minute drive to Waterton National Park in Canada.

Great location, spacious, & clean

Owner responded promptly to all questions. Setting was gorgeous. It had ample supplies of towels, kitchen towels, dishes, plus many extras. Very close to St Mary's & Many Glacier.

Unique and stunning location on the "quiet side" of GNP

Great location for easy access to Many Glacier and St. Mary's entrances to GNP. Clean, comfortable, well stocked. Enjoy a most stunning view of the mountains of Glacier from the dining room table all day, every day. Loved the quiet, unplugged, remoteness of this location. No wifi. Verizon service worked best. Great communication from host at all times before, during and after the visit. Shop before you arrive as grocery stores nearby are limited (host told us that ahead of time as well) Saw moose, deer and cows on the land behind the house. Would stay there again and will recommend to friends. Perfect for those who want a quieter, Glacier National Park experience.

Gateway to the East Side

Great launching point for Many Glacier, St Mary's, and Two Medicine. House slept 4 very comfortably and everything worked well. Great views of Glacier National Park. We definitely would rent again!

Incredible location and views

We enjoyed the house and the property. The views and location are ideal for East side (i.e., less crowded) entry into the park. Our only negative is that the basement is musty smelling. It would improve the house if there was a way to minimize that smell. While it wasn't a problem for our family members that stayed downstairs, there are others for whom that would have been unpleasant. Communication with owner was easy.

East Glacier Gateway

We really enjoyed our stay at the Stone House! Equipped with everything we needed, great location, and the best part was the views all around!! There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views from both the inside and the outside of the house. We would definitely recommend this house to others!

David Walburn - Montana Singer•Songwriter, avid outdoor enthusiast, fly fisherman, hunter, hiker, skier, and homesteader. From 1999 to 2014, I worked at the historic Many Glacier Hotel as a resident musician, performing acoustic concerts for Glacier Park guests. I have lived in Montana for over 30 years and it's here that I feel most at home. Four of those summers were spent working nights performing and the days building the StoneHouse. It has been my mission to build something unique that people will enjoy, appreciate, and, hopefully, wholly experience this amazing landscape with its vast and beautiful wilderness. This is not your cookie-cutter vacation rental. It is meant for those who have an adventurous spirit and a love of the American West, especially Montana!

My wife and I have been summer campers on Montana's east side for over 20 years and have fallen in love with its rugged beauty and wild landscape. We created a space - a traveler's rest - that blends with this landscape. My wife and I realized that this space should be shared by those adventure travelers who want a different lodging experience other than the usual motel/hotel. It is meant for those who want to explore off the main highway, unplug from modern life for a while, and appreciate the native country and culture of Montana.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Our family enjoys waking up at The StoneHouse wondering what the day's adventure will bring. We have caught mammoth rainbows on a fly rod, rode the float tube on endless quests searching for the perfect swimming hole, took the spotting scope for bird watching, bear spotting, and star gazing. We have gone on endless hikes into Glacier, had some banner kite flying days. In the winter we have trekked in snow shoes, sledded across the Duck's Head, skijored, ice fished, wrote kids songs, talked with owls and star gazed for hours, even experiencing the Northern Lights on occasion. What will your adventure be?
