Disfrutar de la vida en la costa de Maine con vistas a las montañas del Parque Nacional Acadia. 'Picea' (del latín, abeto) es una casa de campo amplio situado en Bass Harbor. La casa ofrece un refugio privado y tranquilo a poca distancia al muelle de la ciudad de Bass Harbor, biblioteca Bernard, y Thurston, uno de los mejores libras de langosta en Mount Desert Island.

Sentarse en la amplia terraza o en la sala de estar soleado y ver águilas sobre sus cabezas. Por la noche, disfrutar de un acogedor fuego en la chimenea del salón.

House was clean and wonderfully situated for visiting Acadia and the surrounding area. Susan was very responsive to questions and suggestions about the area. Beal’s and Thurstons were great for dinner and close by. Thank you Susan for making this friends vacations a great memory.

We all enjoyed our stay at Picea… the little cottage in the woods. It was comfortable, clean with rustic appeal. Just a few things to mention..,,the cottage could use a little refreshing… such as the water faucets in kitchen (no spray function) and bathrooms, the water filter needs to be changed in the Brita type water system. But most problematic of all, when using the laundry, our clothes were left with large stains of a lite rust color in random areas on the clothing. And we noticed the same stains on the owners white towels as well.

Family Vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shorefront Cottage on Bass Harbor. It was clean, quiet and peaceful with beautiful views of Bass Harbor. We did lots of hiking while we were there. We were very comfortable, we had plenty of space, we were able to keep it nice and cool on hot days and warm on chilly evenings. Loved the fully equipped kitchen. We would love to stay there again!

much needed break from the grind of life

3 of us came from Arizona and TN. We enjoyed hiking, eating lobster, hanging out at this beautiful house. Susan was a wonderful host and we loved the house and the views. Hope to get back to Acadia soon. Thanks again

Maine, the way life should be

This is our second year staying at Picea and with Susan and Dave Edson. Picea is a wonderful spot and the Edison's are very nice people. They are always there to help but are very respectful of your privacy. This house and experience exemplifies, "Maine, the way life should be."

Quiet, clean and beautiful Mt. Desert Island home

This home in Bernard on the water on the south side of Mt. Desert Island was a wonderful and very comfortable home for our group of 5 adults. It was clean and had all we needed to relax, prepare meals, and sleep well after the day exploring the region. The owners were quickly responsive to any questions and had suggestions on local hiking spots and where to eat close by. We enjoyed our time on the porch relaxing in the cool summer weather (we are from FL so it felt like heaven to us), soaking in the smell of the trees, and the peacefulness of silence other than birds and the breeze.

Great location!

This was our favorite stay on Mt. Desert Island! Susan was a wonderful host and easily accessible. She gave us some great recommendations for hikes and restaurants nearby. Our place had all the amenities we needed. Comfortable beds, great views and loved sitting out on the deck in the morning and evening. Right on the water!

Beautiful property with everything you need. Incredible view of Bass Harbor, water access, and very comfortable beds and bedrooms. Susan and her husband are very responsive and kind. You cannot go wrong staying in this lovely home.

Susan and her husband were so welcoming to their lovely house in Bernard. They provided tips and were always available to answer questions. The house is roomy and comfortable and has a lovely view of the water.

Wonderful Week in Bernard

We have rented several properties on MDI, and this is in the top 3. It is even better than the pictures. Right on the water and close to the village of Bernard. Plenty of space for us and our college-age children (which worked well since the weather wasn’t great). Comfortable, clean, well-supplied and tastefully decorated. Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you, Susan!

Magic in Maine

Loved the location and view! Homeowners were responsive to any issues that arrived. We had many meals at the different restaurants in the different towns which were all great! -especially Thurston's down the road! We decided to cook a few dinners at the cottage which was fine for simple meals. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience!!

Relaxing Stay

The cottage was just as described and had all the amenities we could need! The beds were very comfortable too. We especially enjoyed the large deck that overlooked the lake. If you're looking for a dock to fish or launch a boat, there was none though the scenery was stunning. The location was somewhat remote however only a 30-minute drive to downtown Bar Harbour. We found our stay incredibly relaxing and our hosts accommodating.

Nous étions 2 couples d’amis et avons trouvé la maison exceptionnelle. La vue sur l’eau est super et change selon les marées. La maison est très bien équipée, rien ne manque pour passer une semaine sans souci et tout fonctionne très bien. Susan propose même un distributeur d’eau si on n’aime pas le goût de l’eau du robinet. Belle attention. La literie est de très bonne qualité. Même si c’était le mois d’août, nous avons dû allumer deux fois le chauffage en soirée : il fonctionnait rapidement et efficacement et nous avons pu l’arrêter après juste quelques heures. La décoration de la maison est vraiment faite avec beaucoup de goût, les peintures s’inspirent des environs, des détails rappellent la mer et la pêche aux homards. Nous nous sommes sentis chez nous et avons quitté cette maison avec regrets. Susan s’est vraiment bien occupée de nous, soucieuse que tout se passe bien (nous sommes arrivés tard et la lumière était même allumée). Elle nous a également aidés par avance pour organiser une sortie en mer pour la pêche et la dégustation d’homard.

Loved the quiet side of the island

Nice location that felt like a real getaway. Clean, friendly, peaceful place. The cottage is much bigger than expected. Three bedrooms for two people was overkill & we couldn't use the stove/oven, but it was lovely all the same. One thing to note: incredibly steep & tricky driveway to get to the entrance of the house if you've more than one vehicle. It's a very hilly island though and it adds to the feeling of seclusion. Would definitely recommend Picea for larger groups and families to appreciate it's full spectrum. :)

Wonderful stay at Picea

Picea, the house we rented, was wonderful and our host, Susan, was very responsive, helpful and a pleasure to meet. The house is exactly as advertised. Everything was clean, in order and ready for us when we arrived. It's cozy and right on the water near John's Island at the upper reaches of Bass Harbor. Convenient to both Northeast and Southwest Harbor. Susan gave us several great tips on where to eat, how to avoid the crowds at Thurston's (great tip that saved us an hour) and how to get around the traffic leaving the Island on Saturday. She is a wonderful host. I would highly recommend this rental.

Nice peaceful vacation in Bernard, Maine

We had a very pleasant stay at Picea vacation rental. The home has large windows and a nice deck overlooking the harbor. Acadia National park is close where we hiked, biked on carriage trails and went swimming at Echo lake. Loved the lobster roll and lobster stew at Thurstons. We also went on a whaling cruise and saw humpback whales. Overall, a great vacation!

Dave and I are New Englanders who have lived in Maine for over 40 years. We have been full time residents in our home in Bernard for 12 years.
Having grown up on the ocean, I love having property where I can watch how the weather and tides change our view of Bass Harbor on a daily basis.

Bernard is one of five villages in the town of Tremont. Bernard is a small area which affords walking distance from our house to the post office, library, and town wharf .
Bass Harbor is a lobster fishing harbor which also accommodates some pleasure boats. Nearby islands can be seen from vantage points in the village.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

"Picea" is located away from Bernard Road and affords a good deal of privacy.
The cottage is 75 feet from the water, which is tidal. Watching the changing tide , seeing eagles circling around, and all the different types of shore birds is fun!
