The Canary at Lake of Egypt

The Canary is a small home with an open floor plan located directly on the Lake of Egypt in Creal Springs, IL. Perfect for a small family or couple’s retreat. Swim safely in the quiet cove with no thru traffic, enjoy morning coffee on the perch or in the spa overlooking the lake surrounded by trees and local wildlife. Many nearby attractions including hiking, fishing, boating, wineries, and much more.

The space
Entire house, keyless entry, free uncovered parking, access to dock and swimming area, paddle boat and 4 kayaks, spa tub. Pontoon boat rental available to qualified renters, although we do not rent it on the major summer holiday weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and boat is in winter storage from November through March depending on weather.

Entire house, dock, swimming area, spa tub. Ask owner about free local boat ramp use if needed.
Other things to note
Loft bedroom requires ladder entry

New house has been built next door, not visible in pictures, but does not interfere with spa privacy.

We loved our time at the canary. It was our second time visiting and we will be back. The house is so comfortable and we loved sitting on the dock fishing and watching the sunset. Erin was great with communication and provided everything we needed.

This adorable property is a perfect spot, nestled at the end of a private nook but with easy access to the lake. The house is well-appointed with everything you could ask for and clean as could be. I look forward to staying here again someday.

When we first arrived at the Canary & began to swing open the door we were immediately hit by the smell of clean!! As we walked through the door the view from the backside of the house was absolutely beautiful! Large windows filled the rooms with cheer & peace! The Canary offered everything we could’ve asked for!!

Great getaway

We loved our visit! It was quiet and relaxing. The house was perfect for a get away! We caught fish from the dock and love kayaking on the lake. We will defiantly stay here again.

Great location! Great value. Excellent dock with paddle boat and kayaks. Quiet cove of the lake. Great fishing! Perfect for our family of 2 boys and 2 adults. Owners were very responsive, also we were able to rent a boat through owners as well! We have visited multiple times and loved this location.

Cute home on the lake with a dock, kayaks and the availability of a rental pontoon. Well stocked with toiletries and utensils. Located on a short lane with an only a few other homes and was very quiet. Part of the lake the dock is on is known as The Pond and as very quiet. This is our 4th trip to Lake of Egypt using VRBO and we enjoyed this home. We didn’t look at the loft as it was just the two of us.

Great little place!

This was the perfect house for our weekend getaway. Very clean, the host was very responsive, and we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to stay here again next time.

Anniversary Getaway

This was a beautiful lakehouse to relax and unwind in after a day of hiking and biking. It's in close proximity to wineries, shopping and outdoor activities while remaining secluded with a beautiful view.

We enjoyed our stay at the house. There was plenty to do from kayaks to hot tub and grilling, etc. Would stay there again.

This is a beautiful property, very clean and very quiet. It was well stocked with all the accesories needed. The property mangers were fantastic and very accommodating, we are so glad we picked this property for our vacation. We will most definatly being staying here again.

Amazing view and great staycation

From the moment that I booked the Canary, Erin had been great with communication. The property offered a great view of the lake and docks through its giant windows and doors on the main level. The property was easy to find and was super clean upon arrival. This is a great place to stay whether traveling from far away or just having a staycation like we did. Very relaxing and will definitely book again.

I grew up on Lake of Egypt and am happy to live here full time so my kids can have the same unforgettable experience. My husband and I own and manage 2 short term rentals as well as a nearby boat rehab and repair shop. We love sharing Southern Illinois and all it has to offer with guests from around the world!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The Canary is located directly on the water in a quiet and fairly private no wake cove with very little road or water traffic. We love that our kids can kayak, swim, and paddle boat safely right off the dock. Several amenities are just minutes away including restaurants, Just Add Water bait and tackle shop, Dollar General, and even an ice cream shop. The City of Marion is just a short drive and has anything else you could need from shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Peace and quiet, being tucked away in a small cove gives The Canary a wonderful sense of tranquility. Morning coffee on the perch is always an experience with squirrels, birds, deer, rabbits, foxes, turtles, fish, and more. It is also very easy to get to and doesn't require miles of hilly, curvy roads.
