While we’re delighted to hear about the aspects you enjoyed, I wanted to take a moment to address the concerns you raised. As I explained before you booked your stay, I was unaware of a 10% discount being applied to our listing. I reached out to VRBO and they attributed it to a “glitch in the system”. I clarified that we were unable to offer the discount and I adjusted the rental rate accordingly. One of the pros you mentioned was the affordability. The rental rate for our cottage is in line with, if not less expensive than, compatible oceanfront rentals. Additionally, we have not increased our rates during peak season for the past 5 years. We request guests leave the cottage in the condition they would like to find it. This ensures that the cleaner can complete her work within a reasonable time. Our cleaner, who has been with us for over 10 years, rarely charges additional fees. However, if extra cleaning is required due to significant messes or damages, additional charges are applied. In this case, our cleaner spent an extra two hours addressing issues such as stained couch cushions (every cushion on both couches required laundering which takes a great amount of time), marker stains on the floor and bunk bedding (bedding was soaked and washed 2x to get it out), and other issues I attempted to review with you before charging the extra cleaning fee but did not receive a response.
