Acerca de este alojamiento
Elegant West Blvd Home w/ Cedar Sauna
This home on Abnb has 60 reviews, 4.93 stars, and is listed under a Superhost.
This sweet scent-free home, centrally located in the quiet West Blvd Historic District, was built and furnished with attention to quality, detail, and comfort. With everything you need to prepare meals, a cedar sauna, and large open deck, you'll find plenty of spaces to love.
You'll have 3 bedrooms (all on ground floor), 2 full bathrooms, family room, modern kitchen, laundry, and dining room. It's a short walk to Starbucks (2 blocks), groceries, chocolatier, restaurants, and hiking trails. Close to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the Black Hills. One hour to Deadwood. One mile from Monument Hospital.
The entire house has craftsman-quality wood-frame windows. All the windows open, if you like the breeze, and many have double blinds for privacy. Except for the Sol and Luna bedrooms, which have carpet, all rooms have either hardwood floors (including master bedroom) or stone tile (kitchen and dining room). There are several options for mood lighting throughout the house. We have decorated with a minimalist approach to avoid a crowded feel, and hence the space remains open and inviting. The home is scent-free. There will likely be several musical instruments laying around (including a piano) so feel free to pick one up (except the piano - it's quite heavy) and rock out.
Master Suite - The master suite has hardwood floors and is furnished with a king bed, a writing desk, a dresser, plenty of closet space to hang your clothes, a quiet overhead fan, and still has plenty of space for a couple yoga mats. There is direct access to the large deck through the French glass doors. The bedroom has a private bath featuring a custom stand-up large shower stall and dual sinks.
Bedrooms - The two additional bedrooms have queen beds, plenty of closet space, and drawers. There is a work space in each room for a computer. They share a bathroom with a shower and large, deep tub.
Kitchen - The kitchen has been updated with modern cabinetry and lighting. It features a work space for a laptop or writing. You'll find all the tools you'll need to cook most meals including an Instapot, a griddle, lots of quality pots and pans, utensils, cake and pie pans, flat cooking sheets, crock pot, toaster and microwave, blender, and a dishwasher to clean up the mess! We've stocked it with spices, quality oils, condiments, tea, coffee, flour, sugar, honey, beans, butter... the list goes on. Because we live here in the winter we know that it will have everything you need to cook just about anything.
Dining room - The dining room features a custom cherry table and chairs handmade by a local craftsman, and a hutch where you'll find games, puzzles, a cribbage board, cards, and reading material. The dining room opens onto the deck through a sliding glass door.
Living room - The living room has a comfy leather sofa and chairs. There is a shoji screen dividing the main living room and a work space with 2 flat screen monitors and cables to plug into them on an electric adjustable (stand-up or sit) desk. There are many plants creating a pleasant feel.
Deck - On the large deck you'll find a gas grill and comfortable seating around a table. The deck faces east so you can enjoy the morning sun with a cup of coffee or tea and your favorite person, or relax with a book and a brew in the evening shade.
Laundry - is in the basement as well as another large family room stocked with books. The basement family room also serves as a storage space, but you probably won't be down there much.
Sauna - The cedar sauna is in the basement. Instructions are posted near the sauna. Note that the sauna is complete, functional, and awesome. However the laundry room is still being worked on, and is bare with only a washer and dryer. In the future I will be adding a shower in the room that the sauna is in, a new floor and wall coverings, etc...
Thermostats - There are two thermostats - one for the bedrooms, and one for the common spaces - that control heat and AC separately in these spaces.
Parking - There is street parking in front of the house, which is the easiest way to access the front door, but you can also park in the driveway in the back if you like. From the back, there are stairs around to the front, and stairs up to your deck. There is space for several vehicles in both places.
There is optional motorcycle parking in the garage. Let us know if you need to use that and we will make it available.
Our space is exceptional, polished, clean, and scent free. We expect that you respect this. Please remove shoes at the door. We don't allow pets, smoking, parties, or candles.
The house is located in a distinguished, quiet neighborhood. Please respect the neighbors (and our relationship with them!) by minimizing noise after 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends.

I've hosted over 600 guests using CouchSurfing (@ariklee), all with positive reviews. I also host on AirBnB with Superhost status and mostly 5-star reviews for this home. I love meeting new people and opening up my beautiful home to travelers.
I'm an engineer with a local private firm. I travel frequently, mostly designing and installing systems that measure ground movement. I often visit mines to help them make it safer for the miners. I also teach yoga (ashtanga). On my days off I enjoy working on home-improvement projects, rock climbing in the Black Hills Needles, and swimming in the myriad of nearby cold-water lakes.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Our home is centrally located in the West Boulevard Historic District, the most distinguished and desirable neighborhood in Rapid City, known by locals as “The Boulevard”. Our neighborhood is safe, quiet, and friendly. Explore the Boulevard and surrounding neighborhood by taking a walk under the towering tree canopy to discover the rich architecture of turn-of-the-century Victorian, Georgian, Dutch Colonial, beautiful Foursquare, and charming California Bungalow-style homes.
If you'd rather ride or cycle through the Ponderosa Pine forest, a trailhead to the Skyline mountain-bike trail system is two blocks to the northwest.
Easy access to the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, the Badlands, Devil's Tower, and downtown Rapid City make this home one of the best in the area for travelers hoping to see it all!
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
This sweet home, centrally located in the quiet West Blvd Historic District, was built and furnished with attention to quality, detail, and comfort. With a large living room, stand-up desk (which does go up and down with an electric motor), cedar sauna, very private master bedroom, and large open deck, you'll find plenty of spaces to love.
We live here in the fall, winter, and spring, so the home is stocked with everything you'll need to prepare meals, including spices, oils, dry goods, and all cooking utensils. If there is something that we don't have that you could use, let us know!
