This is a wonderful house in a super spot. The view of mirror lake each morning and watching the fog roll off the lake is amazing. The hot tub, the dock, the location, all make this such a great vacation spot. We also appreciate how clean the house is. This was our 5th visit, and hoping to come back again next year

Wonderful property, plenty of space for our family. House was well stocked and had everything we needed. It was great to have access to the kayaks, pedal boat, and canoe. We will definitely return next year!

This house is absolutely gorgeous. It sits on the north end of the lake where it seemed like every day a breeze softly blew in from the water. It has large windows that let in so much beautiful sunlight. It was wonderful to just sit in the chair and read a book with the windows open enjoying that lake breeze.There's so much room here for your family to just spread out. Everyone has their own space. The fishing was great off the dock as we caught several smallmouth bass. The paddle boards, kayak and canoe were also used during the week. The lake is a non-motorized lake, and that makes it a safer, quieter, and even better stay.The Olympic theme through out the house was also very cool! If you are a lacrosse family and you have tournaments in Placid this is most definitely the place to stay. You were just two minutes to the Northwood school and 10 minutes or less to the North Elba athletic fields. There are multiple restaurants for every taste within walking distance in Downtown Placid .Hannaford grocery is less than five minutes away. Lake Placid Marina is less than a quarter of a mile away for all your charter needs. I recommend Cpt. Zack Horrock!We are already making plans to return early next summer. if this property is available for your dates, you need to book it. It truly is a special place that will create memories ! Communication with Barb was simple and easy. She always gave quick responses and answered all of my questions. She is good people.

You should stay here!

This is an excellent rental property. The pictures make it look dark and drab inside, but it is actually beautiful inside. We were 3 families, totaling 6 adults and 5 kids, and there was plenty of space for everyone. Loved having 5 full bathrooms. The house is directly on Mirror Lake which is so beautiful and peaceful, as no motor boats are allowed. The house has more boats than listed- 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, 1 paddle board, and 1 paddle boat- plus plenty of life vests in various sizes. That was a pleasant surprise. The map in the listing shows the house on the south side of Mirror Lake, which is where the town of Lake Placid is. But it is actually on the northern tip, about a mile from town- but still walkable, we did it every day. The kitchen was fully stocked, there were plenty of towels, etc., and the beds were comfortable. I would 100% stay here again if I ever make it back to lake Placid. You can’t beat it!!

Thanksgiving

Home was perfect! Beautifully decorated, inviting and relaxing. Location is great, easy walk to restaurants and shopping. There were 11 of us and the home never felt crowded. The lake view is spectacular. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Another great year!

This is our 2nd year in a row staying at Barb’s place and it was just as great of a stay as last year. The access to the lake and proximity to town and attractions can’t be beat. We’ve already booked the trip again for next year.

A dream vacation for us

Location is outstanding!! Comfortable place to stay!! Loved having kayak, paddleboat and canoe. Plenty of space for everyone!! Minor issue with grill. This place helped make our first family vacation with our adult children and grandchildren all together very special! We hope to return here !!!

Perfect stay!

The pictures do not do this beautiful house justice! It is absolutely gorgeous and in a perfect location. It is about a 15 minute walk into town to the shops and restaurants. Check in process was easy and Barb was an amazing host. She provided quick responses to all of my questions, which I really appreciated. The house was spotless upon arrival and everything was in working order. Being on the lake was priceless. The kids loved being able to take out the paddle board and kayaks every day and it was especially helpful that life jackets were provided, one even small enough for my 5 year old. I would highly recommend this house and am hoping to return soon. Thanks Barb for a great vacation!

Beautiful but HOT, HOT, HOT

The home is beautiful and the location is amazing. The problem was that there is no air-conditioning. It was in the mid 80's and the upstairs bedrooms were like ovens and made sleep impossible. The house was just stifling hot - we ate out all the time just to get in some air-conditioning.

Perfect family place

Birches lodge was the perfect place to stay in Lake Placid. We loved being right on Mirror Lake in an amazing house with plenty of room for the 9 of us to relax. The kitchen was well stocked, the interior/exterior of the house was beautiful and clean, and there were plenty of things to keep us entertained, including kayaks, hot tub, outdoor fireplace, games, and common areas for the family to gather. Downtown was an enjoyable walking distance. Wonderful experience!

A Perfect Vacation Home

This vacation property is second to none. Home is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean, and has every amenity you could imagine. The plentiful Olympic memorabilia throughout the house was fascinating . We enjoyed the enormous deck and hot tub overlooking the lake during the day and fired up the outdoor fireplace as the evenings got cooler. All in all, we came home with some wonderful family memories.

Best Vacation Ever!

This beautiful Adirondack home had it all to accommodate our 5 grown children plus significant others. The house is custom built and tastefully decorated along with being ideally situated to walk to all that Lake Placid has to offer. Barb the owner was great to work with. We can't wait to come back! Great Vacation with Family and Friends

This is a beautiful house that many of us thought was even nicer than the photos. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms made it ideal for our large group (three families). It is beautifully decorated with an Adirondack theme. Being directly on Mirror Lake was a highlight as we able to take advantage of canoes and kayaks and paddle the lake. There is a well maintained sidewalk that goes completely around the lake, so getting around is easy. It is about a 20 minute walk into town (the house is on the North side of the lake, not on the South side like the map indicates). The owner was fantastic and quick to respond to any questions. We highly recommend this house if you're looking to enjoy Lake Placid and the Adirondacks.

Great location but problem checking in

It’s a beautiful lakefront property. Lots of space inside, quiet, close to restaurants, shops. Upon check-in, which was listed at 4 o’clock, we realized that the property including sheets, towels, refrigerator floors, bathrooms had not been cleaned at all. I contacted the property manager who told me that I should leave for a few hours win a cleaning person would come and not to come back until then and to go to a restaurant or shop. This was unhelpful as I had already done that during the day when you arrive at a property you want to unpack and situate yourself and maybe spend time there! The cleaning person arrived at 4:30, there had been a misunderstanding about the day, which is forgivable, however, we were confined to a living room space until 7:30 PM when she left so we could not eat, or cook, unpack, or use the facilities. After contacting VRBO, they said they would contact the host. However, we were unable to use the property until the evening, but we’re paying 500 a night for that. That is not acceptable at all, and no offer of compensation was provided to me the rest of the time in the property was very nice and it was a great house otherwise once we got clean bathrooms and sheets on our bed etc. and could use the refrigerator, kitchen etc.
