This J. Carson Bowler designed home boasts a light-filled great room with cathedral ceilings and a newly remodeled chef’s kitchen upstairs. Take in the views of the meadow and ocean while cooking and dining. Grab a drink, put on a record and get cozy around the wood-burning fireplace. Downstairs find 2 large bedrooms with deluxe king beds, 2 full baths and a family room with flat-screen TV. Curl up to read, watch movies or play board games from the well-stocked games cabinet. Have a creative project in mind or need to squeeze in a bit of work in-between outdoor activities? Hawk Haven has you covered with two comfortable work spaces.
Each room opens to the outdoors. Please note this is a multi-level home, both bathrooms downstairs are located on the west side of the house. The family room opens onto the back deck for grilling and al fresco dining. Enjoy morning coffee or late afternoon drinks in the enclosed backyard. One dog allowed. It’s a really sweet home that’s nicely curated, has a lovely view of the ocean, and makes for a relaxing getaway. We really liked the mattress, slept very well! We were lucky to be there on a sunny weekend and enjoyed the outdoor sitting areas. It’s a short walk to the bluff trail and only a 7min drive from the Lodge.

pure joy - delightful house and location
Our family stayed at Hawk Haven for the week between Christmas and New Year. We love Sea Ranch and have stayed in other houses there, but this one was by far the best. The architecture is a masterpiece of light and functionality. The furnishings are fresh and fun. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for serious cooking. We enjoyed the stereo turntable and vinyl record collection, the spacious hot tub, the patio with large gas grill and the woodburning fireplace. The management company, locally based in Gualala, checked with us regularly to ensure that everything was meeting our expectations. We will definitely rent this house again if it's available.

We generally leave very positive reviews and were looking forward to a relaxing stay in Sea Ranch. Unfortunately, our experience was impacted by several issues.The biggest problem was a major tree-cutting and stump-grinding project taking place on the neighboring property throughout our stay. The noise was loud and continuous during much of the day, and there was a strong smell of gasoline and equipment exhaust. As a result, we were unable to comfortably enjoy the outdoor spaces, keep windows open, or fully relax. The disturbance was significant enough that we decided to leave a couple of days earlier than planned.We were also surprised by the bedroom and bathroom layout. The listing advertises 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, which led us to assume each bedroom would have convenient access to its own bathroom. Instead, one bedroom has two bathrooms connected to it, while guests using the other bedroom must go up and down two flights of stairs to reach a bathroom located adjacent to the other bedroom. We found this arrangement awkward and lacking privacy.The home itself has character and was reasonably well stocked. However, it was not as clean as we expected upon arrival, and there were bugs throughout the house during our stay.To be fair, the neighboring tree work was beyond the owner’s control. However, it had a substantial impact on our vacation and, had we known about it in advance, we likely would have chosen different dates or another property.Overall, the house has some appealing qualities, but between the neighboring construction activity, the unusual bathroom configuration, and the cleanliness concerns, the experience fell short of our expectations.
