Family Vacation 2023

We had an amazing stay. We had other family in Galveston at the same time which made it even better. Our house was exactly what we needed to accommodate our family of 5. Will for sure be back.

Fishing days

It’s is the basics. Appeared very old but comfortable enough. The inside looks much better than the outside. It seemed we may have been the first guests since the winter. All the seasoning were hard from moisture and the shower curtains were mildewed.

We thank you for your stay. It's such a convenient location for fishing or beachcombing. The house was originally built as a family beach getaway with solid wood knotty pine walls which we have refinished to shine beautifully. The 1950's tropical vibe is featured in decor but furnishings are newer and the cabin is clean. We have replaced the shower curtain liner and apologize for the oversight. The salty coastal humidity is an ever present friend and foe.

Galveston 70.3 Half Ironman

Stayed for the weekend to do a race and the place was quiet and very clean. It was a perfect getaway. Fairly close to everything with lots of room around the property. Would be a great place for kids and the whole family. The only recommendations I would have to make it even better is a nice set of cookware and olive oil and a nice selection of spices, and also keep standard condiments in the fridge. Other than that, a great economical place for those on a budget. I would definitely come back again. Owners are super friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable!! Thanks Linda!!

Rough stay but dog friendly

Stayed in May, every day was something "new"- 1. intense mildew smell, did not go away even with open windows 2. NOT professionally cleaned. Found roaches/mouse droppings under bed/sink 3. Yes... the light fixture in the kitchen fell onto the kitchen table. Missed us and 2 laptops. (Seemed to be missing the nut on the bolt/bracket?). Broken blinds/oven/mop... ONE STAR for great location/ wifi and being dog friendly!

Cozy Comfort

The cabin was exactly as described. It went our needs. My three year old slept on the pull out couch and slept great both nights we stayed. My husband and I couldn’t share a bed due to him being 6’4” and 285lbs, however, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very warm and the cable didn’t work in the bedroom area but it wasn’t detrimental to our overall satisfaction. It was perfect after an entire day at the beach and being able to come back and just hang out and relax. The home is located right down the road from the beach you can drive on which was a plus for us. Linda was very patient with me and helpful during the entire process from booking to checking in. Our dog seemed to be comfortable there as well because he constantly snuggled under the covers! If you are looking for something simple and close to the beach then this place will work!

Great beach home base

This house was the perfect size for our family. Lots of seating options and a great layout. The beds were super comfy and though I wouldn't recommend adults sleeping on the pull out couch, it worked well for my kiddos. The home was very clean and having an outdoor shower downstairs was an absolute life saver with my kids. Even though it's location made it a little more difficult to get to a grocery store or the main attractions in town, we loved how quiet the neighborhood was, the less traffic, and how the nearby beaches were way less crowded. We couldn't walk to a beach from the house, but there were several nice beaches only a couple minutes away by car. The only small complaints we have are about the AC and the kitchen. The poor little window units couldn't keep up with the 100+ degree weather we had every day we were there, so the afternoons/evenings got a little warm. And for the kitchen, there was only maybe 3 pans in the cabinets which made cooking for my family of 6 a little difficult. Overall we had an amazing stay and my kids are already begging to go back!

Perfection! Best family stay ever! Home away from home!

This place is as incredible! I have 2 teenage tall, strong kids and my mother staying with me in this awesome place! We never felt cramped or on top of each other- yet it was cozy enough we got to have a lot good moments together as well! The outdoor shower made us happy to rinse off all the sand before we went inside. Our host was amazing and we had incredible communication with her! She was quick to answer questions (we have never stayed anywhere like this before!) and did everything to make our stay even better! The beds are incredibly comfortable and the sheets are so soft. My tall, strong kiddos slept on the fold out without issue and the other couch was comfortable as well, one of my kids fell asleep on it every night as well! We loved having a light in the indoor shower too. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. Everything was beyond perfection to us. It was so nice to be able to focus on family time and not have to worry at all about any issues. We will be back soon! Thank you for offering a wonderful, affordable, clean, amazing home away from home!

It is not a big house but does have several separate (but open) areas that give everyone their own space. I love the country island feel that this house offers yet it is a short drive to the beach. Just right!

I stayed here with my husband and my two sons (teenager and 7 year old). It was just right for us! There was plenty of room and then some. It was an efficiency style beach house with a lot of open space. The AC was COLD! Not complaining though. Older but not run down. It was really cute and very clean. The shower down stairs was perfect for cleaning off after our trips to the beach. It is located right before Galveston state park which was nice! My husband and son fished the whole trip. Only complaint would be that the fish cleaning station was not cleaned and the trash at the curb had fish in it so it was stinky. We decided not to use the station and just take our fish home on ice. No big deal, maybe just take a look at that area before new renters arrive in the future.

Cute but so many things don’t work

The apartment is very old and cute. An old fishing cabin. So we expected OLD. What we didn’t expect was the front door not being able to close or lock. The back door also doesn’t have a lock on it. On defense of the owner they did come out twice to fix the door. Many of the lights were burnt out and didn’t work. They did come and put new lights in. The stove/oven in home is 60 years old. If you plan on cooking it is very difficult to cook on and it gets exceptionally hot on the outside so be careful if you have children. There is no temperature indicators on some of the dials. Great place to watch fireworks on 4th of July. The under sink kitchen cabinets were very dirty and falling apart. The beds extremely comfy. It was 100 degrees every day we were there and the two window air conditioners had trouble keeping up. The windows have Hurricane blinds on them and do not open so forget looking outside. It is very dark in this studio. I felt like if they are renting this they should put money in to update stove and cabinets. Also the tv remote did not work. We didn’t care but someone might. It was difficult figuring out tv. The ceiling fans were broken and made a tremendous amount of noise when running. The railing up the steps were splintered and so were the steps. It was hard to use the railing without getting splinters. Very close to state park. This was also a plus. We enjoyed our time but will look for another cottage in future.

Cozy nice place

Great place. Two A/C window units kept it cold at night and cool during the hot summer days! Perfect size for a family! Me and my two teenage kids had plenty of room and never felt crowded. Having the outside shower is great after returning from beach. Open floor plan, which was great! I would recommend. Stove and fridge etc on the older side but it didn’t bother me, because they worked great.

We love the island life! We love the cool fresh breeze from the water. We love the feel of warm sand between our toes and the smell of salt air. We love the free airshow of pelicans flying just for us! We love fresh snapper with chunks of blue crab. We love Hawaiian shaved ice on the beach!! We love the Victorican architecture and the Art Walks. We love driving for miles and being able to see the ocean! And all of this on Galveston Island!

This is a central location to the west end of the island. Very near the beach. About 1/4 mile. In the middle of wide open spaces. Country living. Down the street from where our friends keep their horses. Still only 20 minutes away from the Historic Strand Shopping and University of Texas Medical Branch. Lots of resturants easily accessible.
