This home was beautiful and spotless, and the location couldn’t have been better. Fantastic views. It felt welcoming and comfortable, making our stay truly enjoyable. Best of all we were tucked away from others making it feel peaceful.

Our stay at Darren‘s place was amazing! It was a central location to so many amazing hikes and biking areas and waterfalls! Our boys loved the yard and we loved sitting on the porch and looking at grandfather Mountain!

Rental was clean and comfortable. The only negative was the rough driveway, which was steep and had a few deep ruts. We enjoyed the view from the deck, and appreciated the easy (and early) check-in.

Kitchen, bedrooms and baths were all fully furnished. Very clean overall. Beautiful views of the woods. Had a family of deer come see us 2 out of the 3 mornings we were there which was great. Host was very responsive to any questions we had. Heads up as they state the driveway is very steep and rough so you need a 4WD vehicle to get up it. Overall, very nice!

Perfect couples retreat

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin was clean, spacious, and close to Grandfather Mountain. We loved the views and scenery. There was only one ladybug who greeted us on day 2! Overall, cute place and would love to stay again.

I think this will be a yearly stay for my family.

Beautiful property. Well stocked with kitchen supplies to cook with. Very clean. Great communication with host. Would certainly stay again! I am already planning a couples only trip there for just my fiancé and me.

Beautiful Getaway

Darren’s Place was a wonderful family place to stay. Gorgeous views of Grandfather and surrounding mountains. Rocking on the front porch with those views and watching the kids play in the huge yard was just what we needed! The host thought of everything, from detailed check in steps to having all the essentials at hand, including baby gear. The location was very convenient to all we had planned!

Wonderful home! Clean, spacious, well equipped. Loved the fully stocked coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar area! Lots of yard space for the kids to run around. There is even a hammock, tight rope and a play area (for older kids, mine are 12 and 10 and they had a great time out there!) lots of rocking chairs on the porch, very quiet, and peaceful. Perfect location if you are looking to do winter activities. Conveniently between Appalachian Ski Mountain, Hawksnest snow tubing, Sugar Mountain, and Beech Mountain resorts. Otter Falls trail was also a short drive away. There are also a bunch of ski rental companies around to rent ski equipment, cheaper than the resorts! Also, the host was wonderful, easy to get in touch with, very welcoming.

I wanted to share how much we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Darren’s place. Everything was well-stocked, and the property had everything we needed. It had beautiful, breathtaking mountain views from both the front and back. We really enjoyed the quiet evenings on the porch. While there were some other homes nearby, we couldn’t see them from the property, which made it feel very secluded and peaceful. Additionally, my son really enjoyed the large TV they had.Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience!

Wonderful!

My sister was visiting from Australia so I booked this place for us to have a girls weekend in the mountains. We could not have been happier! Perfect location - close to Grandfather mountain, Boone, Blowing Rock and plenty more. The house was wonderful. Great view of Grandfather mountain from the porch, plenty of space and incredibly well stocked. I will absolutely be back with my husband!

Great Stay!

We loved the place! It wasn't the cleanest place we have ever stayed. Cobwebs were all over the place and the floor didn't look to be swept very well. There were a ton of lady bugs but that didn't bother us. It was overall a wonderful stay.

Best weekend

Darren’s Place was perfect for our family weekend getaway. Tucked away, but still close to everything. The house was clean and had all we needed. Check in and check out was simple. Communication was fantastic. The porch (and the kitchen sink!) was the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful view of Grandfather. We are definitely coming back to Darren’s place. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Quaint Hideaway

Very lovely mountain hideaway, but worth it for me. The road to the cabin is a little washy if it rains a lot, but a 4x4 or AWD with clearance will do. The scenery is spectacular, especially off the front porch. This is a two level cabin with living quarters on second floor. No AC, but the ceiling fans and box fans do just right for summer months.I enjoyed my stay.

Nice place to stay

Nice, fairly secluded property. The only negative for me was the tons of lady bugs in the house (1,000s of them). The driveway is very rough which I don't believe was mentioned on the ad, but as long as you have a car that has decent clearance it's fine. The price was excellent compared to others in the area.

Lovely stay in the mountains near Boone

This was a very clean property with a beautiful front porch. It's priced VERY fairly for the area and was nice and quiet. My favorite parts: the fans in each room to help with white noise, the big couches to comfortably watch the giant tv, the front porch with all its chairs, the cleanliness. I wish it had: better pillows (if you're picky, maybe bring your own), a few more amenities like soap, shampoo, conditioner, some spices, oils, or condiments in the kitchen. It's pretty bare bones.

Perfect Mountain Getaway!!

This beautiful house is the perfect spot for those who are looking for something secluded and away from the typical commercial properties. It sits high up on a ridge in the shadow of Grandfather Mountain giving you an amazing up close view. Any pictures really don’t do it justice! Then from the kitchen window there is an absolutely breathtaking panoramic view of the blue ridge mountains. The house itself is very well constructed with a spacious living area and a well furnished kitchen with plenty of space at a huge kitchen table! The bathrooms were very modern and clean. The porch is a wonderful touch for the mountain vacation experience with lots of room and seating for everyone. I highly recommend this amazing property and definitely plan on returning on our annual vacation to the area.

Overall, a wonderful stay! Property owner was quick to respond, living space and amenities were accurately listed and perfect for our needs and the large fire pit was a nice bonus. The best part was the view from the front porch, it was so peaceful to start our day in the rockers with our coffee.
