About Summerhouse Resort - Panama City Beach, Florida

INITIAL SUPPLIES - UPON ARRIVAL
Panhandle Getaways furnishes a few essential items for guests to utilize until they can get to the grocery store. Initial Supplies include: Dishwasher soap, small washing machine powder, each bathroom has amenities (like hotel but NOT restocked) shampoo, conditioner, soap bar and body wash. One roll of toilet paper in each bathroom & one paper towel roll in the kitchen. All bed linens & towels are provided. We encourage guests to bring beach towels for use at the pool and beach.

Great view!

Nice location (away from the busier part of town), comfy beds, great view! The condo was clean and was exactly what we were looking for! Only thing that could have used a little attention was the kitchen drawers could have been vacuumed out a bit and maybe a fresh coat of paint in some areas. Would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful Beaches and Location

Our overall stay was nice but not fantastic. The Thomas Drive area is the best part of PCB if you are looking for something a little more slower paced and not so crowded. The condo in comparison to other short-term rentals I have stayed in was average. The decor is a bit out of date. The kitchen is lacking in utensils and cookware. They did not even have a baking sheet. Luckily, other family members were staying in another condo located on the property and we were able to borrow theirs. We really appreciated the beach chair rental that was included and also the extra chairs and beach items being available for us to use but did not care for the storage of some of these items being in the 2nd bedroom closet. It was stuffed with beach chairs, floats, etc. The balcony is quite small and over crowded with furniture. We understand that the area is still working on recovering from hurricanes but the building was also under construction and some walkways were blocked by construction trucks. Also, there were high winds while we were there and a piece of metal was blown from the roof and landed on my nieces car causing some damage. Overall, not the best of experiences but the grounds were nice and we enjoyed the pool while the ocean was rough and double red flags the entire time we were there. Also, the cleaning crew could do a better job as there were some pieces of food found when we opened the pull-out sofa. Also, the towel rod in the guest bath was broken. With some decor updates and better cleaning crew, this is a nice place to stay.

Sorry about your issues. I think we have many utensils and cookware. Also last know we had 2 or 3 cookie/baking sheets. The chairs on balcony are stackable and you could have put them inside somewhere. Decor out if date-the pictures are on the website for all to see. Too much in 2nd bedroom-maybe I need to take some stuff away--no one has said that before. I will talk with cleaning crew. Your car damage and weather somewhat ruin your stay--sorry for that. Jim

Great Condo!

Me and my family came down for the weekend to go deep sea fishing at Captain Andersons marina. This condo was just minutes from there. The room was very very clean and exactly as described and photographed. Jim was very responsive to us with any questions we had. I would def recommended staying here and we will book in the future!

Enjoyed our stay!

The master bed was SO comfortable! My twin boys slept on the pull out and said it was also very comfortable. Never waited to long for the elevator. All staff was friendly. Loved having the beach chairs and the short walk to the beach. The snack bar was great when open. Activities at the pool and the arcade were great for my older kids. Overall a great stay!

Great Location for Kids

The whole area was great for kids! The resort even had free activities for the kids/families throughout the week. The only downside was the one elevator for our building was down half of our stay and we were on the 9th floor. The owner was apologetic and super nice. We would stay there again even if the elevator is broken!

Great location. Condo was “eh”

The good things- -Communication with the host was great, he provided info quickly via text. -Great condo location on Thomas Drive -Included beach chairs (a plus!) -well stocked with kitchen needs The not so good - -Elevator was always backed up. It was broken multiple days of our stay. Only one way up & down unless you like stairs. -Condo is very small. Mirrored walls make the rooms look larger in the photos. -Condo felt dirty. The countertops and main areas were clean but there is dirty buildup around the edges of the floors, on the nooks & crannies of the doors and mouldings… just needs a good deep cleaning. -dryer lint basket kept falling out & made me nervous we’d start a fire in the vents by using the dryer. -WiFi is supplied via the condo’s public WiFi not a secure, private connection

Everything you need in one spot!

This rental has the most beautiful view!!! You have the pools, hot tub, and beach right in your view. The rental was clean and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great condo and beautiful location

The rental process was super easy and the property owner was super helpful and responsive. Our first problem happened because my group arrived at two different times. The first group arrived shortly after check in and they were able to get keys to the condo. However, when my group arrived about 3 hours later the machine was broken and they could not give us keys. This would have been a minor problem except the first group was not at the condo and it took them a while to get back so we started the vacation sitting in the parking lot. This is not the property owner’s fault but an unfortunate situation. We never got additional keys. Once we got into the condo it was as described in the listing. We happened to catch it while the front door was being replaced so that wasn’t finished While we were there. It appeared other condos were going through this process and we rented the property last minute so I attribute that our situation and not the property owners. Not a big deal, we just had to keep our little one away from the spray foam and insulation that was visible. Otherwise the condo was awesome! Our only other issues were with the property management and other company that takes care of the beach chairs for the owner. The property is advertised with a heated pool as one of the perks but the management wouldn’t actually turn on the heater. They said that’s only done November to February and we stayed in October. The pools were soo cold during our time there no one swam in any of them, even the kiddie pool. That was a bummer for us as with the little one we hoped to swim with him in the pool. The last issue was with the company that handles the beach chairs. They set them out and put them up every day and when we first went to use them they were very, very rude to my family concerning putting out and using a chair. They initially refused to put chairs out but finally decided to do it. We then went ahead and added our names and spots to the List so they would put them out each morning during our stay. The next day, our chairs were there and then the staff tried to tell us we couldn’t use them because for some reason our names disappeared from the list. A half our discussion later we got that resolved and didn’t have any more issues. So overall, we plan to keep this property on our list of places to go but we were not happy with the on site management. There were various small issues but the condo and beach were awesome!

Maintenance of building

5 out of 7 days the elevators did not work. If you wanted food, excursions, or to sit on the beach ( which did not happen) you had to be a tri- Athelete to do 9 floors each time you needed to leave the room. We’re 52 and did it 5 times for groceries and to eat out only twice. Not as I planned. Luggage was a nightmare as you can only imagine. No one comes with only one small carry on. By the 5 th day my husband was irrate and I did not blame him at all. I was in shock that we only got to go to the beach itself one day. I could have left coolers downstairs and filled in my car but the stairwells also as you can imagine are 120 degrees . 9 flights is a negative for me.

Review

Condo complex is right on the beach and it was great to have the 3 pools, hot tub and easy access to the beach. it had only 50-60% occupancy when we were there , so we really enjoyed the pools , did not have much wait times on elevator and the beach was not crowded at all. That being said the condo unit is older and we were not happy with the cleaning job, the hallway bathroom door was jammed and we could not close it which rendered that toilet almost unusable , the balcony sliding door took a lot of effort to open/close and the closets are packed with stuff and there is not really any place to keep your stuff in them. I would not recommend this unit if you are looking to stay for a long time. For us it was ok as we were there for the pools and the beach.

The bathroom pocket door came off the track in the wall. Hallway wall had to be partially removed to fix it--not a quick fix. It is now working fine. The 2nd bedroom-- I have removed some items inside closet and there is more room now. The cleaning staff was told about cleanliness. The condo is what the pictures are online. Sorry about the issues. jim

Our stay

Communication with the owners was great. The condo was as advertised. There were only a few negatives from our trip that stuck out-cockroaches and trash. On a few occasions, we encountered cockroaches around the pool and the grilling area. There was a dead cockroach under the couch when we arrived. It’s still there. We overfilled our trash bags a couple of times, making it difficult to fit in the chute. There was no clearly marked location to take out the trash. We used the big dumpster in the parking lot. Even with that being said, we would stay again. The staff was very friendly.

Perfect location! Very nice condo!

We enjoyed our stay in this 2 bedroom condo. Having two separate beds in the 2nd bedroom was a bonus that many do not include. We had friends in the area, and the table was large enough for all 6 of us to have several meals together. The beach was beautiful and clean, there are two beach chairs with an umbrella available each day, two pools, a whirlpool, as well as 2 pool tables on the first floor. The staff were very friendly. We had a slight problem with the television service, which they quickly fixed, as well as replacing a couple of light bulbs. We loved being able to see and hear the ocean whenever we wanted from our room. Thanks for a beautiful spring break!

Have been going to summerhouse for 25 years. Although unit was nice the property needs alot of work. It was obvious it was not from Hurricane! Lobby was dirty and building was always so dark.
