Las montañas están vivas dentro y por fuera de esta hermosa casa de montaña. Dentro disfrutar, muebles creativos coloridos y acabados que cumplido y resuene la belleza en el otro lado de la puerta. Fuera de disfrutar de un gran patio con mucho espacio corriendo para niños de todas las edades. Amplias terrazas y porches ofrecen asientos envolventes de las vistas y sonidos de la naturaleza. Cada temporada tiene una razón para disfrutar de la Guarida del Oso. Dentro de disfrutar de una chimenea de leña, mesa de billar, WIFI y TV múltiple. Another nice stay

House in need of tlc

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Been coming here for 16 years and always hard to see house not being kept up better. The living room furniture needs replaced and the area rug needs a good cleaning. The beds would be so much better if foam toppers or something could be used to make them less hard. The pool table room had patches all over it but was never repainted. The back deck furniture is filthy. We love the location and have so many beautiful memories here. Hoping some tlc can restore this house to its former glory bc it has so much potential.

Perfect for Family

We had a great stay at Bears Lair. Our family of 8 (4 kids, 4 adults) loved how open the downstairs was. It was perfect to hang in different spots and still be able to all mingle. House is conveniently located at base of Mountian just inside Old Timberlines gate. If you like to fish theres 2 beautiful lakes and 2 ponds to fish on.The only thing I can say could be updated are the photos online. Pictures show a room witb 2 bunks perfect for 4 siblings 3-8. Kids were super excited, and sadly disappointed when we arrived and no bunks. This however, was a minor thing.

Secluded

We were there in late October. Leaves were bright, and falling beautifully. We couldn't see any neighbors. Loved that. The house was clean and cozy warm. There were deer in the yard. Had a great time. Playing pool and putting together puzzles and playing cards. Enjoyed Mama Mia's restaurant. Try the Big Timber beer.

We loved the wood burning fireplace in the cozy LR & especially loved being so close to Dolly Sods for some great hikes. Highly recommend. . We would definintely go back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Couldn't ask for a better location to Timberline. The place had plenty of space, was great with two families and 5 kids. Pool table and hot tub was a hit. The property was a bit "tired", and unfortunately was a bit dirty when we arrived (really the kitchen/dining room - bathrooms and bedrooms were sparkling), but other than that was a great place and we'd likely return.

Snowboarding was right down the road and we found great restaurants in nearby Davis. The hot tub appeared new and we got to enjoy it in the snow! The home had everything you need, although my only recommendation would be to bring your own pillow.

The 2 main bedroom suites & the 3rd & 4th bedrooms have a shared connected bathroom were perfect for the 6 of us. We loved the front & back decks & firepit. The huge laundry room came in handy. No air conditioning was surprising but it wasn’t bad. I couldn’t find a hose to spray off the dirty outdoor chairs. I loved bringing my pup. Awesome location too.

Nice location and property

Decent property had a very nice stay,my granddaughter loved it.She made friends with the big bear stuffed animal,she cried when we left because she didn’t want to leave him.My only complaint would be we would’ve liked to know about the canoe you can use no one told us until we asked another visitor who was on the dock by then it was our last night and it started to rain.Also you pay a $65 fee for the hot tub which doesn’t even work got in and rite back out very disappointed.Other than that we had an awesome time thank you so much for sharing your property with us.😊

Family Ski Trip

Well stocked with all the things a good mountain house needs. Hot tub needs replaced and as mentioned in an earlier comment, the beds are a bit firm so if you like a softer feel you'll need to pack accordingly.

Ford's Paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent the weekend at Bear Lair. There was continuous snow and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the cold weather. We spent time skiing at Timberline, tubing and ice skating at Canaan, and sledding at Black Water Falls. This home was in the perfect location for it all. This is an older home with easy access and tons of room. Our dog, Ford, had a wonderful time exploring the large yard and looking out the large windows. We enjoyed sitting by the fire watching it snow, but this house had a fantastic heating system. The hot tub was a popular spot after a day of winter sports. The owners are currently working on updating the property. Overall, it was clean but needs a good spring cleaning. This won't be our only trip to Bear's Lair and we sure do appreciate the owners sharing their home with us.

The furniture needs to be updated. The ottoman is still really gross and putting a blanket on it doesn't make it better. I know these homes are hard to maintain but little things can go a long way. Hope the owners get a handle on the repairs.

The house could use some updates and some TLC. The owners appear to be slowly working on the property. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The management company was absolutely wonderful! They were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Would definitely recommend renting through Best of Canaan.

Much needed relaxing vacation

It was a very unusually hot week so all the fans in the house were very helpful but could use some new ones. The house could use some updating, but there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and our dogs love it too. the beds are very firm but comfortable. And the hot tub was great when it cooled off in the evenings. We brought our kayaks and love how close this house is to the lake. We hiked at Blackwater and Canaan state parks as well as the Valley View trail at the top. And we were lucky enough to see the comet!

Bear’s Lair Isn’t Bare

The location was perfect. No close neighbors and no noise. A little disappointed that several of the Eateries listed on the brochure were closed, but we found sufficient places to eat. The house was outdated, but we had everything we needed. Plenty of kitchen paraphernalia to cook most anything. Plenty of towels. The beds were very firm, downright hard. Wood was provided for the fireplace and fire pit. The jacuzzi and pool table were a hit. I would recommend this place for family getaways. I would caution people who have difficulty with stairs as the living room is sunken. Fans were provided, but we got hot a few times as there was no air conditioning.

Great Trip for a Group of a Friends!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Even without AC, this house was overall a great place to be. I love the layout of the house and how comfortable the furniture is. The place DOES smell like dog, especially some of the beds, so make sure to have air freshener and plenty of laundry detergent to try to wash out the smell! Also, the hot tub is small (fits 4 comfortably) so be mindful of that. Many of the outlets do not actually work when you try to plug in devices. Otherwise, this place was a perfect getaway and close to many cool sites like Blackwater Falls! Would definitely visit again. :)

We ran out of LP gas on day one and also had trouble with the coffee pot - I called and we had replacements 28 minutes later! I expected to wait quite some time, but they were "Johnny on the spot!" The home is aging, but very comfortable. Our bed was very nice, the pool table is in good working condition, and the hot tub was very relaxing. Fridge and microwave have been updated. Deer were in the yard daily. This place is soooo secluded. Overall an excellent experience.
