Lovely mountain home in a beautiful wooded setting. Welcome to Hart's Horn!

It’s time to head for the hills! You should pack for adventure and plan on comfortable lodging! Hart’s Horn is the place to enjoy peace, quiet and mountain air! Located in a tranquil wooded setting, this lovely home offers a full kitchen, large deck, and a ping pong table too. Hikers will love the close proximity to Dolly Sods. Because it is in the Old Timberline community, Hart's Horn provides access to two lakes with scenic walking trails and catch and release fishing. In the winter, it is a short drive to the slopes at Timberline Mountain. Year-round it is a quick drive to Blackwater Falls, golf at Canaan Resort, and the chic towns of Davis and Thomas. Sunsets and starry night skies are best viewed from the outdoor hot tub. Hart’s Horn offers lots of smart televisions in a variety of sizes. Settle in by the wood burning fireplace. Four-wheel drive vehicles will be required for winter access.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time at Harts Horn! The house had a wonderful deck/hot tub & the deer visited us daily. The house was beautiful & fully stocked with everything you need to cook & bake. We had a fire in the wood burning fireplace & enjoyed this very much. A great week in Canaan♥️

They say a four wheel drive is a must in the winter, and all four of us did but still had to get towed due to a freak ice storm on day of departure

Great weekend, just a 5 min drive to the main lake for great fishing & kayaking. Very peaceful & private.

Ski Vacation Basecamp

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented this home through Best of Canaan and wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again, and we would certainly come back to Hart’s Horn. While there was a tremendous amount of snow the week prior, the driveway was still accessible, though chains were needed to get to the area of the neighborhood where this home is located. The hot tub was a great apres ski option, the gas grill was great, and there was a stock of firewood for the fireplace. Ample spaces for a party of 9 people. Everything was in working order, though a crockpot would be a nice addition, as well as a hair dryer.

Let me start with the negative... it needs a crockpot, some plastic utensils to protect cookware, and a new coffee pot! Yep, that sums it up, been going to Canaan behind the guard gate for 26 years and this home did NOT disappoint. They have cared for and upgraded the home. It looks to have been maintained perfectly to accommodate any rental family. The kitchen has plenty counterspace, the appliances are of good quality, and it was easy to cook our meals in. The living room was cozy and warm, the second family room was a plus. The bedrooms were decorated nicely, the beds were comfortable, and it just seemed like home. The bathrooms had nice showers and ample lighting. Having a busy life then slowing down to relax on a 4-day mini, a person expects to get what they pay for, and I would recommend Hart's Horn for your family fun. REMEMBER no house is perfect because unfortunately the person ahead of you might not have cared for it like you do...and that makes it hard for families to want to pour their hard-earned dollars into a place only to be abused by someone who "doesn't care"! So, take my review seriously when I say this is a good place to rent and respect it as if it were your own home.
