We had a wonderful time here. Check-in was super easy, and everything went smoothly throughout our stay. There were no issues with the neighbors, and all appliances worked perfectly.The kitchen is very basic but functional — everything you need for a short stay. The house itself is spacious, nicely decorated, and has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.Overall, a lovely place to stay — we felt comfortable and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend!

The property is cozy and charming. Needs a bit of cleaning and dusting, though. Host may not reply right away, so might need a bit of patience when waiting for them to reply. Some of the furnitures need to be repaired so it can be used by the renters. Curtains on bathroom windows can provide more privacy, especially, at night. It has some potential to be a popular rental with some improvements here and there. I will rent it again, if I come back to visit.

Exactly as pictured, clean and cozy. All of the real and propagating plants were an unexpected nice touch in a rental! Space to spread out and surrounded by nature. Loved the side porch for my morning coffee. Owners responded quickly to one small issue. We felt safe and comfortable on our family vacation.

Great spot right near the beautiful village and public beach of Stony Brook (unprocessed, natural sand). The house has been updated nicely. Very light and welcoming. Several options for sleeping arrangements and extra bedding, especially if traveling with kids. Great appliances and kitchen for prepping and eating meals at home rather than spending big bucks 3 times a day (esp when traveling with 4 teens). We were less than 10 min from Stonybrook campus where the lacrosse tournament we travelled for took place. Close proximity to the mall, super markets, drug stores and Carvel ice cream! The host was very accommodating and always responded promptly. Definitely recommend for families or friends traveling for a few days who want flexibility and freedom to spread out more than a hotel allows and to make family meals!

Home falls short of expectations

Shower not clean, shortage of linens and basic paper products and dead batteries in remote. Grounds hadn't been mowed, trash strewn about yard. Large outdoor space but no place to sit. Listing did not inform that it is a 2-family home though it does have separate entrances. Lovely location but disappointing accommodations.

Charming cottage

This was our second stay at this charming cottage, perfect mix of colonial feel and modern amenities. Plenty of space for us and our dog. Everything we needed was included. Location is close to village and beach.

Convenient location and stay

The property was as described with a big and well equipped kitchen and also a large sized washer and dryer. The bathrooms are nicely renovated with every thing you might need. The location is very convenient and quick walk to Stony Brook Village. The bedrooms were well sized and as pictured. However, the beds could be a bit more comfortable. The two single beds squeaked a little bit. The property could also use a hair dryer and iron/ironing board. I brought those things with me but some others might want those things on the property.

Charming home!

My husband and I came back to my home town of Stony Brook for a family event. We were so happy when we checked into this charming home! If you are looking for that colonial feel with modern amenities, look no further. The home maintains the architectural details of the era while including modern conveniences (full sized washer and dryer, gas stove, smart TV). There was plenty of space for us to stretch out but it still felt cozy. The hosts were responsive when we had questions. And they welcomed us with a hand written note. Next trip back home, we will book again!

Great location

Quiet home near Village, updated historic house, very comfortable beds. Large living room, dining room and granite kitchen. Owner needs to find a better cleaning service for the kitchen and outdoors. Baths were spotless as was all rooms except kitchen.
