Esta casa de playa en Shelter Island tiene todos los ingredientes necesarios para una fabulosa escapada durante todo el año. Ubicada en un acre tímido a las afueras del pueblo de Dering Harbour, esta casa frente al mar espaciosa y llena de sol se encuentra en una ligera elevación, con un muelle y una playa de arena de 150 pies. El primer nivel presenta un diseño abierto de sala, comedor y cocina con magníficas vistas al agua. La cocina fue renovada en los últimos dos años con gabinetes a medida, encimeras de granito y detalles de alta gama. Hay una terraza acristalada junto a la sala de estar con vistas al jardín. Phenomenal location.....perfect for sunsets and close to restaurants, ferry, yacht club and groceries. Owner super nice and communicative. We might have to buy something there.

Dream home

Dream home describes this house. Great views, beautiful surroundings, comfortable bed and couches, gourmet kitchen, and very clean. Nicholos was an amazing host and we cant wait to go back.

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend despite the rainy weather. The house was amazing. The views were spectacular, the house was well stocked and comfortable and Nick was a great host. We cant wait to go back.

Best spot on Shelter Island!

What a great spot for our family! This house was perfect for everyone (ranging in ages from 2yr-65yr!). It's close to town, right on the water and has everything a family could need for a cozy get away. We were thrilled with the versatility of the layout and the owner made everything super easy for us. We highly recommend it!

July breezes and bliss

Loved everything about our stay. The location is stunning and the breezes are a July joy. Our host was incredibly accommodating and responsive. The house is well equipped although the Wifi should probably be upgraded. All in all a five star plus experience!

Paradise on Shelter

What a fantastic vacation. Beautiful house, had everything we needed and was in a perfect location. Nick (host) couldn't have been more helpful, always responded very fast to my enquiries, with very helpful suggestions. He recommended restaurants, told us where to find a boat that would take us fishing (we caught a lot!) and made us feel completely welcome. I would come back here like a shot. Highly recommended.

Terrific winter stay!

We rented for a long weekend and could not have asked for a better experience. Nick was a wonderful host; responsive, accommodating and welcoming. The home was beautiful and inviting, with everything our family needed, from a fully stocked kitchen to comfortable beds. And the location is really special - right on the water for beautiful views and incredibly serene. We look forward to a repeat visit.

Perfect relaxing getaway

This was exactly the sunny, relaxing waterfront Spring Break we were looking for. The house is perfect for a family, with an ideal open layout, tons of sunshine, views of the water from almost every room. We love to cook and the view from the kitchen can’t be beat. My kids loved to pick up shells and run around the back yard and we could watch them from inside. Nick was very attentive. We’d love to come back.

An attentive and accommodating owner!

My wife and I and our two young kids (4-6yrs old) enjoyed this house immensely. It was just what we needed to get away. Nick was attentive and accommodating throughout. We loved the sunroom and the views of the water never got old. It must be a truly special place in the Summer!

Dream home

I’m hesitant to right such a positive review because I don’t even want people knowing about this place. The home is even more fantastic in photos. It’s lovingly cared for and the owner couldn’t have been more responsive. Stay here for a giant dose of relaxation.

Amazing location and the NICEST owner

My family and I just spent ten days at Nick's property and had a truly WONDERFUL time. There is a beautiful view from the kitchen, living room, master bedroom, deck and yard! His house is perfectly laid out for kids / parents / grandparents to rest without being interrupted. The location is very idyllic with a great view and easy access to a beautiful beach/water, friendly neighbors, ~ ten minute drive to grocery stores / restaurants / etc... House is well stocked with sharp knives, blender, tupperware, etc... All the basics that make traveling more seamless! I must say I also loved all of the clean white towels, linens and beach towels available. Nick has been super communicative and kind - even helping us to arrange some library books back to us that we accidentally left at the house! I'm hoping we can come back again next summer, or maybe even during the fall/spring months when we could enjoy the sunroom.

It is the perfect summer retreat comfortable house and superb view.

We had a wonderful time at the Hay Beach house.It has everything you would want in a vacation house,large deck,good kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.The owner was very helpful with any questions we had and cheerfully answered all of them. We were immediately at home. The view and dock were a constant delight and there was a constant breeze. We were there on the 4th of July and could see fireworks up and down the North Shore. It was one of our very best vacations! We miss being there.

The location and view was amazing!

This house is roomy and comfortable with easy access to a private beach. The cleanliness was not the best. There are spider webs and a lot of dust. The surfaces and cabinet knobs in the kitchen were sticky. The showers weren’t very clean. The pots and pans were old and appeared dirty. There were a lot of ants on the deck, the hammocks and throughout the yard. We did appreciate the Nespresso machine and the open floor plan. The quality of the sheets and towels was very good. There is laundry detergent and most necessities that a family needs.

Amazingly charming beach house

The pictures on VRBO do not do justice to this house which is charming, very tastefully furnished, spacious, warm, perfectly located, entertaining and has the perfect access and view to water. The view from the house is incredible. Most of the room overlook the water and you can hear the waves, caribbean style from the master bedroom. The house is also looking out west which makes for fantastic sunsets (better than at the nearby hotel sunset beach). There is a private beach down the stairs which makes it feel that you are in a private island. It is a real natural sandy beach and again, make it look like the caribbean. The yard is also spacious and a lot of fun for the children to roam around, again with a full gorgeous view wherever you look... We could not get enough of it! On July 4th we got to see no less than 3 fire works on the north fork without moving from the hammock! The house in itself is very well furnished and has a well stocked kitchen. It doesn't feel cold that so many rentals but it also doesn't feel like it is someone else home - so we really felt it was our own home very quickly. The bedrooms were very nicely furnished. There are 2 master bedrooms, 1 children room with bunkbeds and one large room downstairs which is good for a family. But note that the house can't be shared by more than 3 couples - with 3 couples and kids it is very comfortable. The location within Shelter Island is great - in a very peaceful strip close to the few nice restaurants, harbor and markets of the island. The owner was very easy to work with, he would respond to any question in a matter of minutes and always very kindly.

Beachfront gem

We rented the house for one week at the end of August and had a wonderful experience. The house is well maintained, perfectly situated on the water and very comfortable. I definitely plan to return in the near future. The owner stays nearby and was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. The sunsets are amazing from the terrace. The house is very thoughtfully designed.

Amazing Vacation Spot

The house is beautiful and immaculately maintained. The deck overlooks a grassy backyard with steps down to a beach with a dock. One bedroom has a screened in porch that also looks out at the water. There is a den with huge sky-lights, large windows, and sliding glass doors that still managed to be cool! There is no need to leave the house, but Shelter Island has a lot of fun things to do: pretty beaches, fishing, mini-golf, and some nice restaurants. I can't wait to go back.
