Nice location

We really enjoyed the house... the house is very nice and close to everything that we needed to go. We walked to the beach and to the sound. It was very nice.

Nice location

We loved our week in OBX. We would rent this house in the future. The house needs upgrades and could've been cleaned a bit more before we arrived but we still enjoyed our visit.

Great location

We had such a great time staying at this house in nags head. The place was outdated but my kids said it made them feel like they were at grandmas house lol. The only downside was the beds in the main bedrooms were not very comfortable. Other than that the location was on point we were a short drive to almost everything. Can’t wait to visit again

Worked for what we needed

The house was very dated and smelled musty. It also lacked some necessities in the kitchen as well as furniture for the outside deck spaces. All in all we made it work and enjoyed the vacation.

The post-season carpet/upholstery clean has been scheduled for the first week of September, which should help freshen the home for the remainder of rental weeks. Great for affordable fishing trip!

Better than expected due to past reviews. Mattresses are firm and clean, look new. Cove Realty was rapidly responsive to inquiry about missing cookware. Overall, the property is older and yeah it could be updated. But we had a great time and were very happy.

Just a house

Just a house nothing fancy. Beds are horrible and the internet went in and out. Had maintenance workers come unannounced 3x. One time during dinner at 630pm. But for budget price this house gets the job done.

We're very sorry that the maintenance team had to disturb your stay due to needing to replace the refrigerator, but hope that everything went well thereafter. We also recently sent the cable company to evaluate the internet setup, where an ethernet cable was replaced, so hopefully this will lead to a much more stable connection for future vacationers. Awful place with horrible management

They didn't even bother cleaning. We found candy behind chairs. The house's beds were as hard as a rock, and the internet was off the entire stay. They said internet is not guaranteed, but they didn't even attempt to fix it after two tries. They simply said tough luck. I would NEVER recommend or stay with this company again. Try Twiddy instead. They have a much better management, and I have never had a badexperience with them in ten years of staying at the banks.

Unfortunately, cable on the island can have issues from time-to-time due to storms causing outages and power surges. While we can troubleshoot internet to a certain extent, such as resetting modems and inspecting wiring, we are at the mercy of the cable company if the problem persists. For future guests, the cable company has remedied all issues with the cable line leading to homes in this area, so speeds and stability are back to normal. We will also be forwarding this information to the owners for considerations to upgrades for the next rental season. We're very sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay, but hope that you were able to enjoy all the area has to offer.

Safety issue

Porch has no screen and nothing to prevent small children from falling to the concrete drive below. Ended up leaving, had to purchase another rental. The property mngr refunded 100%. Dont rent this house if you have small children. Also no internet, so dont rent if you have teens. There is wifi, but no paid service. Not a nice place to stay, definitely not up to my standards. Worse than i thought by reading previous reviews. For reasons that are not my place to say, the owner is not able to provide what the place needs to be nice for their guests

The cable company was contacted and service is back up and running since the issue. Please note that the front-side of the home features a covered deck and sun-deck to the left, as well as a back sun-deck. There are no screened-in decks or screened-in patio areas at this home. Hope the get better

Check in was nice. Got to check in a few hours early witch was really nice. When picking up the keys to the property. The management company (cove realty) said " that there has been a little construction do e on the house but there not done yet". So get to the house dumpster in the front yard siding and foam board all over the right side of the car port by the picnic table. Wood on the right side of the car port all over. Back deck had no steps or handrails with a pick set up in the air. So no using the back yard for anything durning our stay. They did come and put screw inthe door so my 4 year old would not go out the door Found about 10 to 15 nails in the driveway and around the steps leading up to the front door. Got one nail in a tire and had to go get it fixed. Went to try to get into the pool and was denied be at the time they told me the management or the home owner didnt pay the fees. Called management on tuesday because we started see cockroaches (waterbugs) whatever they were. They did send Terminix out to spray the next day but did not call and tell me they were coming

The owners performed many renovations during the '24/'25 off-season where, unfortunately, the addition of an elevator was not able to be completed by their contractors before the '25 rental season. Therefore the back deck has been sealed off as well as construction material is off to one side of the car port. We greatly apologize for any issues this caused during your stay. While these items have since been remedied, we again apologize for the inconvenience and hope that, aside from these issues, you were able to enjoy all the area has to offer!

Review

Upon arriving, there was a very bad musty smell to the place and my daughter has asthma; we called and they brought over a dehumidifier and 2 scents for the house. I noticed that the fire extinguisher in the kitchen was not recharged; so I called and told them that was very unacceptable, the lady that I spoke with response was "Do you need one right away"? They did, however, bring a charged one over, luckily. There was a small stove fire from stuff inside of the stove burner that had aluminum foil wrapped around it. So, when I called to inform the front desk of the situation, the ladies response was "Ok", not are you and your guests fine, do you need anything? No, it was a "Ok". Then we had water bugs in our house and when I called, the lady that I spoke with really didn't seem to care about it but eventually, they did send Terminex out the next afternoon. Overall, I am highly unimpressed with this house; it needs a lot of modern updates, some TLC, etc.

Needs some work

The home is very dated and not super clean just due to the fact that everything is aged. Bathrooms have an old urine smell about them. Take your own pots and pans.There are some there from the 70's if you want to use them. There are signs in the bathrooms and kitchen to not use abrasives to clean because it will scratch to surfaces. To be honest that's the least they need to be worried about. For the amount of money the house makes in a month you would think the owners would want to put a little into it. Living room chair has holes in it. Beds are not comfortable and crinkle all night every time you roll over. The overall layout of the house is nice and is fairly close to the beach but can definitely use some upgrades. Previous posters had also mentioned this and when I asked before renting the management company never responded so I just figured it would be okay for our short stay but I probably wouldn't rent this one again if some upgrades weren't done first and I did let management know my concerns when I returned the keys and was told they would look into it.

You get what you pay for

This property had enough space for 10 people. We didn’t care that the decor was outdated. It appears most of the mattresses have been replaced. However, they could all use mattress pads and it would go a long way to update the beds from full size to queen size. Our biggest issue was cleanliness. We ended up clearing out all of the drawers in the kitchen, running everything through the dishwasher, and cleaning the drawers themselves. Most of the pots and pans were dirty as well. The bathrooms and fridge appeared to have been wiped down, but as soon as we put something in the fridge, the second shelf collapsed. We fixed it, but we also had to clean it because there was dirt and grime embedded in the grooves and we could see it had been a long time since someone had taken the shelves out and thoroughly cleaned them. The house itself has a urine/moldy smell, which didn’t bother us too much until we lost power for 12 hours. Then, it became almost unbearable because there was no air circulating. The internet had to be unplugged and rebooted about once a day. That may have been due to storms though. The distance to the pool and sound was very short and we loved walking each evening! We walked to the beach as well, but when we had a lot of stuff to carry, we drove and parked in the many available beach access lots that were just a mile from the house. We brought our own games and entertainment due to Covid. There is a DVD/VCR player, but no movies to watch. They do have Red Box at Food Lion. All stores and restaurants are conveniently located! Overall, it was a cheap price for the house and we enjoyed our time, but you get what you pay for.

We have passed this information to the cleaning manager to address the items you mentioned and to look into a mid-season carpet/furniture clean to freshen the home for the remainder of the season. In the future, if you ever encounter any issues during your stay, be it with cleaning, missing items, etc., please let us know so that we can immediately tend to these issues and provide a comfortable stay during your vacation. As for the power and internet problem, this was an issue with most of the homes during the hurricane, and while I'm happy to hear that power was restored within the day, we apologize for the following surges that caused intermittent internet issues. The mattresses are horrible! There was urine on the bunk bed mattresses & bedspreads. There was also a pot under the sink with stagnant water in it. The housekeeping needs a lot of work. The realty company did bring out matress pads & new bedspreads. The owners really need to check on their property. Cooking was impossible due to the lack of pans, skillets & utensils. In short need improvement!!

I'm very sorry to hear about your initial experience on arrival, as all comforters and mattress pads are required to be checked, and replaced if necessary, by the cleaners between each stay. However, I am glad that someone was able to replace these items on the same day for you. After looking through the notes, I don't see any mention of the lack of cooking utensils, so after reading this feedback, we have already sent someone to inspect the stock and replace as necessary. The owner is also in the works of making a number of upgrades for the 2019 season, including new mattresses! We hope that, aside from these issues, you were able to enjoy your stay here on the island, and hope you take another look at this rental when upgrades are complete.

Great place to stay with a family!

My family stayed at this house and had a great time! It was close enough to the beach that we could easily walk there and the back yard gave the kids room to run around. I loved that there were 3 showers so that everyone could shower off quickly after spending the day in the ocean. The beds were comfy and the house was big enough for all 10 of us.

I really enjoyed the stay. Had a few problems first day but was impressed how Cove took care of the issues. Only bad thing I can say is the furniture was very outdated(worn out) and the beds were smaller then we anticipated. The only other issue we really had was the swimming pool, it was very expensive and unfortunately we had to pass on it. We figured for what they was charging it really wasn't worth it. Its a small pool.The location is great.

Thank you for your feedback on this rental home. We will be forwarding your feedback on the furniture to the homeowners, so they can address updates for the 2019 season. As for bed sizes, the home offers 2 doubles, 2 twins, and 2 bunk beds, did you see information that differed from this layout? If so, please let us know so that we can make changes to any incorrect listings. Some of the communities on the Outer Banks include various amenities within the association package, while others require additional fees for certain areas. For Old Nags Head Cove, the water-side community pool does come at an extra fee, which is $3 per person per day, or $75 for a group up to six for the entire week. The furniture is very uncomfortable. We put pillows under the cushions to try to help but it wasn't much better. The beds were no better.The kitchen counter is to high.The entire place needs a deep cleaning. It is very dirty.I would not consider staying in this place until those improvements are made. On the bright side the people at cove realty were very nice.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are very sorry to now be reading of your experience in this home, as we strive to ensure that each stay is 100% satisfactory. We will definitely be sending this list to the owners so these items may be addressed. I have also forwarded this to our cleaning department for a second inspection on the spring clean. We do hope that, aside from these issues, you were able to enjoy your stay here on the island and we hope we can make this stay up to you upon a future visit.

Great location, ok house, needs updating

The place was what we needed for our trip and the price was great. Backing out of the driveway was alittle strange as the house sits in the middle of a 3 way stop. The decor in the house is extremely dated, but we didn't rent the house for the decor we needed amenities and beds. We would definitely stay there again, considering the location and price.

Thank you so much for your feedback! The three-way stop is a bit odd and was actually implemented only a little more than a year ago, due to drivers speeding down this stretch of road. We will be forwarding your input about the decor to the owners, as this home has recently passed hands from the original owner to his children, so it may begin to reflect a new style for the 2018 season.
