Great Location

The location is fantastic and the house is very nice. Only two small issues we had were that the back door is busted and it would h- quite difficult to open and during an intense rain storm water will fill in the tracks and come into the house a bit.

The location was awesome. The house is grubby and needs some attention. As other renters mentioned the downstairs is musty and I think that if they could empty the “junk” room off the laundry area that would help. Cove was great to work with.

Decent stay, house needs some upgrades

Kitchen is not stocked, bring your own pots and pans and ignore the pic of the kitchen with the Keurig, there isn't one. Bad smell coming from 1st floor bathroom, hope they get that fixed quick. Beds were comfortable and views of the ocean great, make sure you have 4x4 vehicles for this place, so way a car or minivan could stay here...and only 2 vehicles also...so hopefully you don't need all those beds in the house. We had 11 people and 3 vehicles, it was a lot it of a nightmare

For future guests, if you ever find anything missing or need more kitchenware, please let us know so that we can immediately provide you with replacements. While I see that maintenance was sent out during your stay to replace a light and help unclog a toilet, please always call with any additional issues, as we will immediately respond so that you can enjoy a carefree vacation! As for parking, yes, this home is advertised to only allow 2 cars for parking, but we do allow all overflow vehicles to be left at our office parking lot. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope that, aside from these issues, you were able to enjoy all the area has to offer!

Fall on the Outerbanks...magical

Warm breezes and the roar of the ocean. Beautiful sunrises and many walks on the ocean. Perfect. The location was perfect. The house is a "beach house". Mattresses uncomfortable, old stove, refrigerator was replaced during our stay, poor deck furniture, broken umbrella.....but the view.....priceless. Owner needs to put a little money in this beautiful beach house as it needs a little tlc. BUT, we'll be back to the area.

Place was great but online description was not clear on address of property. Actual address got lost on original email only. All emails only had id number afterwards. Key entry door was dangerous. All in all a great experience Thank you all

For future guests, if you ever have any confusion on the rental home's location or any other questions in regards to a rental, please don't hesitate to visit Cove Realty's website, where all of our address locations are displayed along with other important information, or call our Cove Realty office to speak with a reservationist. We did need to look back at your reservation history in regards to the keyed door, as this rental home is on a keypad entry-door. Looking further into the detailed history, we see that you requested a keyed entry to a different door. If you have free time, please Email or call us to let us know what you found dangerous about that alternate door. Great house right on the beach.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time in this house. The location is really special - right on the beach. The only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is the little things that would have made the stay 'perfect'. We felt only offering clean linen for a really significant additional fee was cheap. Most rentals include this is the fee and beds are made on arrival. The house did not have some basics like sufficient toilet paper or bin bags for the kitchen. Overall, the house could do with some work - one shower leaked into the room below, the hose downstairs to clean sand off feet didn't work. Not major issues but...

We enjoyed our stay!

Our group consisted of 7 adults, 3 teens, one preteen, and one toddler. The rooms were cozy, but we had enough room. You may find the quarters a bit tight if you're traveling with people you don't like very much, but assuming you all get along, space shouldn't be too much of an issue. There is a damp, musty smell, but hello, there is a LOT of water just a few yards away. If that's an issue for you, beachfront property probably isn't for you. We had four people in our group who are very sensitive to mold and mildew when it comes to sinuses/allergies, but once we opened up some windows and let some fresh air in, no one had any problems. The cleaning crew isn't exactly what I would call detail-oriented (I'm basing this off the fact that the widow sills were FULL of dead mosquitoes, but we didn't see a live mosquito the entire time we were there, leading me to believe that those tiny corpses had been lying there quite some time). Other than that, though, the cleaning seemed fairly average. The bottom floor does get cold at night (heat rises--can't fight nature, lol), but space heaters were available, so we didn't have any issues. The view was awesome, as was the beach access, and we made many fond, lifelong memories inside this house--no regrets whatsoever!

Renter Beware

After being excited about this trip for months, we drove out with our kids and wife's parents and were very disappointed. We never unpacked our bags. The property manager was understanding and refunded our reservation. This house is not family appropriate. If you want to party with your high school buddies and don't care about the condition of the house, this is the place for you. There is a ton of room and it's right on the ocean. If you are stretching the family budget, preparing for weeks, and driving hours (or days) to have a restful week at the beach with your family, you may want to look elsewhere. We were overwhelmed by the smell of mildew, the A/C grate in the center of the main floor was rusted, and the kitchen counter was broken. The flooring and carpet were damaged and dirty. We were there less than an hour so I don't have a comprehensive list of all of the issues. The house was cleaned but no housekeeping service can coverup this mess. It takes a lot to maintain a beach house, so I don't write this negative review lightly. I hate impacting the owner's business. I hope they inspect the house and start making the appropriate repairs.

While the owners have been doing repairs and upgrades throughout the winter, unfortunately, the job was unable to be fully completed by the time of your arrival, so last minute touches were made to make the home as comfortable as possible for your stay. However, again, we're so sorry that it did not meet your standards. The owners did use this cancelled week to send their repair people back out and finish all work, so future guests will experience a fresh and renewed home for the 2022 season!

Absolutely DO NOT rent this home.

The ONLY good thing about this home is the location. It’s perfect. Easy access to the beach, the deck is wonderful. The view from the bedroom upstairs is amazing. However.... walking into the home on the bottom floor, it was a HORRIBLE smell, very musty. The second floor was a little better. The kitchen wasn’t super clean, I had to clean it before we used it. I looked in the bathroom and there was a dead mouse in the toilet. Management said the exterminator was just there so maybe that was why.... none of the bathrooms had exhaust fans so they were always wet after showers. The top floor was the best out of them all, but still the whole home smelled SO musty/moldy. The AC wasn’t working, the maintenance person came and didn’t even take tools out but came in to say it was fixed. The heat didn’t work (NC weather.... cold one day hot the next) and they said they would just bring us all space heaters instead of fixing the problem. I called again because the bathroom downstairs, after a shower, the floor was soaking wet and the laminate was coming up... and we noticed it was black in spots. Im guessing this is where the moldy musty smell was coming from? Once we got home, we had to wash EVERYTHING twice to get that smell out of our belongings. Honestly if we didn’t have people coming from a different state 10 hours away, I would have packed up my stuff and gone to a hotel or another rental. So disappointed.

While the owners of this rental home do improvements each year, we will sure be sure to include your feedback to the owners so that any issues may be addressed. On a note to future guests, please do not turn off breakers in a rental home, as this will cause issues with the functioning of appliances and outlets, as was encountered by the AC vendor who inspected the AC/Heating system, reporting that the breaker had not been tripped, but was manually turned off and did not allow heat to run in the home.

OBX December 2022

Cove Realty December 2-15, 2022 at property #__4359042____________ Overall, the house was great and served our needs as a large family with small children and a dog well. Most important to me were that the kitchen and bathrooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable! We never ran out of hot water! It was unusually cold during our stay so the small space heater in the basement was very helpful. The washer and dryer were a godsend. The furniture in the living room was comfortable and “well loved” but that made me less nervous about the one-year-old! However, there were some things that could have improved our stay (and possibly others who follow us!): • The code key box never worked during our entire stay so we just didn’t lock the doors. We wouldn’t have been able to get in except that the maintenance guy was there on the first day. • The door in the basement has a big gap between the floor and bottom of the door so sand blew in (there was lots of wind) under the door and required lots of sweeping. • I understand this is an older house and that it is, after all, a beach house, but the air vents could use a good cleaning/painting and there were spider webs in many of the ceiling corners • Screens for the windows were either missing or broken and several of the shades were broken • There were a couple of closets that were not locked and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for years. In one of them in the laundry room we found a full bottle of lighter fluid on its side lying on top of old insulation… MAJOR fire hazard. We moved it, of course. • There were no or only a couple of hangers in all the bedroom closets • Light bulbs were missing in some of the fixtures • The kitchen had adequate dishes and mugs for a large family but could use more cups/glasses. We needed a large pot for spaghetti sauce (for 10 people) and had to go buy one at a thrift shop. • It would have been nice to have a minimal supply of paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper) and cleaning supplies to at least get started. Beautiful location

Great property for a big family. Cleanliness was okay. I found a large fish hook on the windowsill and was glad I found it before a toddler did! But we loved the location and easy access to the beach! And the beds were much more comfortable than a lot of hotel beds we’ve slept on!

Great Stay

Everything was great would definitely return. Could not find trash receptacles outside but that was it. Definitely recommend

We apologize for the confusion you encountered with the exterior trash receptacle, and for future guests, South Nags Head homes do not have private exterior trash cans, but instead share large dumpsters located at the entrance to each side-road. Wonderful after the initial settling in..

The property had plenty of space for everyone to sleep. The living space is not as spacious but we were all still very comfortable. The location couldnt be better. Right on the ocean and close to other attractions as well. I did have trouble communicating with the realty company the first day and my kids were cold in the lower level as heat didnt circulate there well. We finally got space heaters which helped a lot. DO NOT PARK NEAR THE HOUSE! The space they advertise is actually sand and our car got stuck so we had to have it towed. After the first half a day, we enjoyed the rest of our stay but we did have trouble getting settled in because of these problems.

Thank you for your feedback on this rental home. We're very sorry about the early issues of heating and parking. We're glad to hear that the space heaters were able to help warm the lower floor on the colder winter nights. As for parking, while these ocean front parking areas are scraped regularly, winter storms can quickly accumulate soft sand spots. If you ever see areas of concern for parking, please don't hesitate to contact us so that we can immediately get these areas re-scraped. We're happy that, aside from these issues, you were able to enjoy your stay and we hope to see you again.

Perfect Honeymoon Retreat

We stayed here for a week with our dog to decompress and celebrate getting married. The location on the beach is amazing and the sleeping and waking to the sound of the ocean was the best. We only used one room, but all of the rooms were set up nicely. The kitchen is upgraded and sitting at the dining room table with the deck doors open was so relaxing, We can’t wait to visit again.

OBX Vacation

Location of property is perfect, the house is spacious for a large family and we had a great time. However, the house is very dated, no air conditioning downstairs therefore having a musty smell. One outside door used to go and come from the beach was very hard to open and close and the sofas appeared dirty. . The decks were nice but only two very uncomfortable chairs. Some improvements are in the making but still has a way to go.

Thank you so much for your feedback on this rental home. The owner does major updates to this home every year and appreciates every bit of guest input to better future guest stays. While there are vents from the central AC system to the ground-floor level as well as a window unit in the downstairs laundry area, we will send that homeowner's AC technician to the home to see if any vent and/or fan adjustments need to be made to better circulate the air-flow to the downstairs. Thank you for also letting us know about the couches, and I've just put in a work order to have these professionally steam cleaned. As per the hard to open downstairs door, unfortunately the COVID-19 situation closing our island for a few months has delayed the work on these, and while the mid-floor ocean-deck slider was completely replaced, the downstairs doors were delayed to next fall. In the meantime, we have sent maintenance to see if they can adjust the beach-side door so not as much force is needed to open and close. Thank you again for your input and we hope to see you again!

Perfect place to stay

We booked this property for our twins spring break. We were looking for a place that we could bring our Rottweiler as well as having a place right on the beach. For an extra fee, you can bring dogs without any breed restrictions. The sliding glass door onto the deck stuck & was very difficult to open, but they sent someone out first thing in the morning to fix it. The house was spacious and clean & the location couldn’t have been more perfect. We will definitely be renting this place in the future.

Great Location

I rented this place for the view and it did not disappoint! The house is right on the beach with breathtaking views! Plus~ I was able to bring my dog!

Ocean and Beach - Perfect

We had a wonderful week and having the ocean right at your feet was perfect. The kitchen and living areas were nice but the door to the deck was broken and extremely hard to open. The downstairs apparently had water damage so it had a real musty smell. The best part of the cottage was the price and it was right on the beach!

Thank you for your feedback on this rental home. We're sorry for your experience with the deck's slider door, as this must have broken a roller causing the door to not easily open. This slider door's roller has since been replaced and the slider opens smoothly once again. We've also sent this Email to maintenance to look at and address any musty odor that can be detected on the ground level. While beach nourishment has protected this home from ocean surges and flooding, we've notated on the order to check any smells in furniture and draperies, which can occasionally lead to odors. We hope that, aside from these issues, you were able to enjoy your stay and we hope to see you again!

Perfect Location

Had a great, but short stay thanks to Hurricane Dorian evacuation. The house is in a perfect location, away from the hustle and bustle part of Nags Head, and had everything we needed. Parking is a little tight for 2 cars. Was awesome falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean every night. Looking forward to coming back for the remainder of my days and perhaps then some next spring for another mini vacation.
