My extended family and I just stayed here to attend my son's graduation from BCT at Fort Jackson. First, the good: the location is perfect. It's a quaint little (walkable) neighborhood with close proximity to everything Columbia has to offer - including quick access to Ft. Jackson. We were able to walk to a local park and it was very pleasant. The house itself is very nice. Looks like it was recently updated. However, there were some negatives that led me to call both the owner and VRBO. I feel as if my complaints were addressed although it was a struggle to get VRBO to help.First, upon arrival, the place hadn't been cleaned. There were no linens on any of the beds, there was food left over in the fridge and the garbage was overflowing outside. Second, the listing shows multiple beds in each of the bedrooms including a sleeper sofa. Upon arrival, we quickly realized there was not enough room for the 8 of us to sleep, despite the fact that it said it slept 11. We were able to get in contact with the owner who promptly arrived and we voiced our concerns. She set to work cleaning (sweeping, vacuuming, etc.) while we were sitting there. They placed linens on the beds and when we told them there weren't enough beds, they purchased air mattresses from a local Walmart. They were not on hand. There was also no toilet paper and the owner came by later to bring us some.I felt as if some compensation was necessary for the inconvenience and VRBO assisted.
