Get ready to relax in this updated 4-bedroom farmhouse turned schoolhouse, with partial ocean views from all east rooms. It still has much of its early 1800's charm but with all modern amenities: washer/dryer, wireless WiFi, AC (heat pumps), large refrigerator, stove/oven, toaster oven, large wall-mounted tv in living room, and a tub/shower combo downstairs for the kids' bathtime. With 2 queen beds, 1 bunk bed, and 2 twin beds, this property is perfect for families or groups of friends looking for a tremendous getaway. For families with young children, there's even a LARGE fully-fenced playground to keep the kids happy while the parents relax with lawn chairs, the BBQ, and large picnic table for enjoying meals outside! Walking distance to many antique shops, plus restaurants and cafes. Close to many local hot spots: Wells Beach, The Steakhouse, Kennebunkport, Mike's Clam Shack, Rachel Carson Nature Preserve, and Big Daddy’s ice cream! Feel free to reach out to us during your stay!

Amazing stay for young children

My kids loved this house and the nice fenced in area! They were never bored. Easy communication and fast responses. Close to places to eat and not far from beaches at all. Great stay!

I will book this property again it fit our 5 year old son and 3 year old disabled son very well. My 3 year old could get from room to room in his gait trainer and my 5 year old loved the bunk beds. They had so many toys to play with. The beds were super comfy. This was an amazing stay for us.

Magic

Being a parent of nearly 4 year old twin girls, I can easily say that this place is magic. The girls walked in and their eyes lit up at the multiple playrooms and the playground outside. The beach is easily accessible, as is the town of Wells. We have already booked another stay because we love this place so much.

Paradise for toddlers

Stayed for a 4 day weekend with family, which included a 2 and 3 year old. House appears just as it is pictured-very well kept and full of character. Host went the extra mile and made accommodations oriented to age of our travelers such as a baby gate. Perfect spot for a family with young children. The playground on the property was amazing although bug spray is a must (at least for us in late july/early august ) as we were met with quite a few mosquitoes while playing in the yard at all hours of the day . Very close to beach.

If you have children under the age of 10, this is the place for you. Scrupulously clean, this gorgeous old house functions as a preschool during the school year, and has been set up for beachgoers for the summer. It has a giant playroom full of well-kept toys and a fenced-in backyard playground that is every kids' dream. A picnic table and grill make eating outside easy. Gracious, generous host who is very accommodating and quick to respond. Location is great — visiting the nearby Laudholm farm and beach is a must. My kids were so happy here.

School daze-fun days

My son and family joined us with an 8 yr old and 18 mon old. There was plenty of room for all of us. My grandson who decided to join is at the last min stands 6ft 3 and had a doorway issue but dealt with it-The girls had a blast in the “classroom”.we were served pretend food- entertained us with a puppet show - read stories and loved the play yard. Our host was the best. She answered every question in a timely manner even tho she was on vaca. The house was spotless - very comfortable beds and great coffeemaker. We had a great time. Thanks Elle

First the positives, close to the beach and restaurants. Yep that’s it. Would never stay here again. Things were not clean when we got there. Kitchen sink, freezer were disgusting. There are a lot of spiders and cobwebs in the bathrooms/bedrooms. The beds were uncomfortable so my son slept on the floor. The couch had a bunch of sand in it. There were barely any pots/pans to cook in for a family of four and the large cooking utensils were not cleaned so we had to wash it all before using it. It is so close to the road that you hear all the traffic all night long. We were really disappointed and we left a night early because we just couldn’t handle it.

These guests began by messaging to say that the freezer and kitchen sink were dirty. I offered to address their complaints immediately but they refused. If this had been written by any of our other guests this summer, I would have been very surprised by this review, but it was pretty obvious from the beginning that a discount was what she really wanted. With all of the great reviews the Schoolhouse has received, I’m hoping that anyone reading this will see through this review.
